Chapter 11 (Xiao Kong) Xiao Bird Care Manual 1

01

Kong currently has a pet bird. To be specific, it was a very strange coincidence; he found it on the road.

As the evening sun cast its last rays, Sora walked along the park path. Suddenly, he heard the sound of branches swaying, but there was no wind. Curious, Sora mustered his courage and peered into the grass.

A small, turquoise bird was lying in the grass, its feathers disheveled, with specks of blood at the edges.

Kong hurriedly stepped forward, "Where did this little bird come from? Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, I'll take you to see a doctor." As he spoke, he walked forward and reached out to pick it up.

The little blue bird shrank back, seeing the outstretched hand, and wanted to stretch its neck and bite hard. But it hesitated when it heard Sora's words. Perhaps it was because Sora's words were gentle, or perhaps it was because the setting sun made Sora seem exceptionally trustworthy. In any case, Xiao, as if bewitched, indulged Sora in picking him up.

"This is a monk parakeet. Don't worry, it just has a small scratch on its wing, probably from a branch or being pounced on by a cat," the doctor told Sora after examining it and gave it some medicine.

In a daze, Sora took Xiao home. It wasn't until they got home that Sora came to their senses. "I'm going to raise a little bird. It'll be mine from now on!" Sora thought to himself.

“Some monk birds are not very gentle and can hold grudges, and they can even hurt people.” At this point, she reassured Kong, “But don’t worry too much. If you take good care of them, they will be very affectionate. Besides, they have green wings and are quite beautiful.”

Thinking of the doctor's instructions, Kong smiled bitterly. Since he had already brought it home, he should take responsibility for it no matter what.

"I'm going to give you a name. I can't keep calling you 'Little Bird,' can I?" Kong said with a grin, looking at the turquoise bird. What should he call it? Kong pondered. "How about 'Little Green'? What do you think?" Kong looked at the bird, anticipating its reaction. Unfortunately, the bird completely ignored him. Kong thought of several names, but the bird wouldn't respond. In desperation, Kong had no choice but to postpone naming it.

A few days later, the relationship between the man and the bird grew stronger. One evening, when Kong returned home and saw the little bird seemingly waiting for him at the door, he felt a surge of warmth in his heart.

After spending a few days together, Xiao gradually became enamored with Sora's thoughtfulness and gentleness, and no longer thought about sneaking away. You see, Xiao had initially planned to secretly run away at night. Unfortunately, Sora kept the windows and doors tightly closed, and would carefully check everything after leaving. Xiao never found a single opportunity.

Xiao now deeply loves Sora. She loves his golden eyes, the faint fragrance of his hair, the warmth of his fingers as he touches her, and most of all, his gentle smile. Xiao wants to stay by Sora's side, to be with him forever.

Xiao decided to let Sora know his name; he wanted Sora to call him by his name.

After entering the room, Xiao led Sora to the desk. A dictionary lay flat on the desk. Xiao stood next to a character in the dictionary, hopping around it. Sora walked over and saw the unusually lively little bird hopping around the character.

"魈." Kong read the word aloud.

"Do you like this word?" Kong asked Xiao gently, her eyes showing a hint of indulgence.

Looking at Sora's beautiful face, Xiao seemed to be intoxicated by her tenderness. So he tilted his head and moved closer to Sora's fingers, letting her stroke his wings.

"It seems you really like this name. How about we call you Xiao?" Sora said, calling out Xiao's name. Xiao happily snuggled up to Sora upon hearing this.

I've been raising Xiao for about a month now.

During this time, Sora would see Xiao waiting for him at the door every day when he came home. Every time, Sora would happily pat Xiao's little head. Xiao would patiently let Sora pet him.

When Sora saw Xiao trying to push open the window with its claws, she knew that Xiao was not a small animal that could be easily kept at home, but since Xiao was a parrot, Sora could not feel at ease letting it out.

But when she saw the window with a crack showing after the latch was pushed open, Sora's heart skipped a beat. After searching the entire house without finding Xiao, Sora's heart sank to the bottom.

"Chirp!" Hearing this sound, Sora turned her head sharply and saw Xiao standing on the window. As if blown by the wind, or as if she had rushed back in a hurry, the feathers on her wings were slightly ruffled.

Hearing Xiao's voice, Sora finally calmed down, his heart pounding in his chest. He then rushed forward and hugged Xiao tightly. Xiao reciprocated Sora's embrace, and as if to comfort him, he slightly raised his wing and touched Sora with the tip of his wing.

From then on, Sora would leave a small gap in the window for Xiao to get in and out. Luckily, Sora lived on a relatively high floor, otherwise he wouldn't dare to open the window when no one was home.
