Chapter 69 (Xiao Kong) Turning Around to Embrace the Sea 7

Dinner was spent in silent sighs. He had made Ying's favorite dishes, but they were burnt. They could only make do with what they had.

After eating, Ying went to watch TV by herself, while Sora took Xiao to his bedroom. He decided to have a serious talk with Xiao, at least to find out how he became human and found himself. Tonight was both a pleasant surprise and a terrifying experience for Sora.

"So, shouldn't you tell me what exactly happened, Xiao?"

Xiao sat obediently in front of Sora, speaking slowly with peculiar pauses. Sora wasn't in a hurry, patiently listening to him, and he roughly understood some things.

"So you're not the only merman in this world; your kind also lives in the human world!"

Kong was somewhat impressed, then asked, "So how did you find me?"

Xiao pointed to the white mark on the back of Kong's hand. Kong looked down at his hand and understood something.

"Oh, I see. That's great, Xiao."

Sora embraced Xiao, and the warmth of the embrace made Xiao feel somewhat lost in it again. Xiao also embraced Sora back, and he cherished Sora's warmth, not just the feeling itself, but also the tenderness Sora gave him.

"I was planning to settle on that island, and I was supposed to leave tomorrow, but I didn't expect to meet you today. I'm so happy, Xiao."

"If there's still a problem, will you come with us on the boat tomorrow? Will you find it difficult to live on land? Oh, by the way, would you like to soak in the water for a while?"

Sora leaned on Xiao's shoulder and talked a lot. When she talked about Xiao's condition, she grabbed Xiao's hand in a little panic.

Xiao simply shook his head. "It's alright, it doesn't matter now."

Sora calmed down after hearing Xiao's reply. He took Xiao's fingers, which he had just grabbed, and touched and squeezed them with interest. Xiao's hands were pale as if they hadn't seen the sun in a long time; his fingers were slender, his palms were strong, but they weren't warm.

When Sora touched between his fingers, he noticed that the thin, transparent membranes that had been there were gone. Sora then looked up and saw Xiao's face, noticing that Xiao's golden eyes were looking at him, and that Xiao looked away slightly after meeting Sora's gaze.

Sora chuckled and noticed that Xiao's ears were slightly red, as if they had been smeared with rouge. Sora immediately touched them, and Xiao flinched but didn't flinch. Sora touched the soft part of the ear; it was different from before. Now it looked completely human.

Xiao pursed his lips, not rejecting Sora, but simply hugging Sora's waist as he nestled into his arms.

Sora's eyes darted around, and suddenly she thought of something. "Let me see your tail!"

With that, Sora pounced on Xiao and pinned him to the bed. Xiao didn't react in time and was indeed knocked down. Sora lifted Xiao's shirt and touched his waist and abdomen. It was a pale, muscular area without scales, just a layer of muscle, looking very strong.

Before Sora could even lower his hand, Xiao grabbed it. Sora looked up and saw that Xiao's face was already red, probably from shyness, with a faint blush on his neck as well. His golden eyes were even more shy, and when he noticed Sora's gaze, his eyes darted away.

"No...don't touch me anymore."

"elder brother."

Before Sora could say anything, he heard Ying's voice from the doorway. Sora had been so engrossed in playing that he hadn't noticed when Ying had arrived. Xiao probably had, which was why he stopped Sora from touching himself any further.

Ying stood in the doorway, holding the drink she had just finished, the bottle now rattling loudly from her grip. Noticing Sora's gaze, Ying gave him a sweet smile. Sora, however, felt a chill. Xiao simply put his arm around Sora's waist, who was leaning against him, without saying a word or getting up.

"We have plenty of rooms, so you don't need to live together, right, brother?"

Ying smiled so gently that Kong felt a little flustered. Kong immediately got up and stopped clinging to Xiao. Xiao felt a sense of loss as he felt empty. Xiao looked up and met Ying's gaze, and at the same time, a thought came to him, "She's a troublesome one, not easy to deal with."

Kong smiled awkwardly; he didn't want his sister to see him being affectionate with his lover.

"Ah, haha, then I'll go tidy up the room."

Sora straightened up, preparing to leave the room, and whispered to Xiao, "Wait here for me for a bit." Then he walked to Ying's side, and Ying took her brother's arm. Without Sora noticing, he turned around and gave Xiao a defiant nod.

Xiao saw it, but said nothing; his eyes remained deep and thoughtful.

After tidying everything up that night, everyone went to sleep. Xiao's room was specially chosen by Ying. Ying had thought it through perfectly, placing herself right between her brother and this wild man, ensuring he wouldn't be able to sneak into her brother's room that night.

The bright moon hung high, and the night deepened. Thinking of Xiao, whom he had met earlier that day, Sora drifted off to sleep with a smile on his face. In his dream, Sora once again felt that sensation of his soul being called.

"Empty, empty..."

It felt like being in the sea, or more like his consciousness was floating; Sora felt his name being called. Unlike before, this time Sora tried to open his eyes. It seemed he was still in a dream; Sora saw the surrounding seawater, yet he could breathe in it.

Unlike the stormy seabed of the past, the seabed in the dream was bright and gentle. All sorts of small fish could be seen swimming around him. They were colorful, swimming in groups, and some would even approach him intimately, just like the small animals on the island.

Xiao swam to Sora's side and carried him along the seabed, making Sora feel very light. He could hear Xiao's gentle voice in his ear, which made Sora feel a little intoxicated.

Sora enjoyed his entire dream that night, and when he woke up in the morning, he was still somewhat reluctant to leave. At breakfast, Hotaru sensed that something was wrong, but she couldn't figure out what had happened, so she could only eat her breakfast in a huff.

Later, Sora still took Xiao with him to that deserted island, where they had a house built. Sora oversaw the entire construction process, and the house perfectly suited his and Xiao's tastes. Sora also reserved a room for Ying, the kind his sister would like.

Sora and Xiao don't always stay on the island; they often go to the mainland, and Sora even went with Xiao to meet his family.

Fushe is gentle yet easygoing, a truly reliable older brother. Mi Nu seems a bit aloof, but he's considerate and quick-witted. Yingda is the most enthusiastic, happily hugging Kong upon seeing him. Fanan is meticulous and gentle, attentive to every detail. Being with them is always very comfortable.

Time on the deserted island is slow and pleasant. Sora would sit on the beach and paint on a warm, sunny afternoon, and sometimes she would hold Xiao's hand and teach him, just as they did when they first met.

The merfolk eventually captured the treasure, and the humans willingly gave it to them.
