"Looks like we'll have to wait an hour or so," Wu Xie muttered, puffing on his cigarette.

"Hey, blind man, even if you give Lingzi that thing, it won't work. Before I gave him that thing, at least he could still open his eyes. Look at him now, he won't open his eyes, he won't move, he's automatically shut down." Fatty grumbled at Black Bear.

Hei Xiazi paused for a moment, then walked towards Jieyuhua, squatted down next to Ling Xiao, placed two fingers on his carotid artery, and then pried open his eyelids to look at his pupils. Hearing this, he chuckled and revealed two rows of white teeth: "What's the rush? The effects of medicine have to go through a process. This isn't like drinking talisman water, where you can see a god in an instant."

"How about we have some water?" Black Bear wondered.

Jieyuhua handed over the water bottle, which Heixiazi took and carefully fed Lingxiao two sips. It had no effect; the water simply flowed out of his mouth, turning the precious water source into mouthwash.

"If all else fails, try traditional Chinese medicine!" Hei Xiazi said seriously.

"You also know traditional Chinese medicine?" Xie Yuhua felt that things were becoming increasingly unreliable.

"It should be possible," Hei Xiazi shook his head.

The fat man was so angry that his teeth itched: "Go to hell with you, if you can do it, you can do it, you can do it. You shake your head and say you can do it."

"I'm not really good at it, but this method was told to me by the young master. Why don't we give it a try?" Black Bear stroked his chin thoughtfully.

Before Jieyuhua could make any judgment, Aning, who had been watching the cave entrance sealed by the pottery urn, spoke up: "The movements down below seem to have completely stopped."

The group was immediately drawn to the sound and listened intently. Sure enough, the subtle, unsettling friction sounds from before had completely disappeared, leaving only a deathly silence.

"Did the pesticide really work?" The fat man was a little surprised, but also a little incredulous. "What brand of insecticide is this that's so powerful?"

"It might not be a good thing." Xie Yuhua frowned slightly, her tone wary. "This sudden quiet is a bit unusual."

Wu Xie stubbed out his cigarette and stood up: "What's meant to be will be. We can't just sit here waiting. This jar... we have to open it and take a look."

That's what they said, but no one dared to make a move. The terrifying scene of the white wave was still vivid in their minds. Only Aning glanced at Ling Xiao, who was still in Jieyuhua's arms, and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Black Bear screwed the kettle cap back on and tucked it into his waistband. He patted Ling Xiao on the shoulder and stood up, stretching his wrists. "Let's get to work. Fatty, give me a hand. Flower Master, could you please prepare some more insecticide later, just in case?"

Jieyuhua nodded and took out the can of insecticide again.

The chubby guy and Black Bear, along with two mercenaries, cautiously approached the earthenware urn covering the cave entrance. Wu Xie and Xie Yuhua stood slightly behind, one gripping an entrenching tool, the other with someone strapped to her back and holding insecticide. A Ning provided support from the side with a gun.

"one two Three!"

Several people exerted their strength at the same time, grunted, and suddenly lifted the heavy pottery urn from the hole, quickly jumping back a step.

Everyone's hearts were in their throats, anticipating the possible outpouring of white threads.

However, there was nothing.

The cave entrance was pitch black, and nothing escaped. Even the wisps of white steam from before had vanished. Only a stronger, more pungent odor, a mixture of insecticide fragrance and some kind of burnt protein, wafted out—it was unpleasant.

Several beams of light shot into the cave at the same time.

The space below, once covered in white silk threads, was now completely bare, as if treated with some kind of potent hair removal cream. The wriggling, proliferating silk had vanished, leaving only puddles of a thick, grayish-white, gelatinous substance on the bottom and walls, emitting a foul odor. A few large spider carcasses lay scattered in the substance, their legs curled up, motionless.

The entire space was deathly silent, as if the previous frenzied attack had been nothing but an illusion.

"This...this is completely dissolved, isn't it?" the fat man exclaimed in astonishment. "Good heavens, is this insecticide from the Aqua regia brand?"

Wu Xie carefully used an entrenching tool to scrape up some of the residue from the hole. It was stringy and sticky, and had indeed lost its activity. "Looks like it worked, and the effect... is too strong."

Jieyuhua, however, did not relax. The beam of light carefully swept over every corner of the pit. Suddenly, his gaze sharpened: "It seems that something has been exposed down there."

Following his beam of light, everyone saw that in the center of the pit, a large patch of solidified gelatinous substance had been pushed aside, revealing a corner of a dark, seemingly stone-like object with something engraved on it.

"It was completely covered by those spider webs, so I didn't see it," Ah Ning said. "Looks like this insecticide worked out by accident and even helped us clear the area."

The crisis seemed to have been averted, and an unexpected discovery was made.

But Hei Xiazi looked at the exposed corner of the stone, and sniffed the strange, burnt smell in the air. His eyes behind his sunglasses narrowed slightly, and a faint smile curved his lips. He whispered in a voice only he could hear:

"...Interesting. It seems the 'main character' down there was woken up by the commotion..."
