Chapter 92 (Empty Scattered) Reunion
The wanderer and Lanbailijia were both battered and disheveled from the battle. The wanderer quickly straightened himself up and then, adopting a pitiful expression, approached the man.
"Hello, I'm a homeless person. We accidentally fell here. Can you help us get out?"
The wanderer's words clearly startled Lanbailijia. It opened its little mouth as if to say something, but the wanderer hugged it and covered its mouth.
The blond boy looked at the innocent-looking homeless people, examined them carefully, and then smiled slightly. "I am Sora. Don't worry about me. Come and rest at my place for a while."
As he spoke, Kong stretched out his slender, pale fingers and wiped the bloodstains from the wanderer's cheek, which had been left from the fight. The wanderer stiffened slightly at Kong's movement, seemingly recalling some past memories, but he didn't dodge the blond boy's touch.
Sora seemed to notice the homeless man's unease, and after wiping him, he released him. Turning around, he said, "Come with me." The boy's voice sounded gentle, but only the homeless man knew that he was a wicked fellow at heart.
The wanderer hesitated for a moment, wondering whether to follow him. He glanced at Lanbailijia in his arms, then gritted his teeth and followed. The little creature was injured; wounds inflicted by monsters in the abyss required specific medicine to heal. If this little thing died, Nasida would cause trouble again.
The wanderer carried Lan Bailijia behind Kong. Kong merely glanced at the figure following behind, a cryptic smile playing on his lips. The wanderer, of course, didn't notice, otherwise he would have certainly run away without a second thought.
The lark's Lanbailijia was in poor condition; its wounds hadn't healed. Lanbailijia wanted to get down and walk on its own, but the lark wouldn't put it down. Although it looked energetic, the lark could tell from its struggles that it had already lost half its strength.
After walking for a while, the wanderer followed Kong to a makeshift camp. Seeing the simple camp, the wanderer breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed this guy really didn't remember him; otherwise, he certainly wouldn't have brought him here.
"My companion is injured, and the wound just won't heal. Do you have any ideas?" The wanderer's voice was panicked, and he looked at the empty space with a tearful expression.
The wanderer knew that this was the kind of performance this guy liked best, and he had fooled him the first time they met using the same method. Unfortunately, it stopped working later.
Kong stared at the homeless man, his expression froze, and he lowered his head, his eyes swirling with emotion. When he looked up again, his expression was gentle. "Don't worry, there's medicine here that can heal its wounds."
After saying that, Kong turned around, found some ointment, and handed it to the wanderer. The wanderer breathed a sigh of relief and applied the ointment to Lan Bailijia. Lan Bailijia knew it was a useful ointment, and although it hurt, she endured the pain. The ointment was very effective; at least after applying it, the bleeding from Lan Bailijia's wound stopped.
Seeing that Lan Bailijia's condition was improving, the wanderer turned to look at Kong, who was sitting to the side. The blond boy had handsome features and smiled at the wanderer when he noticed him looking over.
The wanderer recalled their past interactions; back then, he was an executor who had been sent to explore the abyss multiple times. It was only after these numerous explorations that he got to know this guy.
At first, neither of them knew the other's identity. At that time, the stragglers had lost all their men and were filled with resentment that had nowhere to be vented. And so, an executive officer and a prince began their wanderings together.
Life in the abyss was difficult, but the dim environment quickly strengthened their bonds. They fought together and searched for shelter together. Although life was tough, it was a rare period of peace.
It wasn't until the Doctor found him that the Scatterborn realized the person who had been by his side for so long was the decision-maker of the Abyss. The Scatterborn left in anger, believing that Sora must have known his identity long ago and was probably already laughing at him.
Kong tried to explain, but the soldier wouldn't listen. Left with no other option, the prince imprisoned the doll in the palace until several other officials demanded its release, at which point the soldier was freed. Afterwards, the two remained entangled, their relationship unclear.
The wanderer was lost in thought, pondering his past memories. When he came to his senses, he realized that Sora was staring at him. The wanderer composed himself and looked at Sora pitifully again.
"Do you have any way to send us away?" The redness at the corners of the wanderer's eyes seemed to be the sound of tears, and it made my hollow head feel hot.
Kong stared at the wanderer, and only spoke when the wanderer looked on in confusion: "I have no other choice either, but I can help you find your way back." The wanderer was speechless; this guy clearly had a way to open that strange teleportation portal.
After Kong finished speaking, his gaze fell on Lan Bailijia, who was lying drowsy in the wanderer's arms. "Is this Lanaluo? You two seem to get along very well."
The wanderer lowered his eyes, glanced at Lanalo, and then answered Kong, "It is my companion."
"I see, so you're partners."
Upon hearing the homeless man's reply, a flicker of emotion crossed Sora's eyes, and he felt quite uncomfortable. Sora suppressed his anger, deciding to take the disobedient doll back first.
Kong took out a water bottle and asked the homeless man, "Are you thirsty? Would you like some water?"
The wanderer shook his head and refused. He wanted to leave the camp; after all, he didn't know why the guy in front of him was unwilling to see them off. The wanderer decided to find a way himself.
Sora seemed to sense the wanderer's intention to leave and told him, "This little guy's wounds haven't healed yet, so he should rest for a while."
"After all, it's your companion, isn't it?"
Kong's tone was somewhat low, giving his normally gentle boyish voice a different kind of emotion. The wanderer, however, paid little attention; his mind was preoccupied with where a passageway might appear that could lead him out of the abyss.
Hearing Kong's words, the wanderer thought for a moment and agreed. Lanbailijia, who had been asleep on the wanderer's lap for some time, looked as cute as the other Lanalo.
Sora sat down beside the homeless man, looking at his profile just as she had years ago. The homeless man felt Sora's approach and was initially a little nervous, but gradually relaxed.
"I don't know why, but the moment I saw you, you felt so familiar." In the dim abyss, Kong's golden eyes gleamed in the flickering firelight. The wanderer stared at Kong, somewhat lost in thought, and didn't reply.
"Would you like to lean on me and rest for a while?"
For some reason, the homeless man leaned on Kong's shoulder. Perhaps he still had some affection for this awful fellow; the homeless man chuckled inwardly at the thought. But the emotions stirring within him were impossible to suppress.
