Transmigrating to the Song Dynasty: Water Margin Business Management
Chapter 24: Li Kui is thrown into jail
With his head bandaged and carrying several boxes of fruit, Wang Zhiqiang limped to Li Kui's residence. Before even entering, he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Brother Li, I'm here!"
Li Kui was sitting in a large chair in the room, with a half-eaten pork knuckle on the table in front of him. Hearing the sound, he looked up and saw Wang Zhiqiang's head wrapped in bandages. He burst into laughter, "Hahahaha, with all that cloth wrapped around your head, you look like a mummy that's just been unearthed!"
Wang Zhiqiang rolled his eyes at Li Kui and stammered, "Brother Li... please don't make fun of me. We've become friends through this fight."
Li Kui slammed the pork knuckle on the table, grabbed a dirty cloth from the side and wiped his mouth, then pointed at Wang Zhiqiang and said, "Hmph, you still have the nerve to show your face here? Don't think you can get away with bringing a few worthless fruits. Speak your mind, or shut up!"
Wang Zhiqiang quickly placed the fruit box on the table and approached with a fawning expression, "Brother Li, look, these are fruits I carefully selected, specially brought to offer you. It was all a misunderstanding before. I was blind and didn't recognize your greatness. Please forgive me, you are a magnanimous person."
Li Kui glanced sideways at the fruit boxes and scoffed, "Is that all? Do you think I, Li Kui, am some country bumpkin?"
Wang Zhiqiang quickly explained, "Brother Li, I'm just short on money, I really can't come up with anything better. Please forgive me this time, since I've come to apologize sincerely."
Li Kui stood up, circled Wang Zhiqiang twice, and kept clicking his tongue, "Look at the miserable state you are in, your head is wrapped up like a dumpling, anyone who doesn't know better would think you went to bang your head against a wall!"
Wang Zhiqiang said with a bitter face, "Brother Li, please stop teasing me. I'm in pain all over and feeling terrible."
Li Kui waved his hand and said, "It hurts? You asked for it! Who told you to be so arrogant and act so wildly in front of me?"
Wang Zhiqiang nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, it's all my fault. Brother Li, your kung fu is superb. How could I be your match? I deserved to be beaten up by you."
Li Kui sat back down in his chair, crossed his legs, and said, shaking his foot, "You're not so bad, you do have some self-awareness. So, what do you want?"
Wang Zhiqiang put the fruit box on the table, stepped aside, and said to Li Kui with a grin, "Brother Li, I'm powerless to help develop this land in the west of the city. I'll just transfer this agreement to Manager Zhao."
Li Kui snorted coldly: "Who knows what's written on this piece of paper? What if you're trying to fool me?"
Wang Zhiqiang quickly said, "Brother Li, how could I dare to lie to you! I swear to God, if I'm lying, may I be struck by lightning."
Li Kui finished gnawing on the pork knuckle, casually tossed the bone aside, wiped his mouth, and said, "Let's go!"
Wang Zhiqiang was taken aback: "Brother Li, you're leaving already?"
Li Kui glared at him: "Stop talking nonsense! Aren't we going to find a fortune teller? Hurry up!"
Wang Zhiqiang quickly nodded and bowed, "Yes, yes, Brother Li, please go first."
The two went out, and Wang Zhiqiang followed Li Kui cautiously the whole way, occasionally stealing glances at Li Kui's expression.
Li Kui strode along, muttering to himself, "You better not try anything funny, or you'll be sorry."
Wang Zhiqiang quickly replied, "Brother Li, don't worry, I wouldn't dare even if you gave me ten lives."
A short while later, they arrived at the first fortune-telling shop. The owner greeted them warmly as they entered.
Li Kui slammed the agreement on the table: "Let me see what's written on this!"
The boss picked up the agreement, looked at it carefully, and was about to speak when Wang Zhiqiang quietly gave him a wink. The boss understood and began to make things up.
After listening for a few moments, Li Kui sensed something was amiss and kicked over the table, yelling, "What nonsense! Let's go to the next place!"
Wang Zhiqiang inwardly groaned, and followed Li Kui to another fortune-telling shop. This time, the owner was honest and explained the contents of the agreement in detail.
After listening, Li Kui glanced at Wang Zhiqiang and said, "You're not so bad after all. Fine, that's settled then."
Wang Zhiqiang finally breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that he had finally served this big shot well.
Seeing that Li Kui was very satisfied with the contents of the agreement, Wang Zhiqiang said, "Brother Li, since you agree with the fortune teller's words, let's sign this agreement quickly, shall we?"
Li Kui let out a loud fart, sat on the stool, and said unhurriedly, "No rush, no rush, let's look at the next one."
Wang Zhiqiang inwardly groaned, but dared not disobey, so he had no choice but to follow Li Kui to several more places. After visiting seven or eight places in total, and confirming that they all agreed, Li Kui finally said, "Signing an agreement isn't difficult; now let's get the people from the yamen here."
Upon hearing this, Wang Zhiqiang almost jumped up: "Brother Li, why bother finding someone from the government office? It's too much trouble!"
Li Kui glared at him: "What do you know! Such a big matter needs an official witness to prevent any trouble from arising later."
Wang Zhiqiang had no choice but to nod and reply, "Yes, yes, Brother Li has thought this through very well. I'll go and ask the people from the yamen right away."
After saying that, Wang Zhiqiang hurriedly ran out. But it wasn't so easy to invite the people in the yamen. Wang Zhiqiang went to great lengths, offering gifts and saying nice things, before he finally managed to get the yamen runners to come over.
When Wang Zhiqiang returned with the officials, Li Kui was asleep in a chair, snoring loudly. Wang Zhiqiang carefully woke Li Kui: "Brother Li, the officials are here."
Li Kui rubbed his eyes and stretched: "You're here, so what's the rush?"
Then he slowly got up, looked at the constables of the yamen, and said, "Oh, thank you all for your hard work."
The yamen runner said, "Master Li, you've really gone through a lot of trouble handling this matter."
Li Kui laughed heartily: "There's no other way, better safe than sorry."
Next, everyone began preparing to sign the agreement. But Li Kui made all sorts of demands, complaining that the pen was faulty and that the handwriting was bad, leaving Wang Zhiqiang extremely frustrated.
Finally, Li Kui signed the agreement, and Wang Zhiqiang breathed a sigh of relief, feeling as if he had just gone through a long nightmare.
After Li Kui finally signed the document, Wang Zhiqiang looked at the agreement and said to Li Kui, "Li, you've planned everything, but in the end, you've only managed to ruin yourself."
Li Kui was taken aback, his eyes widening as he asked, "What's going on?"
Wang Zhiqiang pointed to the fortune tellers around him and said smugly, "I paid a lot of money to hire these people, just in case you try to cover your tracks. This isn't an agreement, it's your confession when you beat me. Now that you've signed and affixed your fingerprint to it, it has legal effect. I'm going to the government office to sue you!"
Li Kui then realized that he had fallen into Wang Zhiqiang's trap, and was immediately enraged: "You despicable villain, how dare you scheme against me!"
Wang Zhiqiang sneered, "Hmph, who told you to be so unreasonable and domineering, always resorting to violence? Today, I'll teach you a lesson you won't forget!"
After he finished speaking, he showed the witnesses the documents to confirm that they were correct. Without saying a word, the constables took the shackles and headed towards Li Kui.
Li Kui struggled fiercely, trying to resist: "Let's see who dares to lock me up!"
But the constables were quick and swift, and soon subdued Li Kui, putting the shackles firmly around his neck.
"Take them away!" the head constable ordered.
As Li Kui was dragged away, he continued to curse, "Wang Zhiqiang, you treacherous and cunning bastard, I won't let you get away with this!"
Watching Li Kui being led away, Wang Zhiqiang felt a surge of satisfaction: "You've finally got what you deserve! This is your retribution!"
The surrounding people, seeing this, also began to discuss it amongst themselves.
"Li Kui is used to being arrogant and domineering, but finally someone has managed to control him."
"Wang Zhiqiang's move was really clever; it gave Li Kui a huge loss."
Amidst the murmurs of the crowd, Wang Zhiqiang walked away with his head held high, leaving only Li Kui's curses echoing in the air.
The news of Li Kui being arrested and imprisoned quickly reached Zhao Tianming. Wu Yong hurriedly told Zhao Tianming, "Manager Zhao, Li Kui has been arrested. With him arrested, the company's entire security work will be paralyzed."
Zhao Tianming sipped his tea leisurely and said, "Why are you panicking? It might not be a bad thing that Li Kui has been arrested."
Wu Yong was taken aback and asked, "Why?"
Zhao Tianming put down his teacup and said slowly, "Li Kui is too arrogant. I've already advised him not to provoke Wang Zhiqiang, but he just wouldn't listen. Now he's ended up like this, which is a lesson for him. Besides, although he has some ability in security work, he acts recklessly, often offends people, and has brought a lot of trouble to the company."
Wu Yong frowned and said, "But we can't find a suitable replacement for him in the short term."
Zhao Tianming smiled slightly: "What's so difficult about that? We can take this opportunity to reorganize the security department and select some more stable and capable people to take over."
Wu Yong said worriedly, "But this will take time, and the company's security cannot be compromised during this period."
Zhao Tianming stood up, walked to the window, looked out and said, "In the next few days, we'll increase patrols and draw some people from other departments to come in for emergencies. At the same time, we'll expedite the selection of a new security leader."
Wu Yong nodded: "That's all we can do. Hopefully, we can resolve this issue as soon as possible."
Zhao Tianming turned around and looked at Wu Yong, saying, "Don't worry too much, things will always be resolved. As for Wang Zhiqiang, go and find out what he's up to and what he's really planning."
Wu Yong replied, "Okay, Manager Zhao, I'll take care of it right away."
After saying this, Wu Yong hurriedly left. Zhao Tianming sat back down in his chair and fell into deep thought.
