Chapter 16 (Knowing the Secret) Elhesen is somewhat troubled (Part 2)

He didn't know when it started, but Elhesen had grown quite accustomed to Kavi's presence. He was used to his noisy, boisterous manner, and his somewhat arrogant demeanor when angry. He was used to his golden hair shimmering in the sunlight, the feathers swaying in the wind by his ears, and even the troubles Kavi brought.

Compared to other Sumeru scholars, Elhesen preferred reading physical books. From a young age, Elhesen enjoyed self-study. The word "self-study" permeated almost his entire academic career. As a member of a scholarly family, he was exposed to physical books at a very young age, and interestingly, he preferred reading the physical books in his grandmother's collection to acquiring information from the void.

After his grandmother passed away, Alheisen moved into his new home alone, bringing all his books with him and placing them in one room. Alheisen loved reading and read every day. However, sometimes when he was engrossed in his book, he would inevitably make a mess of the other books. Sometimes, while reading, he would stray from one book to another, at which point he would put down his current book and go find the one he was thinking of. As a result, Alheisen's books were practically everywhere in the house.

At first, Kavi was very uncomfortable with Alheisen's habit of storing books, and after several attempts to persuade him were met with ridicule, Kavi began to try to get used to Alheisen's arrangement. Unfortunately, in the end, Kavi couldn't stand the inappropriate books appearing where they shouldn't be. After all, Kavi considered himself part of the family, and he had perfectly decorated the house; how could he allow these books to ruin the aesthetics? It made him unable to sleep!

When Alheisen accused Kavi of having a messy room, Kavi somewhat awkwardly argued with Alheisen. While his own room was indeed a bit messy, his blueprints wouldn't be found next to the dining table, on the sofa, or even on the counter next to the bathroom. Kavi was shocked and bewildered by the way Alheisen casually placed his books and unilaterally decided to fight Alheisen's books to the bitter end.

Elhesen scoffed at this, believing Kavi wouldn't last long. But this time, it was Elhesen's turn to be surprised. Kavi actually tidied up and put his books away, and remarkably, he kept it up for a long time. Eventually, when Elhesen couldn't find the book he wanted, he would ask Kavi where he had put it. Kavi's memory was quite good; he could always clearly remember which shelf and which shelf he had placed the book on. Elhesen considered this a pleasant surprise.

El-Heisen is feeling uneasy; a few days ago, Kavi received a construction project in the desert.

So, Kavi has been away from home for five days now.

When Elhesen suddenly remembered a book, out of an unconscious habit, his first instinct was to ask Kavi where he had put it. But in that instant, he realized Kavi wasn't with him. After a moment of silence, Elhesen remembered where he had put the book. He quietly found it, picked it up, and began to read as usual. But this time, he couldn't calm himself, unable to fully immerse himself in the book. It was like a pebble thrown into a calm lake, creating ripples that spread outwards. It couldn't move the lake, yet it affected it.

Elhesen noticed that the house, which used to be somewhat noisy when Kavi was around, was now eerily quiet. This was a quietness he used to be used to, even somewhat enjoyed, when he lived there. But at this moment, he actually missed Kavi. He missed the moments when Kavi was by his side, even just his quiet presence.

During Kavi's absence, Elhesen neatly arranged the books on the bookshelf in the study. So when Kavi returned home after finishing the project, he was somewhat incredulous. He had told Elhesen so many times before, but Elhesen never listened to him. This time, he didn't know what had gotten into him, but Elhesen had managed to tidy up so neatly on his own.

Kavi sidled up to Elhesen, grinning, and asked, "What's wrong with you? Did the Void Terminal break down and affect you, or have you finally realized your mistake and repented?" Seemingly pleased, Kavi chattered incessantly around Elhesen, his wine-rose eyes sparkling with joy. Like a weary bird finding its nest, Elhesen felt a deep sense of peace.

"Your return has brought a lot of noise," Elhesen said coldly, his face expressionless, though inwardly he was somewhat pleased. "After all, I have a very peaceful life when someone isn't around." Hearing this, Kavi's eyes, which had been shining with joy, were once again filled with the flames of anger. He angrily returned home and began his first argument with Elhesen.

While expressionlessly provoking Kavi's anger, he thought to himself, "This should be normal." Elhesen no longer felt as lonely as he had a few days ago.

Upon his return, Kavi assumed Elheisen had made progress and no longer needed him to tidy up his books. However, when he found books again where they shouldn't have been, Kavi's angry voice echoed through the room. "Elheisen, are you deliberately trying to cause trouble?!" Kavi's resentment towards Elheisen was stronger than ever before. Despite his inner turmoil, Kavi still carefully tidied up the books. After all, Kavi, with his excellent aesthetic sense, couldn't tolerate books left lying around.

Thinking of the books he had deliberately left scattered around, Elhesen thought to himself that this was essentially his reward for taking in the helpless senior. Watching Kavi flit about like a diligent little bird, Elhesen felt that some annoyance was acceptable at this moment.

Kavi had smooth, medium-length blond hair. Al-Hysen had always liked Kavi's blond hair; it felt very smooth to the touch, but like Kavi, it was a bit unruly, with some parts sticking up and needing to be clipped up.

Kavi is not only extremely dedicated to his work, but he also takes his appearance and attire very seriously. Idealistic, romantic, and glamorous—these are the words that best describe Kavi, in Elhesen's opinion. However, sometimes Kavi just gets rushed and doesn't take good care of himself.

One morning, Al-Hysen, on holiday, was sitting on the sofa, refreshed and reading a book, a cup of coffee in hand. However, the peace and quiet didn't last long. A sleepy-eyed Kavi was tangling in his hair, the irritating noises disrupting the tranquility of the morning.

After a few minutes, Elhesen put down his book and walked towards Kavi. His brow furrowed slightly when he saw Kavi's tangled hair. Taking the comb from Kavi's hand, ignoring Kavi's slightly surprised expression, Elhesen gently untangled the knots. His gentle movements made Kavi feel like he was a completely different person. Then, with the deft movements Kavi always used, he braided a small plait and secured it with red clips.

After Alhesen finished fixing Kavi's hair, Kavi immediately rushed to the mirror, threatening as he went, "If you do anything bad to my hair, you're finished!" Alhesen was unmoved by Kavi's threat and went back to the sofa to continue reading his book.

Kavi walked to the mirror, looked at his hairstyle from left to right, and thought it looked pretty good. Not much worse than his usual style. "Looks like you do have some skill, not bad, not bad," Kavi said to Elhesen with some delight.

Elheisen looked at Kavi, seemingly quite satisfied with his skills, and said to Kavi without reservation, "It's very simple. If you can get up earlier every day, I can help you comb your hair." Kavi was a little shocked to hear Elheisen's words, and then replied, "You said it, don't go back on your word!" After saying that, he ran away.

After glancing at Kavi as he walked away, Elhesen continued to enjoy his leisurely vacation with his head down.

After that, Elhesen would often comb Kavi's hair, and Kavi got used to going to Elhesen after getting ready in the morning. Sometimes, when Kavi couldn't wake up in the morning, he would lie on Elhesen's lap and take a nap, and Elhesen indulged Kavi's laziness.

Days passed by, and before they knew it, their lives had become intertwined. Alheisen would sometimes look forward to Kavi arriving home before him, and Kavi would sometimes find Alheisen to pick him up before he got drunk. When tired, they would fall asleep in each other's arms on the sofa; when happy, they would embrace in a corner; when angry, they would bicker endlessly…

Al-Hysen thought that although his senior might make the sound of modeling at night, come back drunk from the bar, or send bill after bill... his senior was full of energy, brimming with the unrestrained and spiritedness unique to young men, which was exactly the kind of person he liked.

El-Hysen was somewhat troubled, but also quite satisfied with his current life.
