Chapter 23 (Zhimiao) The Golden Rose from the Desert 4
The morning after a hangover was unpleasant for Kavi. However, his lover's thoughtfulness made him feel much better.
Getting out of bed, Kavi rubbed his face and habitually looked towards the bedside table. Sure enough, he saw a glass of water and a note placed by Elheisen on the bedside table.
"Get up and drink some water. After you've tidied up, go to the kitchen; I've left you some food. If you have a headache, take the hangover medicine on the table."
Kavi smiled as he looked at the note, then picked up his water glass and took a sip. He then followed the instructions on the note step by step.
Kavi didn't really want to eat breakfast, but according to the note, he could only eat a little. After all, if Elhesen came back and found that the food in the kitchen hadn't been touched, his allowance for alcohol next month would definitely be drastically reduced.
Meanwhile, Elhesen arrived at Casazale Palace, where Dolly and he had arranged to meet.
Surprisingly, when Elheisen arrived, there was not only Dolly, but also a somewhat embarrassed traveler and Paimon, whom she was carrying.
Upon seeing Elheisen's arrival, the Traveler put Paimon down, scratched his head, and said somewhat apologetically, "Sorry, I was busy with a commission when I sold this seed to Dolly. I left this matter to Paimon."
"I didn't expect that this glutton was so busy eating that she forgot what I told her. When Dolly came to me today, I realized that this idiot hadn't told you about the precautions."
As Ying finished speaking, she tapped Paimon on the head. Paimon looked up at Elheisen apologetically.
"I'm sorry to have wasted so much of your time."
Perhaps it was because he had spent so much time with Kavi that Elhesen's temper had improved considerably. He sighed, refrained from blaming Paimon, and then turned to the Traveler.
"So why didn't that seed sprout?"
The traveler immediately replied, "Before planting it, you have to break its outer shell hard. Otherwise, it won't sprout, no matter how much water you give it or how much sunlight it gets."
"After breaking the shell and planting it, just water it well for a few days and let it get some sunlight, and it will sprout in no more than a week. Remember to use some herb-based plant extracts. It will also bloom quickly and for a long time, and the flowers will be a beautiful golden color."
Al-Hysen pondered, "So that's how it is. It seems the shell was too hard, preventing the seed from germinating."
Dolly, who had been listening for a long time, finally couldn't help but speak up.
"Traveler, where did you find this seed? Even I, who have been a merchant for many years, have rarely seen a golden rose that can grow in the desert. If you hadn't provided this seed, I would have sent someone to 'make' one myself."
Upon hearing this, Elhesen glanced lightly at Dolly, who, unperturbed, smiled and looked at Ying.
Before Ying could say anything after hearing Dolly's words, Paimon, who had become lively again upon seeing that no one was blaming her, replied excitedly.
"We met an old man behind Aru Village. These seeds had been bothering us for days! We watered them for days, but there was no sign of them growing. It was only after the travelers asked around that they remembered to break the shells and finally grow the roses."
Little Paimon flew through the air, explaining the origin of the seeds with both hands and feet. Its chubby little face, fed by Ying, trembled from the large movements.
The people around Paimon were amused by his antics. Although he was unreliable at times, the little guy was really cute.
Ying was the happiest. She looked at Dolly and said, "So if you want to sell these seeds, you'd better go find that old man and see if he can provide a supply."
Just as the two were about to start talking, Al-Hysen suddenly said, "Now that the problem is solved, I'll head home. Traveler, thank you for the tip. If you need help next time, feel free to come to me."
After saying that, he turned and left. Watching Elhesen quickly depart, Ying felt that his demeanor was just like when he used to say to her, "This is private time now, goodbye." Tsk tsk, still as efficient as ever!
Elhesen hurried home and opened the door to find Kavi standing on the balcony, casually poking at the soil in a flowerpot. Mehrak floated beside him, his eyes gleaming, seemingly doing nothing.
When Kavi saw Elhesen enter, his eyes lit up.
"You're back. How did it go? What's the deal with this seed?"
Kavi sidled up to Elhesen, clinging to him like a big, obedient golden retriever with a fluffy tail.
Al-Hysen grabbed Kavi, who was leaning closer, and led him to the balcony. He took the seeds out of the flowerpot, then used both hands to crack the hard outer shells of the seeds, and handed them to Kavi, gesturing for him to take a look.
"The traveler said that you have to break the outer shell before planting it, otherwise it won't sprout."
Kavi looked at Elhesen's actions with a bit of confusion, and then took the seed.
Once the outer shell is broken, the tender green inside is fully revealed, and the slight pale yellow makes the seed look even more delicate.
Kavi held the vibrant seed in his hands, observed it carefully, and then gently planted it in a flowerpot.
With Kavi's hopeful expectation, the seeds were finally able to grow normally.
Settling, sprouting, growing, breaking through the soil.
In just two days, the seed sprouted rapidly. Each time Elhesen infused it with grass elemental power, it appeared even more vibrant. Kavi also diligently recorded the changes in this tiny life.
In the first week, it began to sprout new branches and grow taller and taller. The slender branches worried Kavi, so he moved the flowerpot to the inside.
By the second week, it had grown to arm's length. A delicate, pale-colored flower bud adorned its petals. When Kavi wasn't home, Al-Hysen would sometimes sit on the balcony reading.
In the third week, the buds gradually opened, and pale golden petals began to peek out. Kavila and Elhesen stood on the balcony, intently watching the flowers bloom.
The flower slowly bloomed, and perhaps due to the infusion of grass elements, golden light flowed around the center of the flower. It was a very beautiful rose, with a stamen as white as moonlight and petals that were a gradient of gold.
From any angle, she perfectly matched Kavi's aesthetic; she was practically his dream girl. Elhesen didn't react much, but Kavi's happiness made him happy too. Although his expression didn't reveal anything, his emotions were much gentler.
"Elheisen, we really grew roses!"
Kavi pointed excitedly at the rose and looked at Elhesen, his eyes brimming with undisguised joy. Mehrak, somewhat puzzled by Kavi's emotions, kept changing his expression.
"Well, it looks good."
Looking at Kavi's bright, sunny smile, Elhesen felt a strange sense of satisfaction and joy. Just keep smiling like this; that's enough. I will try my best to give you all the beautiful things in the world.
And so, this golden rose bloomed in this house. When the wind blew, the rose swayed like a butterfly fluttering in the air.
