Chapter 81 (Zhimiao) Little Rabbit, Be Good 3
Kavi enjoys drinking, but his alcohol tolerance is rather low. Perhaps it's due to the effects of his beast-like transformation, but his face was already flushed before he even finished a bottle of alcohol.
Slightly tipsy, Kavi sat on the sofa, leaning against Elhesen. He pressed his face against Elhesen's arm, quietly resting on him, looking at the book in Elhesen's hands.
Suddenly, Kavi said, "I've read this book too. We read it together when we were studying at the Order Academy." Kavi closed his eyes and spoke softly.
Al-Hysen felt the warmth on his arm, a warmth that seemed to travel up his arm and into his heart. "Yes, we read this book together."
After saying this, Elhesen closed the book and placed it on the table in front of the sofa, then let Kavi lie on his lap. Elhesen brought his palm close to Kavi's flushed cheek, but Kavi hugged him back and gently rubbed his face against Elhesen's.
“We were separated for a long time.” Kavi’s words carried a hint of sadness. Perhaps because he had drunk a little, Kavi was thinking about things from a long time ago. He thought about their unfinished project, how they parted ways, and their reunion after a long separation.
As Elhesen listened to Kavi's voice, his emerald eyes gazing at the person on his lap, filled with tenderness. "So, I don't want to be separated from you again."
Alhesen's words made Kavi open his eyes. He rarely heard Alhesen express his emotions so directly. Most of the time, Alhesen was silent and reserved, and although he might sometimes be sharp-tongued, that was only towards outsiders.
"Tomorrow I'll go to that secret realm you visited before with Seno and the others again. I don't want you to go in too; your current condition isn't good."
Al-Hysen stated his thoughts directly, "I will take you to the hospital, and Tina will give you another check-up."
Listening to Elhesen's words, Kavi had already anticipated that Elhesen would do something because of him. Kavi understood his current physical condition; at least since this morning, the elemental energy within him had been somewhat abnormal. It was also expected that Elhesen would notice something was wrong with his body.
Kavi covered his eyes, and it took Elhesen a while to hear his reply. "I'm sorry."
Al-Hysen brushed Kavi's hand away. He could see a mist forming in Kavi's eyes. With a sigh, Al-Hysen told Kavi, "It's not your fault, and you're not a problem. You're good, very good. You're the most important person in my life."
Tears welled up in Kavi's eyes as Elhesen spoke, a mixture of bittersweet emotions and the gratitude of being recognized. In short, Kavi's emotions were complex; he couldn't control his tears.
Elhesen gently wiped away Kavi's tears with his fingertips, a gentle touch that Kavi could never refuse.
"I understand, I will be good... I will wait for you to come back."
Kavi's voice was slightly choked up. The influence of alcohol and Alheisen's affection for him had made him docile, like a pampered rabbit. Rabbits rarely cry out in pain, and Kavi would not give up in the face of difficulties.
The next day, Kavi met with Tinari.
After several days of busy work, the usually impeccably dressed forest ranger looked somewhat haggard. Upon seeing Kavi, Tinari's expression softened. "You're here. Come on, let's get a full medical check-up first."
After saying that, Tina grabbed Kavi and hurriedly headed towards the room with the equipment. Kavi could only exchange a few words with Elhesen before being pulled away.
Kavi was still very worried about Elhesen in the room. Tinari noticed his worry and said, "Don't worry, they brought other reliable companions with them. Nothing will happen. Lift up the clothes on your stomach and hold them down."
Kavi obediently lifted his shirt and then asked, "Are there other people? Are they reliable?"
Tina smiled upon hearing this, and then continued, "Of course it's reliable. There are some disciplinary officials, and a few scholars who study history."
Tinari put away the instrument for measuring elemental concentration, turned to Kavi and continued, "Even if you weren't involved in this, Elhesen would probably still be invited to that ruin. After all, his research on ancient scripts is unparalleled."
"You don't need to worry too much, they are well prepared."
After finishing his explanation, Tina focused intently on the data displayed on the instrument. Kavi, on the other hand, seemed thoughtful, calming his anxieties and cooperating fully with Tina's examination.
Tinari packed up her things to prepare for the next check-up, then continued questioning Kavi: "Hmm, your condition is relatively stable. Also, is there anything strange about how you use elemental power right now?"
Kavi recalled the difficulties he experienced when using elemental power that morning, and nodded. "It felt a bit strange. I wouldn't say it was unusable, but it just felt very odd."
Tinari nodded to indicate that he understood. "This is because your body is converging with that of an orc. If your ears and tail are not fixed, you will remain the same until you become a true orc."
At this point, Tinari sighed, "We don't yet know what kind of adverse effects yourselves, beings transformed from humans into beastmen, will suffer. In any case, it's something to be wary of."
Kavi seemed lost in thought. He touched his ears, still feeling a bit uncomfortable. If possible, he'd rather go back to normal. That's what Kavi thought.
On the other hand, Elhesen also followed the group towards that secret realm. The journey was rather long, after all, it was in the desert, and it took the group almost a day to reach the outer entrance of the ruins.
There was a camp near the ruins, and the entrance was guarded by other disciplinary officers. When they saw Seno arrive with his men, the guards at the entrance lowered their guard.
"Lord Seno."
Sino nodded, then asked him about his recent situation. Only when he heard that everything was normal did Sino relax a little and turn to leave. When he approached Elhesen, Sino found him reading a book.
"Truly worthy of being the Chief Secretary..."
Seno opened his mouth to tell his lame joke, but was interrupted by Elhesen.
"I hope you can stop that unfunny joke. The desert night is already cold enough; there's no need to add to the unnecessary chill."
Al-Hysen looked down at the familiar book, engrossed in reading without lifting his head. A cold wind blew in at night, but both of them remained strong and didn't shiver.
But Seno felt that Elhesen's words were even colder than his own lame jokes, at least Seno found them very cold.
