Chapter 37 (Knowing the Subtle) The Bird's Poem 3
Why are you crying?
Strangely, Elhesen was initially somewhat angry, but upon seeing Kavi's aggrieved little face and feeling his tears, the anger in his heart suddenly deflated like a punctured balloon, shrinking and shrinking until it disappeared completely.
"Waaah... I'm sorry, I made you worry." Kavi looked at Elhesen with tears in his red eyes, his voice full of guilt and choked with sobs.
Kavi didn't know why he suddenly started crying; it was just that seeing Elheisen overwhelmed him with emotions. He wasn't afraid of the dark, nor was he afraid of being captured, but he was afraid of being forgotten.
Elheisen's arrival filled Kavi with a sense of security, making him realize that someone cared about him, that someone loved him, and that someone would look for him when he was gone. Although the stubborn Elheisen wouldn't admit it, Kavi knew clearly that Elheisen cared about him, just as he cared about Elheisen.
"Don't cry, let's go home."
Looking at Kavi, who was still unable to stop crying, Elhesen reached out and wiped his cheek with his thumb. Because of Elhesen's search, his hands were a little dusty, and his wiping not only failed to clean the tears, but also added a gray mark to Kavi's face.
Elhesen suddenly laughed, "You're all dirty, you look like a clown."
The silly child in his arms, of course, didn't notice that his face was all dirty. He was even sobbing as he told him that he was a bird, not a cat, and that he wasn't dirty. He glanced at his dusty clothes, paused for a moment, and said, "I'll take a bath, I'll be clean."
The moon was bright, illuminating their way home. The surroundings were also beautiful, glowing softly in the moonlight.
Kavi nestled in Elhesen's hand, feeling an unprecedented sense of security and peace of mind. Elhesen carefully cradled the clumsy boy in his arms; his wings still bore some minor cuts from the struggle, which he would have to examine closely when they got home.
El-Heinz was very quick; the lights were still on in the house.
Back home, Kavi saw the dust on his body more clearly and insisted on taking a bath. Elhesen could only carefully wrap Kavi's wings and let him bathe.
Kavi had only been in the bathroom a short while when he made a sound, followed by the sound of running water. When Kavi came out of the bathroom, Elhesen saw a small, wet figure running towards him, holding a pen that he had somehow found, and repeatedly poking his ankle.
"Damn you, Elheisen! What did you do to my perfect face?! I just noticed that huge dirt mark, you bastard! You're so mean!"
Kavi, dressed but with his hair still dripping wet, was immediately grabbed by Elhesen. Elhesen also took the pen from Kavi's hand and placed it on the table beside him.
"Stop fooling around, why didn't you dry your hair?"
Al-Hysen gently took a small handkerchief and wiped Kavi's hair. Ignoring Kavi's fuss, he unwrapped its wings and cleaned them little by little with a damp towel. Then he applied some medicine to its injured area with cotton swabs.
Fortunately, there weren't many injuries; most were just some soft feathers that had been ripped off while Kavi was struggling, as well as some minor abrasions.
Kavi continued to chatter in Elhesen's hands, only quieting down slightly when Elhesen treated his wings, and even trembling slightly while applying medicine.
"Let's see if you run around like that again next time."
Elhesen's voice came over, and Kavi's voice, which had been quiet, rang out again.
"It's not my fault, it was just an accident."
Kavi, somewhat angrily, grabbed Elhesen's fingers, which were trying to move away, with considerable force.
"At least no one will fall into a trap themselves after helping others."
Elhesen didn't break free from Kavi, but raised his fingers slightly, watching Kavi rise with them. He smiled mischievously at him.
"It's time to go have dinner."
Kavi hadn't said anything to Elheisen, and he was seething with anger. But when he saw the food, he was happy again, because there was his favorite mushroom soup on the table. As he approached the table, he happily went to his little seat and began to eat with pleasure.
In the following days, because of the small wound on his wing, Aylheimer bandaged it. Kavi was unable to fly as a result and stayed by Aylheimer's side all day.
Because he couldn't go out to play, Kavi would always chatter and make a ruckus whenever he clung to Elhesen. Elhesen, however, didn't seem to mind the noise, and sometimes even responded to Kavi, feeling a bit pleased to see him puff up in a huff because of him.
Time passed slowly, and Kavi's wounds gradually healed. The bandages on his wings were removed, revealing dazzling crimson feathers that cast a warm red hue upon Kavi.
Kavi flapped his wings and successfully took flight again. He circled around the house, making Elhesen a little dizzy. Finally, Kavi sat on Elhesen's shoulder, happily twirling his hair with his fingers, and stayed obediently by his side for a long time.
Al-Hysen was very focused on his work. These past few days, because he was taking care of Kavi, he brought some of his documents home to finish. His workload wasn't heavy, and bringing them home was convenient.
After finishing his work, Elhesen looked up. He suddenly realized that Kavi, who was beside him, seemed to have been silent for a while. Had he gone out to play again? Elhesen moved his gaze and found Kavi propping his chin up and looking at him.
Her wine-red eyes were beautiful, staring intently at him. Seemingly noticing that Elhesen's work was finished, Kavi stood on the table and waved excitedly at Elhesen. His voice, neither too loud nor too soft, reached Elhesen's ears.
"Elheisen, come closer."
Kavi looked at Elhesen, gesturing incessantly with his hands. Elhesen was also curious about what Kavi was going to do, so he moved closer.
"Oh dear, you're so clumsy, lower it, lower it."
Elhesen obediently lowered his head again.
At this moment, Kavi was finally facing Elhesen directly, and he approached step by step. Elhesen was also looking at him intently.
Kavi raised his hands, placed them on Elhesen's lips, tilted his chin up, closed his crimson eyes, and kissed the tip of his nose.
Kavi's kiss was small and light. Elhesen's eyes widened in disbelief. He stared intently at Kavi kissing him and noticed his wings trembling unnaturally.
