Chapter 95 (Yun Qiu) Contract
Chongyun's ancestors had a responsibility to exorcise demons, and many powerful demon exorcists had emerged from his lineage. However, with the changing times, these demon exorcists gradually dwindled, and by Chongyun's generation, they had become extinct.
As luck would have it, Chongyun was born with a pure Yang constitution. His constitution was somewhat uncontrollable, and he would become difficult to control once his emotions were aroused. Helpless, his family searched through all the available information before finally allowing Chongyun to begin his cultivation.
As his cultivation progressed, Chongyun gained some control over his physique, and his cultivation level improved significantly. Because of his exceptional talent, Chongyun possessed a sense of transcendence among his peers. Although cultivation was arduous, Chongyun had already made considerable progress.
Therefore, Chongyun's family prepared for him to make his first contract with a spirit. Every exorcist can form a contract with a spirit, who will fight alongside the exorcist and become their powerful ally in battle against monsters. After forming a contract, they can even achieve a deep connection of minds.
Fairies are different from monsters. The former can communicate with humans and even form contracts to become partners of exorcists. The latter, however, are inherently wicked and mostly cause trouble.
Unfortunately, with the decline of demon hunters in the human world, the traces of demons gradually became fewer and fewer. Later on, they were only recorded in books.
Chongyun came to this deep mountain to find a fairy and form a contract with her. This was his first time contracting a fairy, and Chongyun was very serious about finding any traces of her.
The natural scenery on this mountain is very well preserved, and as far as the eye can see, it is full of vitality. The lush trees grow haphazardly, seemingly unrestrained.
Chongyun walked through the thickets, passing the animals that disturbed him. Resolute, he continued deeper into the mountain, where the book recorded that the center was a valley. In the valley lay a lake, perhaps inhabited by fairies.
Chongyun wiped the sweat from his forehead. The journey had been difficult, and even with his rigorous training since childhood, he was finding it somewhat strenuous after several hours of continuous travel. In the sunlight, the boy with ice-blue hair was dazzling, attracting the attention of many birds.
"Keep going, you'll be there soon."
Panting, Chongyun whispered a word of encouragement to himself. This somewhat reserved and shy boy would always earnestly cheer himself on when no one was around.
Finally, after several hours of travel, Chongyun found the lake with the help of the map.
The lakes are located inside the mountain ridge, converging like the bottom of a basin at the center. The lakes are not small; from a distance, they appear as a continuous expanse of shimmering water. Up close, the crystal-clear water reveals its pure, natural beauty.
There weren't many large trees around the lake, but instead, a large patch of blue, iris-like flowers bloomed. A faint gold hue adorned the lower part of the petals, making them incredibly beautiful under the sunlight.
Looking from afar, it has a somewhat fairyland-like feel.
At the heart of the flower-filled landscape stood a wooden cabin. It wasn't particularly elegant, but it wasn't dilapidated either. Its cleanliness gave it a tranquil air.
Chongyun approached the house with some curiosity, carefully getting closer and trying not to trample the beautiful flowers. His cautious manner seemed somewhat comical to outsiders. At least the "person" watching him from inside the house found him quite amusing.
Chongyun's attention was focused on the wildly growing flowers. It wasn't until he reached the door that he saw the smiling, dark blue-haired boy looking at him.
Chongyun looked up and saw that the boy's golden eyes were full of smiles. "Hello, what brings you here?"
The boy's voice was very pleasant, making Chongyun feel dizzy.
"Hello, my name is Chongyun!"
Chongyun almost blushed as he called out his name. The dark blue-haired boy was clearly surprised, but seeing Chongyun's extremely shy expression, he still laughed out loud. His laughter was melodious and a rare sound in this valley.
Chongyun felt even more shy looking at the boy's hearty smile.
The boy laughed for a while, and after a long pause, he seemed to recover and said seriously to Chongyun, "You're really interesting. Hello, my name is Xingqiu."
Just then, a gentle breeze stirred, ruffling Chongyun's hair and the boy's deep blue hair. In that instant as his hair fluttered, the boy's smile was etched into Chongyun's heart.
Chongyun unconsciously placed his hand on his chest, feeling his heart pounding rapidly. Although he didn't quite understand it, Chongyun liked this feeling very much.
Chongyun followed Xingqiu into the house. The interior of the wooden house was furnished rather exquisitely, but there weren't many things inside. The furnishings that attracted Chongyun's attention the most were a neat desk by the window and a bookshelf next to it.
Chongyun looked at the various books on the bookshelf. Most of them looked very old, some even so old that the seams were cracked. But they were all well taken care of by Xingqiu, and Chongyun could tell that these books had been carefully looked after.
Sitting at a small table, Chongyun couldn't resist his curiosity and asked Xingqiu, "Do you really enjoy reading?"
Xingqiu brewed the tea, then took the tea set to the table and poured a cup for Chongyun. Upon hearing Chongyun's question, Xingqiu's face showed a strange smile.
"I thought you were going to ask something?" The dark blue-haired boy rested his chin on his hand, seemingly intrigued by Chongyun's question. He continued, "Yes, I like it. I like reading all kinds of books. I've read all the books there."
Chongyun was surprised by Xingqiu's answer. So many books, filling an entire bookshelf! Chongyun's voice was also filled with shock, and he was a little doubtful. With so many books, this young man probably couldn't finish reading them even if he didn't sleep all night. Finally, Chongyun said with some surprise, "You're really amazing."
Xingqiu looked at Chongyun and saw the confusion in Chongyun's heart. Xingqiu stared at Chongyun intently, making Chongyun feel at a loss. After a while, Xingqiu told Chongyun, half explaining and half jokingly, "Just kidding, I haven't finished reading it yet!"
“Those are the books my grandfather left behind. I was adopted by him. He has passed away, so I am all alone here now. I was quite curious to see you here.”
Chongyun listened attentively to Xingqiu's words, and when he heard about his grandfather's passing, Chongyun lowered his head in remorse, feeling guilty that he had reminded the young man of unpleasant memories.
When Chongyun looked up again, he saw Xingqiu's golden eyes filled with laughter. Chongyun didn't know where the laughter came from; he just continued to hear the next question from the very handsome young man in front of him.
"Now that you know so much about me, shouldn't I ask you something? What are you doing here?"
