Chapter 99 (Knowing the Subtle) Drunk
The sunset at dusk was beautiful, its orange hue tinged with a pale yellow, creating a vibrant and colorful scene.
Elhesen sat on the sofa waiting for someone to return so he could get up and open the door for him. During his lunch break at the Order of the Church earlier that day, Elhesen took out his keys to check them and discovered that Kavi's key was hooked onto his.
Imagining someone squatting at the door looking aggrieved, Elhesen smiled happily and even went home early after get off work. Unfortunately, the golden figure wasn't there, nor was the furious figure he had imagined.
Al-Hysen sat on the sofa, holding his newly received book. The content was indeed excellent, mentioning some rare and unusual ancient scripts. This should have been a book he enjoyed, but Al-Hysen found it utterly uninteresting.
Tick, tick.
It was the sound of the clock next to the living room mural. Al-Hysen suddenly felt that the continuous ticking sound, which even his headphones couldn't block out, was making him somewhat irritated.
Elhesen tried to calm his agitated mood, but the more he suppressed it, the harder it was to control. He closed the book in his hand, his thoughts still drifting to Kavi.
Where did he go? Why hasn't he come back yet?
Could it be because of the key?
As Elhesen thought about Kavi, a multitude of questions popped into his head. He suddenly realized that he seemed to have lost some of his rationality without even realizing it.
With a sound, a voice came from the terminal. "Hello, are you Kavi's roommate?"
Elhesen gave a curt "Mm." The other person responded with delight, "Great! Could you please pick up Senior Kavi? He's drunk." The person seemed a little embarrassed, and after a long silence from Elhesen, awkwardly said, "Um, if it's inconvenient..."
Al-Hysen snapped out of his daze and replied quickly, "I'll be there now if I have time. Please keep an eye on him for now." After a pause, Al-Hysen thanked him.
Elheisen moved quickly and soon found the tavern. Seeing Kavi's blushing face, Elheisen frowned. After saying goodbye to the junior who had messaged him, Elheisen led Kavi home.
Strangely enough, the drunken Kavi refused to let anyone approach him. Only when Elhesen got close did he wrinkle his nose, sniff, and then obediently open his arms to wait for a hug.
Elheisen didn't carry him; instead, he put him on his back and left the tavern.
After all that trouble, it was already quite late. Brilliant stars dotted the sky, and the bright moon shone down, illuminating their way home.
At first, Elhesen was quiet, and so was Kavi. When they reached the streetlights, Kavi suddenly spoke softly, "Elhesen is an idiot, he won't even hug me." His voice was tinged with grievance, drifting lightly into Elhesen's ears.
El-Hysen felt a butterfly flutter past his ear, lightly gliding by.
Actually, Elhesen was a little angry. What if he encountered bad people? With some resentment, Elhesen asked Kavi on his back.
"Kavi, do you know who I am now?" Elhesen thought Kavi was drunk and couldn't possibly recognize people in his confused state.
Kavi's tone was sluggish with drunkenness, but each word was spoken clearly, "I know, you are Elheisen." Elheisen could feel Kavi's breath on his neck, his nose gently brushing against it, as if he were sniffing his scent.
The drunkard on his back continued talking to Elhesen: "Your taste... is different."
El-Hysen was a little confused, "Different?"
A drunken Kavi's voice was low and tinged with grievance, "You never smelled before, like the Mondstadt icebergs I once gazed at from afar. Icy and cool, as if no one could get close to you. When the wind blew, there was no smell at all."
“But things are different now.” Kavi smiled smugly. “Now you smell like me.”
Al-Hysen understood what Kavi meant. They lived together every day, and Kavi bought almost all of their toiletries. It was inevitable that their scents would mix.
Kavi's body temperature rose slightly from the alcohol, and his two pale arms draped over Elhesen's shoulders, intimately and obediently encircling Elhesen's neck. Elhesen could clearly feel the heat emanating from Kavi; it was scorching. If he were truly an iceberg, he would surely have been melted by Kavi.
"Fool."
Al-Hysen's whispers were barely audible in the somewhat empty alley. He called Kavi an idiot, but a smile played on his lips. Under the dim streetlights, their shadows stretched long.
Back home, Alhesen placed Kavi on the sofa. Worried that Kavi would have a headache the next day, Alhesen found him some hangover medicine. Kavi sat obediently on the sofa, his red eyes fixed obediently on Alhesen. Alhesen felt a little helpless looking at him.
Kavi watched as Elhesen brought over the medicine, then obediently sat on the sofa waiting to take the hangover remedy. Because Kavi enjoyed drinking, but had a low tolerance, he kept some medication at home.
After taking his medicine, Kavi soon became noticeably sleepy. But he tried hard to stay awake, his eyes blinking rapidly. "Elhesen, why don't you hug me? You took my keys again, so I can't go home this afternoon," Kavi said, looking at Elhesen with a hurt expression.
Al-Hysen sighed, "Sorry, the key wasn't intentional." He then scooped Kavi up in his arms and carried him towards the bathroom. Al-Hysen tidied up the alcoholic Kavi, regardless of how unhappy Kavi was with the embrace.
"No, I want to lean against you. Don't do this," Kavi pleaded, but Elhesen ignored him.
After everything was tidied up, Kavi was once again held tightly in the bedroom. He was being carried horizontally again, not in the way he had expected. Kavi was a little angry and huddled under the covers, refusing to speak to Elheisen.
Elhesen didn't notice Kavi's little temper. When he finished tidying himself up, changed into his pajamas, and came back, he found that Kavi was ignoring him as if he was angry. Elhesen raised an eyebrow and coaxed Kavi with a smile, "Senior Kavi, why are you ignoring me?"
Kavi shrank back, refusing to say a word. He buried his head under the covers, leaving only a few strands of his blond hair sticking out. Seeing that Kavi ignored him, Elheisen continued, "Can't I have a hug?"
When Kavi heard the hug, he finally peeked out. "Hug me?" Elhesen nodded and opened his arms. Kavi then embraced him like a fledgling returning to its nest.
"I like you. I like you the most."
Kavi's love was so intense that it warmed Elhesen's heart. "Me too."
On a moonlit night with few stars, there is always a warm embrace to comfort your heart.
