HP: The Root of Everything - The Magician
Chapter 32 Holding the Reins of the Scales
Teach offered an explanation in Corey Bab's warning, but Corey simply didn't believe him. He was a seasoned mercenary with impeccable eyesight.
Didn't you see the pink look in Hermione's eyes when she peeked at Teach just now?
In the taxi, Teach Carr gave up on explaining and introduced Hermione to this cheap uncle.
Then, just before arriving at the hospital, Teach got out of the car. Without explaining, Corey understood Teach's predicament and didn't ask anything.
In Hermione's eyes, Teach planted a leaf by the roadside, then used a transmutation array to transform the leaf into a bunch of carnations, saying, "Hermione, please, be careful."
Having learned about the Aurors, Hermione understood what Teach meant by "be careful": "Don't worry, Teacher, I'm a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Even if those Aurors capture me, they can't do anything to me."
"Furthermore, they also need to consider the consequences of continuing to arrest me."
“Although I am a witch, I am also a British citizen and protected by law. If I go missing, my parents will definitely report it to the police. If you, teacher, make a big fuss about my disappearance, then the magical world will definitely be in danger of being exposed.”
"I think the Aurors shouldn't be fools."
Hermione's analysis of the pros and cons pleased Teach, so he entrusted her with the task of visiting Maggie.
But he still instructed Corey Bab, "Uncle, if things go wrong, you must protect Hermione's safety."
“I’ve taken care of Nicole, who hurt Machi. At this point, I don’t think the Ministry of Magic will send any more arrogant and stupid people to arrest me and implicate you unrelated people.”
Upon hearing the instructions, Corey Bab smiled and assured him, "Don't worry, even if I perish, I won't let my niece-in-law suffer even the slightest harm."
After finishing his story, Corey drove to the hospital in the distance.
After the outsiders left, Teach Carr said to the empty space beside him, "Who are you? Come out."
After the visitor lifted the 'Illusion Curse', Teach discovered that this person was actually the lawyer who handled the transfer of assets during the inheritance of the Carl family estate.
The lawyer appeared and exclaimed in surprise to Teach, "I never imagined that in just over a year, you would grow from an ordinary person to this level. Is this the magic of magic?"
Seeing that Teach had already started touching a gun, the lawyer stopped his small talk and said, "Hello Teach Carl, let me introduce myself again, my name is Vikman Karen."
"I am a wizard who learned from various masters. After completing my apprenticeship, I worked in the Anti-Witch Agency in England."
After listening to Vikman's self-introduction, Teach asked warily, "So? You've reappeared in front of me not to catch up, are you?"
"State your purpose, or I suggest you get a bullet in your face."
"Since you are paying attention to me, you should know that I have hunted down quite a few wizards."
Despite Teach's menacing warning, Vikman raised his hands to indicate he posed no threat: "I'm here to express our goodwill towards the 'Magic Agency'."
"If the Ministry of Magic knows about magic, then we know the same about the Magic Agency, even if the Karl family has kept the secrets of magic hidden for hundreds of years."
"The reason we didn't have the government seize your Karl family's magical heritage back then was because we felt that while magic was amazing, it was impossible to perform."
"But now it seems we were wrong. Magic isn't impossible; it's just that our knowledge was too shallow to believe it was impossible."
"I never would have guessed! The magic of magic has come true in your hands!"
"Now... on behalf of the British government, I solemnly ask you, magic trick—have you finished it?"
"Or rather, to what stage have you progressed in your magic trick?"
After hearing Vikman Karen's story, Teach was instantly shocked. He never imagined that Vikman Karen was a pawn in the British government's fight against magic.
But after his initial anger subsided, Teach calmed down.
He instantly understood that although he was a pawn, it didn't mean he was in a passive position.
Because he is caught between the British government and the magical world, the balance between the two worlds is entirely in Teach Carl's hands.
If Teach wanted to, the two worlds would know each other, and then war would break out.
Once Teach understood what the reins were in his hand, he calmed down and looked at Vikman Karen, who was waiting for a reply, and asked, "How many Aurors has the Ministry of Magic sent to hunt me down or capture me?"
Teach Carl's sudden change of the tables caused Vikman to frown deeply.
Teach's confident demeanor made Vikman a little uneasy, so he patiently replied, "A five-man Auror squad is looking for you."
"What is their strength level?"
"Not that strong. I think you can easily handle someone like Nicole."
"Where are they searching now?"
When questioned, Vikman took out a piece of paper, wrote down an address with a pen, and tossed it to Teach. Then, somewhat impatiently, he asked, "You've asked so many questions, shouldn't you answer mine now?"
Teach didn't speak. Instead, he wrote down the address on the paper, drew a practice circle on the spot, and tossed it to Vikman, saying, "I have no obligation to tell you where the magic has progressed."
"Take this magic trick and complete the formation back with you."
"This is my way of showing goodwill to the British government, after all, you haven't given me any help."
Yes, the Anti-Magic Agency did not offer Teach Carl any help.
Even sending someone to guard Machi's hospital to prevent the Aurors from harming her again would be useless.
So, on what grounds do they demand the magic information that Teach has painstakingly researched?
Under Vikman's unfriendly gaze, Teach Carl sneered, "Mr. Vikman, I don't know if it's the Anti-Magic Agency that's misunderstanding the situation, or if it's you who's misunderstanding the situation."
As he spoke, Teach spread his hands, illustrating, "Right now, my left hand represents the real world, and my right hand... represents the magical world."
And I stand in the middle.
"Do you understand what I mean, Mr. Vikman Karen...?"
"Don't think that just because you rely on the British government, you can bully me and demand magic from me in a domineering way."
"The stability of Britain is now in my hands, and I warn you not to do anything foolish to me."
The foolish thing Teach Carr was referring to was, of course, not to lay a hand on the people around him.
After delivering the warning, Teach turned and used Flash magic, disappearing from the sight of the furious Vikman Karen.
Vikman, meanwhile, Apparated away with a wave of his wand, intending to return and relay Teach Carl's words to the government exactly as they were told.
......
In the hospital, Hermione, holding carnations, was led by Corey Bab to meet her teacher's mother in the ward.
