Red Dead Redemption: The Great Philanthropist of the West
Chapter 50 Fulfilling Dutch's Plan
As dawn broke, Henry and Zhang Wei were already standing in front of the old, large house. Enveloped in the morning mist, the entire Blackwater Town appeared hazy and mysterious.
After last night's frenzy, the streets were quiet and desolate, and nearby residents were still hesitant to go out so early. The police and detectives, after a night of running around and cleaning up the bodies, had only recently gone home to rest, except for the necessary guards.
After confirming that no one was inside the house, Henry told Zhang Wei to stay outside and keep watch, while he nimbly climbed over the wall into the yard. He used Eagle Vision to scan for traces left by Dutch and his men the night before. Based on the information Zhang Wei had observed and described, and after a careful search, Henry quickly found traces in the storage room behind the house.
One of the large cabinets showed signs of having been moved; there was still a little fresh dust on the floor, and a carpet was placed under it. An ordinary person wouldn't notice anything unusual without careful observation, and the cabinet was quite heavy; an elderly person would have difficulty moving it. But Henry disregarded science and activated his cheat code.
Henry moved the cabinet and discovered a loose wooden plank under the carpet. Prying it open, he found a large, heavy chest secured with a lock. He continued to pry open the lock, and a dazzling golden light shone on his face, almost blinding him. It was mostly gold, gleaming brilliantly, with neatly stacked American dollars beside it.
In order to realize Dutch's plan for the poor and enable him to live the life of a freedom fighter, Henry decides to be a good person, fulfill Dutch's wish, and help him safeguard the stolen wealth.
The gold bars and US dollars were estimated to be worth over 100,000. After putting them all into the legendary backpack, Henry restored the place to its original state and quietly left the area with Zhang Wei.
Then, following Zhang Wei, they continued walking towards the riverbank cliff. During this time, they encountered two groups of checkpoints: police officers inside the city and Pinkerton officers outside the city. After a short rest, they resumed their search.
The higher-ups promised a $1000 reward to anyone who found the stolen valuables or captured key members of the gang. However, because Henry and Zhang Wei were carefully disguised and resembled wealthy young men, the officers, including Pinkerton, didn't recognize them. They assumed they were just rich kids out for a stroll and didn't want to push their luck, so they let them go.
The two arrived at Dutch's second hiding place without any trouble and successfully obtained the remaining gold and US dollars worth more than 4 US dollars.
Henry left the two boxes where they were and, as usual, restored their disguise. These were bank boxes with special markings, and Henry certainly wouldn't bring them along to cause trouble; of course, his backpack couldn't hold them anyway.
Henry has now kept all of Dutch's loot safe for him, and Dutch no longer has to worry about the money being stolen or coveted by someone.
Henry, having done another good deed, seemed very happy. He hummed a song from his past life:
The sky was so bright, and the land was so vast.
Feelings are so intense, my heart is so restless.
The song was so melodious, the tune so wild.
Everything looks so refreshing; I'm having a blast today!
.......
"Zhang Wei, I haven't asked yet, do you have a master? Where did you learn your martial arts? Would you mind telling me?" On the way back, Henry brought up Zhang Wei's master. He wanted to train a secret squad similar to an assassin organization. He would have no shortage of enemies in the future, and they might use any means necessary. Even if he wasn't afraid, what about his family and friends? He needed to build a solid foundation in advance. Only by knowing how to kill could he better defend himself.
"Boss, I don't know my lineage. I'm an orphan. When I was young, I wandered the streets, begging and doing odd jobs. Sometimes when I was starving, I would steal from the streets. Once, I was caught stealing food from an old man."
Seeing my talent, he took me into an assassin organization. I learned a lot there, a wide variety of things, and most of my skills came from that time. The training there was intense and brutal; people were eliminated and thrown into pits every day. To survive, to have enough to eat, I had to train relentlessly. To be honest, those days were tough; I never knew when I would give up and be buried in a pit myself.
Fortunately, I persevered, and by chance, I boarded a smuggling ship to the Ugly Country and escaped the organization. Little did I know that after arriving in the Ugly Country, a land 'paved with gold' (to avoid censorship, some sensitive words have been replaced with other words), life wouldn't be much different from before. I was exploited and despised everywhere, until I met you, Boss.
I'm actually very grateful to you, boss. I really enjoy my peaceful life now, and I can see that you don't look down on us Chinese; you respect us a lot.
"I actually really like Chinese culture, Chinese tea and food. Our Declaration of Independence has a line that says 'all men are created equal,' although it seems ironic now. But I still agree with this idea, and I hope to do whatever I can to help others. Okay, I've gone off on a tangent again."
I originally wanted to train you independently into a covert team, similar to an assassin organization. If you're not interested, that's fine; I'll find someone else suitable.
Hearing Henry's words, Zhang Wei felt very comfortable. It felt wonderful to be respected, especially for Chinese people in this era.
"Boss, do you have a specific plan? How many people do you need to train? What are the selection criteria? If you don't have suitable candidates yet, I can help with the training. Perhaps I can recommend two people to you so you can evaluate them and see if they are suitable."
"Oh, what kind of people are they? Tell me." Henry became interested, as he had been thinking about how to expand his team recently.
"Both of them are Chinese people I met in Saint Denis. They are both involved in murder, and they are quite skilled and ruthless. However, their identities are a bit problematic, as they both have criminal records in Saint Denis. But their character is absolutely fine. They both have families to support and were forced into this path by circumstances."
"Here's what you'll do. When you get back, write a letter to Trelawney and ask him to investigate those two. You can rest for a couple of days. I was just thinking of going to Saint Denis in a couple of days, so you can come with me. Here's $500, take it and spend it. You did a good job this time."
"Okay, thank you, boss." Zhang Wei happily accepted the money; it was the largest sum of money he had ever had. He planned to buy a sniper rifle to play with. He knew his boss liked sniping; if he could eliminate enemies from a distance, he would never engage in close combat. He had to keep up with his boss's pace.
