Chapter 33 (Zhong Kong) Taming Side Story

"Kong, I've finally found you!"

Paimon rushed over as soon as he saw Kong, snuggling close to him affectionately. Then, looking up with his chubby, smiling face, he asked Kong, "Didn't we agree to take Xiangling to the snow mountain to find the wild boar? Where have you gone? I can't find you anywhere."

Kong pinched Paimon's chubby cheeks, then slapped her own head. "Oh dear, I forgot! Luckily, Mr. Zhongli found me." She raised her hands and looked at Xiangling and Guoba who were walking towards her. "Sorry, sorry."

Xiangling blushed slightly upon hearing this, scratching her cheek with her finger. "It's nothing, it was my fault for troubling you anyway." Guoba looked at Xiangling and then at Kong, scratching his furry belly with some confusion. Then he adjusted the bamboo basket on his back, ready to set off at any moment.

After the group reunited, the Traveler used the anchor point to teleport to the snowy mountains of Mondstadt. The mountains were perpetually covered in snow, and as far as the eye could see, only a few tenacious pine trees stood tall, surrounded by a silvery-white landscape. The group was immediately met with a gust of cold wind upon arrival. Guoba shivered slightly, and Xiangling quickly helped him put on a special vest, then patted his soft belly. Paimon, who had been to the mountains several times with Kong, adapted well.

"Everyone get ready. I remember the Wild Boar King is in that cave. I'm going to lure it out." Kong took out his bladeless sword, told his companions, and then approached the cave to attract the target.

As expected, the king boar emerged quickly. It was several times larger than the other boars, with a brownish-white body and a fluffy collar around its neck. Its back had distinct white stripes, its ears were slightly raised, and its snout was relatively long. Most striking were its two sharp tusks, pressed firmly against its lower jaw, giving it a very imposing appearance.

Although the Boar King was imposing, the hunters were far more powerful. Without sustaining any injuries, Sora and Xiangling defeated the Boar King. Xiangling then quickly dismantled the Boar King using her superior skills. With their spoils, Sora reopened the teleportation point and arrived in Liyue.

Unlike the snow-capped mountains, Liyue is blessed with gentle breezes and sunshine.

Xiangling rushed to the kitchen to study new recipes, with Paimon following closely behind. Seeing Kong turn and leave, Xiangling was puzzled and was about to call out to him when Paimon stopped her.

“No need to call him anymore. Ever since he started dating Mr. Zhongli, he hasn’t eaten anything made by anyone else. He says Mr. Zhongli is special.” At this point, Paimon stomped his foot in the air, somewhat angrily.

"Hmph, that stingy guy! At first I could eat a bite, but later he wouldn't let me eat any of Zhongli's food, even though he said it was for my own good. I think he's just stingy."

"He's probably off to find Zhongli again. Let's ignore him and go eat all this meat."

Xiangling was puzzled by what she heard, but simply nodded and went back to her studies with great enthusiasm. She truly loved cooking and was willing to devote a lot of time and energy to it.

Sora was in a cheerful mood, and his presence seemed to permeate the air around him. Passersby recognized the famous traveler, and Sora would happily greet them. Sora didn't hear Paimon's complaints, but even if he had, he wouldn't have reacted much. He might just smile, pat her head, and comfort her.

What Paimon didn't know was...

When Kong first ate the food, he didn't notice anything wrong. But upon the second bite, his body, born from the Star Sea, sensed something was amiss. Kong wasn't stupid; he couldn't fathom why Zhongli wanted to harm him. They had only recently fallen in love, and Kong could see Zhongli's affection for him. Excluding poisoning, the astute traveler quickly figured it out.

Kong conducted a simple experiment, feeding the food to a fungus. Although he knew Zhongli wouldn't harm him, Kong was curious about the consequences of the food.

The result surprised Sora somewhat; so that's how it was. Sora wasn't afraid of the mushroom beast's fate; he simply finished it off swiftly. To thank it for its contribution, Sora gave its body a proper burial and even erected a small tombstone.

Aside from that, Kong wasn't angry at all. He could strangely understand Zhongli; she was just insecure. Kong almost laughed. It turned out that even the most ancient god could be insecure like a child. And she'd even secretly tampered with his food. But then again, this was probably his first lover, so I was his first experience. Thinking of this, Kong felt a little happy.

It's okay, none of this is a problem. I love you, and I will understand you. That's what Sora was thinking.

Then, little by little, he carefully ate the food Zhongli offered him. Ignoring Paimon's longing gaze, he slowly and methodically finished the food Zhongli had prepared for him. He ate it all, leaving not a single bite. Then, resting his chin on his hand, he watched with interest as Paimon, who was practically fuming with anger, nearly burst into flames. Then, just as Paimon was about to pull his hair out of anger, he quickly promised to take her to eat something even more delicious.

These things are definitely not for Paimon, that idiot, to eat.

Kong comes from the Star Sea. He and his twin sisters have traversed numerous worlds, bringing not only increased experience and enhanced skills, but also physical strength and self-purification. It could be said that the food Zhongli gave him, even if it had some effect on him, wouldn't be severe. At most, it would only make him miss his lover more in his spare time. But Kong already missed him anyway.

He would miss his lover's cool fingertips, the golden tassels hanging by his ear, the faint glow of his hair when he used his power... His lover, as steadfast and unwavering as a rock, would never waver. How could he not miss him?

So it's okay, I'll meet your anxieties, I'll reciprocate your abundant love, and I'll eat all the food you give me. If this makes you feel secure, then anything is fine.

He daydreamed about Zhongli's golden eyes, and his heart was filled with joy.

The weather in Liyue is so nice. I wonder if Mr. Zhongli and Xiao have finished talking. Kong didn't intend to involve Xiao in this matter, but he was careless today and made a mistake with the ingredients. However, Xiao seems to know something, so I'll have to explain it to him later.

How should I put it? I can't exactly say it's just something between young lovers.

Kong was a little troubled, but not for long. He then saw Zhongli sitting there listening to the story.

"Mr. Zhongli, I'm back!" Kong quietly sat down and whispered in Zhongli's ear. The storyteller remained enthusiastic, telling the story with great expression.

Zhongli looked down and saw Kong's golden pupils, as thick as honey, and then took his hand.

The rock thought it had bound the stars, but it didn't know that the brilliant stars from beyond the sea of stars had attached themselves to the rock.
