Chapter 13 (Knowing the Subtle) Spring Slumber

Springtime is warm and gentle, and people often feel sleepy. The first rays of sunlight in the morning are always so unrestrained, shining loudly on people's faces through the dimly lit curtains, forcing even the most drowsy people to wake up.

Unlike usual, it was Kavi who woke up first this morning.

Before he even opened his eyes, Kavi felt himself being held tightly in a hug, strong arms encircling his back, as if the person unconsciously wanted to pull him into their embrace. The relaxed chest muscles felt soft in his sleep, and it felt quite nice to snuggle up next to him. Kavi rubbed his face against the chest, thinking to himself.

Since he had woken up before him, and not wanting to wake Elhesen, Kavi gently adjusted his position, then raised his head to carefully observe Elhesen's sleeping appearance.

Looking at Elheisen's closed eyes, Kavi felt a sense of novelty. His usually aloof face appeared unexpectedly docile at this moment. Perhaps he was sleeping soundly, as his brows and eyes were unconsciously relaxed, revealing a hint of youthful exuberance. Even his mouth, which usually loved to tease him, was tightly closed, showing no trace of the power he would unleash when mocking others.

"His eyelashes are very long," was Kavi's first observation. "If only he could usually behave like this; he shows no respect for his senior at all." Thinking this, his hands unconsciously traced Elhesen's face. His fingers moved like a gentle breeze, without any force, gliding lightly from his forehead to his chin. When he reached the bridge of his nose, he playfully compared the height with his fingertips.

Annoyed by a slight itch on his face, Elhesen felt a stirring but didn't wake up. Their days and nights together had made them intimately familiar with each other's scent. Kavi could sleep peacefully beside Elhesen, and in return, Elhesen could trust Kavi.

As if recalling the chest that had nestled against him when he first woke up, Kavi, unable to stay still, reached out and placed his palm on it again. Through Elhesen's well-developed pectoral muscles, Kavi could feel his heart pounding. Thump, thump... the steady heartbeat conveyed a sense of security to Kavi. No matter what, Elhesen was always someone he could lean on. He slid down, resting his face against the chest again. Warm, so comfortable. Kavi thought, his eyes wanting to close again, intending to take another nap.

A hand suddenly covered Kavi's head, ruffling the golden hair in its palm. Elheisen was finally awakened by the restless Kavi.

"Why did you wake up so early? Did you start bothering me as soon as you woke up?" A slightly hoarse voice came from above. Kavi didn't look up, leaning against Elhesen's chest, feeling embarrassed for waking him up. "Okay, it's my fault, I woke you up." Kavi rubbed his cheek against Elhesen's chest, answering him in a muffled voice.

"It's okay, it's time to get up anyway." Elhesen hugged Kavi to comfort him, and then tried to sit up. But Kavi stopped him.

"Can you sleep with me a little longer?" Kavi looked at Elhesen with his warm, red eyes, clinging to his arm in a spoiled manner, unwilling to let him leave. Kavi would never normally act spoiled towards Elhesen, but he knew that Elhesen would never refuse him in this way.

Sure enough, following Kavi's pull, Elhesen lay down again, holding Kavi in his arms. One hand supported his head, while the other wrapped around Kavi's back. Kavi also rested his head in the crook of Elhesen's neck, his hands pressed against his chest. Feeling Elhesen's scent surrounding him, Kavi closed his eyes, feeling extremely at ease.

They didn't know how much time had passed before they both fell asleep again. The spring day was warm and beautiful, and they slept peacefully.
