Chapter 58 (Knowing the Subtle) On the Traces
Kavi has been having some troubles lately.
Ever since moving into Elhesen's house, for some reason, he's been sleeping very soundly at night. And he always feels something strange pressing down on him, long and heavy, wrapping around him, tightening and tightening...
Something like vines made Kavi's dream feel heavy; he wanted to wake up but couldn't open his eyes.
After waking up, Kavi checked his body. There were no marks; his skin was still fair and smooth. However, the pressure of sleeping at night continued, and Kavi began to avoid going to bed. He would find things to do to keep himself awake.
Al-Hysen, who was living with him, also noticed that Kavi was acting strangely lately; Kavi was tapping on the model more frequently at night!
After hearing Kavi's late-night model-making sounds again, Elhesen felt he couldn't let things continue like this.
"Do you really have to stay up all night doing this kind of thing?"
Kavi looked up and saw Elhesen staring at him with a hint of resentment in his eyes.
"hey-hey."
Kavi awkwardly touched his dusty nose, so engrossed in his surroundings that he didn't notice when Elhesen had entered.
Al-Hysen looked at the embarrassed Kavi and felt a little annoyed. Since he couldn't sleep anyway, he decided to find something to amuse himself.
"What's wrong with you? Have you been working a lot lately? Why are you still up so late? Do I need to remind you that staying up late can cause hair loss?"
"Oh, so our great architect wants to be bald. What a peculiar hobby."
Sure enough, Kavi, who had initially felt guilty, immediately exploded after hearing Elhesen's words, "I won't go bald. Don't curse me!"
As she spoke, she reached out and touched her still thick hair, and said with a sigh, "Hmph, I have a lot of hair."
Unbeknownst to him, because his hands were covered in dust from model making, when he touched his hair, he ended up with even more dirt on his face. He looked like a vain little cat.
Kavi didn't notice for a moment. Elhesen smiled and didn't remind him.
Then, looking at Elhesen in front of him, Kavi somewhat irritably recounted his recent troubles with sleeping. Because he trusted Elhesen, Kavi spoke in great detail, even including how he felt when he was being pestered.
Elhesen thought for a moment, "Was the force too great?"
Kavi blushed. "Anyway...anyway, I just feel uncomfortable!" Kavi said as if shouting from the ground, his embarrassment obvious to everyone.
Elhesen looked at Kavi and smiled.
"Okay. You should go to sleep early."
He turned and left after saying that. Kavi looked at Elheisen blankly, scratching his head. "What do you know?"
Al-Hysen didn't turn around, but still answered him, "You need some medicine to get rid of the nightmares. Oh, and remember to take a shower before you go to bed."
"Was it a nightmare?" Kavi listened to Elhesen's words with some skepticism, then went into the bathroom to take a shower.
"Ah! Why am I covered in so much dirt!"
As Elhesen listened to Kavi's shouts, he thought to himself, "With such a loud noise, everyone will know they live together." But a slight smile played on his lips.
The following evening, Elhesen brought Kavi a medicine packet and told him to hang it by his bedside. Kavi took the packet, sniffed it, and found it quite pleasant.
"What is the purpose of this medicine packet?"
Kavi gently squeezed the medicine packet in his hand with his fingers, unable to figure out what was inside, but it felt soft, like a cotton doll.
Al-Hysen raised an eyebrow as he watched Kavi's actions. "It'll make you sleep more comfortably. Stop squeezing it; it's filled with ground medicine powder, wrapped in several layers of cloth, so you can't feel it."
Upon hearing Elhesen's words, Kavi stopped fiddling with the medicine packet. His fingertips twitched slightly, as if he were a little embarrassed at being caught.
Kavi blushed slightly. "Okay, I got it. I'll hang it up right away. Let me see if I'll have any more dreams tonight."
As he spoke, Kavi immediately looked for tools, intending to place the medicine packet by the bedside. Elhesen leaned against the doorframe, watching Kavi turn left and then right, like a busy hamster, which was rather cute.
Kavi finally found a suitable tool to place the hook by the bedside, then hung the medicine bag on it. He looked at his work with satisfaction and smiled smugly. Turning his head, he saw Al-Hysen looking at him with a smile in his eyes.
"Ugh! You just watch me struggle by myself without offering to help. You...you really are something else." Kavi pointed at Elhesen and complained angrily.
Elhesen looked at Kavi, not angry at all, and said in a calm tone, "Didn't I give you the medicine pack? You should at least thank me first, senior."
"Hmph!" Kavi arrogantly turned his face away. A moment later, he turned back and thanked Elhesen in a soft voice.
"I don't know if it will work, but thank you anyway."
That night, before falling asleep, Kavi glanced at the medicine packet on his bedside table, feeling a sense of peace. Smelling the faint fragrance, Kavi drifted off to sleep without realizing it.
A good night's sleep.
When Kavi woke up the next morning, he felt refreshed and in a great mood. After getting up and washing up, Kavi continued to draw the draft he hadn't finished before, humming an off-key tune as he drew.
Al-Hysen left early and didn't come home for lunch, leaving Kavi at home enjoying his leisure. He ate something casually and continued with his work.
Perhaps because he slept so well last night, Kavi finished the rest of his work in the afternoon. Holding the sketches in his hands, Kavi thought to himself, "Surely the client is satisfied now." Kavi carefully placed the sketches away and put them away.
Standing by the window, Kavi gazed at the beautiful scenery outside and lazily stretched. Thinking that Elhesen would be home soon, he decided to prepare something for him to eat as a way of repaying him for the useful medicine kit.
So, as soon as Alhesen opened the door, he saw Kavi poking his head out of the kitchen after taking only a few steps.
"You're back. Dinner's ready. Come help me serve the dishes in a bit."
Elheisen was a little surprised to hear Kavi's voice. He went closer to the kitchen and found that Kavi had already prepared dinner. Kavi looked at Elheisen approaching and said cheerfully, "Are you hungry already? Let's take it over and eat together."
El-Heinz looked into Kavi's bright eyes, like flickering flames. He realized he really liked Kavi this way—proud and lively.
So he nodded, "Okay."
At dinner, Kavi praised the medicine packet, saying it was very effective and he slept very well. Al-Hysen listened to Kavi's words, a slight smile playing on his lips, but his expression remained somewhat ambiguous.
