Chapter 22 (Zhimiao) The Golden Rose from the Desert 3

Kavi planted the seed with a somewhat reverent attitude. Elhesen stood aside and handed him the prepared watering can.

Kavi took the watering can and generously poured water onto the flowerpot. Then he placed the pot in a sunny spot, giving the nascent flower as much care as possible.

"This seed will surely sprout soon." After placing the flowerpot in place, Kavi turned to Elhesen with a cheerful smile. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating Kavi's smiling face—bright and warm.

Elhesen felt his heart flutter again; his silly senior always managed to make his heart flutter in strange and unexpected ways.

"Yes, it will definitely bloom into beautiful flowers."

About a week later, when the seeds still showed no signs of sprouting, Tinari's invitation arrived first. The Grand Disciplinary Officer, who had been busy and rarely seen for a long time, was finally on vacation. A delighted Tinari immediately prepared a party and invited them to dinner.

Kavi was delighted to receive the invitation, temporarily setting aside his worries about the seeds not germinating. He decided to take Elhesen to the party first.

In the evening, there were few people in front of the pavilion in Zen Garden, but the scenery was still beautiful. Lush green branches enveloped the pavilion, and scattered Patilansha flowers bloomed around, bringing a light fragrance. The setting sun shone on the surrounding scenery, making it look like an oil painting.

Clearly, the beautiful scenery pleased the great architect greatly; he walked ahead in high spirits, humming a traditional Sumerian tune softly. Elhesen followed behind Kavi, watching the cheerful Kavi ahead, and felt quite pleased as well.

A small lamp was lit inside the pavilion, and several people were already standing there.

"Hi, Tinari, Seno. Oh, little Cole's here too. How have you been lately? Any difficulties with your studies?" Kavi greeted everyone first, catching Cole off guard with his question.

Seno opened his mouth as if to say something, but Tinari quickly covered his mouth and nodded to Kavi. Cole then spoke.

"Everything's been fine lately, no problems. It's just that I still get a little sleepy when memorizing things." Cole said, rubbing her cheek sheepishly.

Tinari comforted Cole, "Don't rush, take your time. If you feel sleepy, just get a good night's sleep."

Although Tinari was somewhat strict with Cole's studies, he was also very gentle, and he never blamed her as long as she worked hard.

At this moment, Sino spoke.

"I brought back some date and coconut honey. If I feel sleepy, I'll eat some candy. That way, mornings and nights will be sweet, and I won't have a 'bitter' sleep."

In an instant, everyone felt a chill pass by. Tina, with a headache, covered her head, regretting that she hadn't let go of Seno earlier.

"Sigh, Sino, your technique for telling corny jokes is really quite chilling."

Kavi shook his head helplessly. He felt sorry for Tinari, wondering how many times a day he had to endure Seno's lame jokes.

Sino tilted his head, somewhat bewildered. He had always thought his jokes were very funny.

After a moment of silence, Kolai said to Tinari, "Master, I'll head back now. There are still some details in a report that need adjusting." With a nod from Tinari, he said goodbye to the others and left.

After Cole left, the four of them took their seats one by one. Kavi gripped his glass and poured himself a drink first. Elheisen didn't stop Kavi; even if Kavi was drunk anyway, he could take him home. Kavi had indeed been drinking very little these past few days because of work, so he'd indulge him this once.

Tina looked at Kavi with a smile, took the wine jug, and poured himself a glass.

"What, Elheisen won't let you drink?"

"Of course not. I've been busy with work lately, so I've only had some free time and haven't had a chance to go to the tavern yet." Kavi took a sip of his drink, his face flushing slightly.

"By the way, Elheisen, did you find the flower you were looking for last time?" Tinari also took a sip of wine, but it was clear that his alcohol tolerance was much better than Kavi's.

Upon hearing this, Elhesen responded, "Found it, but unfortunately the seed hasn't sprouted yet."

"What kind of seed?"

Sino looked up curiously, wondering what they were talking about.

"Before you came back, Al-Hysen came to me asking about it. I only had specimens on hand, and you were busy catching people, so I suggested he go to Dolly, and it seems to have gone smoothly."

"By the way, since it hasn't sprouted after a week, is there a problem? Or is this variety special and has a longer growth cycle?"

After explaining to Seno, Tinari became curious about the seed that wouldn't sprout.

“I’m not sure, maybe we should ask Dolly,” Kavi replied.

The topic of flower seeds quickly passed, and they chatted for a long time afterward. Kavi talked about how great his recent project was, Seno showed off his newly acquired Seven Sages Summoning Cards, Tinari demonstrated a blooming handball, and even Elhesen joined in by telling some anecdotes...

Time flew by, and their party was almost over. Sure enough, Kavi had drunk too much again. Tina, on the other hand, had a pretty good tolerance for alcohol; after getting Kavi drunk, they still had the energy to help clean up.

After it was over, Tinari and Seno, who had been apart for some time, left together intimately, while Elhesen also took the dazed Kavi home.

On the way home, Kavi was very well-behaved, neither crying nor fussing, letting Alheisen hold his hand and lead him. But when they got home, Kavi suddenly went to the balcony, picked up a flowerpot, and then followed Alheisen clingily to him.

"Why won't it sprout? Does it not like me? I come to see it every day, but it doesn't want to see me at all. Waaah..."

Kavi sounded aggrieved, hugging the flowerpot tightly against Elhesen's side, talking to him incessantly, and even crying in distress. Drunk Kavi was like an unreasonable child, tears streaming down his face.

Al-Hysen wiped away Kavi's tears. Even someone as intelligent as him couldn't reason with a drunkard.

"Tomorrow I'll ask Dolly to see if we planted it wrong, or maybe we should try a different method. Anyway, it's definitely not your fault. Okay, stop crying."

"Come on, put the flowerpot down and come with me to the bathroom."

Kavi, bewildered, was led by Elhesen, put down the flowerpot, and obediently followed him. Then, he suddenly uttered a sentence.

"Haitham, does it really bloom?"

Elhesen glanced back at the drunkard's earnest eyes and answered him earnestly, "It will open, it definitely will open."
