HP: The Root of Everything - The Magician
Chapter 25 The Shadow of the Basilisk
Regarding Harry Potter, Teach Carr only offered comments and a few minor suggestions on the transmutation circles in the notebook, without providing any knowledge of equivalent value; in other words, he would not teach Harry magic.
However, it was explained that if one wanted to learn about magic, one could go to Hermione Granger.
"Mr. Potter, you have a great talent for magic. You should study magic instead of wasting your energy on tricks."
"After all, you survived a great calamity, and you have an unbreakable connection with that Voldemort."
Teach refused for one reason: Albus Dumbledore had been keeping a close eye on Harry Potter and saw him as a trump card to completely eliminate Voldemort.
Secondly, if Harry Potter loses interest in magic after learning it from him, then Teach will have a harder time obtaining the benefits of being the Savior during a crisis.
Thirdly...
For various reasons, as long as Harry Potter's fate with Voldemort is not over, Teach Carr has no intention of teaching Harry magic, no matter how interested Harry is in magic.
After understanding Teach's refusal, Harry Potter left somewhat dejectedly with his notebook.
Without any disturbances, Teach Carr was finally able to eat his dinner in peace.
......
After dinner, night fell.
Astronomy class only comes once a week, so Teach, as agreed, asked a Slytherin student before arriving at Snape's office.
The door seemed to have an automatic sensor, opening itself as soon as Teach arrived.
Upon entering, Teach was first drawn to the rows of potion books in the office, and then to Snape, who was brewing a potion.
Golden mist lingered above the crucible, slowly swirling in the direction of the potion in Snape's mixing bowl.
Upon seeing this, Teach understood that Snape must be brewing some precious potion, so he didn't disturb him. He simply found a place to sit down, picked up a book from the shelf, and began to read it with great interest.
One person brews the medicine, while the other reads a book.
After about two hourglasses had passed, Snape, who hadn't stopped for a moment, finally finished brewing the potion. He poured the transparent potion with a hint of gold into a small glass bottle, called out to Teach who was reading, and then tossed the potion into the bottle.
Seeing that Teach had caught it steadily, Snape said, "Felix Felicis, a very precious potion that increases luck. Just one drop can temporarily grant someone unexpected good fortune."
"This is the price I paid for the potion extraction and alchemy array you drew in my class."
Teach stared intently at the pale golden potion in his hand, somewhat lost in thought: "So this is Felix Felicis...?"
[Is this the potion that Nicol drank in the Dark Forest? It's this potion that allowed Nicol to evade my explosives and bullets several times.]
After carefully storing the Felix Felicis, Teach kept his promise and went to his desk to draw a transmutation circle. He gestured for Snape to come over so he could explain it in detail: "First of all, let me explain that each transmutation circle in my magic has a specific function. You can't master all transmutation circles just by learning one."
"So you understand what I mean, Professor Snape?"
Snape, without a smile, said, "Of course I know the importance of knowledge, which is why I told you in the classroom that I would trade a price for this array that can extract potion ingredients from you."
Seeing that Snape understood the principle of equivalent exchange very well, Teach then began to explain the transmutation circle drawn on his desk.
First, you need to draw the patterns of the potion ingredients in the array, the more detailed the better, and the more you understand them in your mind, the better, so that you can extract all the essence from the ingredients.
Then, in the refining array, the raw materials are placed in designated positions within the array. The quality of the extracted medicinal liquid will vary depending on the position.
Finally, there's the textual description of the magic array plate within the training array.
Regarding magical writing, Teach will only teach Snape the writing needed for the single spell array; he won't teach him anything more.
Initially, Teach Carr didn't know the writing on the magic circle disk, let alone what language it was. However, through his research and study, he has completely mastered the writing system and can draw different types of alchemy circles by depicting and arranging the characters.
With Teach's detailed explanation, Snape gradually understood the theory of this material extraction transmutation array, and then he began to put it into practice.
With Teach's instruction, Snape mastered the transmutation circle in just half a night. With this magic circle, Snape would no longer need a cauldron to concoct potions, but could concoct them directly like Teach.
So, Snape's task in the time ahead was quite enormous...
He wanted to rewrite his decades of knowledge in potions, incorporate transmutation arrays, and then compile a completely new system of potions transmutation that belonged to him.
With things to do, Snape stopped paying attention to Teach Carl, letting Teach wander around his office or leave.
Teach looked at the walls of books in the office and really wanted to browse through them or take them with him, but he wouldn't do that because Snape was a man who adhered to his principle of 'equivalent exchange,' so he himself wouldn't break that principle.
Just as his mother, Ma Qi, once said, "No matter what kind of business you're in, you must be honest."
So Teach suppressed his greed for the potions books and left Slytherin's basement without disturbing Snape's work.
Has anyone ever visited Hogwarts at 1 or 2 AM?
Tichy Carr wants to say that he's browsing right now.
The ancient castle had no electricity or lights, only torches hanging high on the walls, which were powered by magic and never went out.
At this late hour, the entire Hogwarts Castle was eerily quiet. Even Fulch, who enjoyed capturing young wizards, was sleeping in his dormitory with his wife and cat.
The magical portrait that used to move on the wall has also fallen asleep.
Teach's footsteps as she walked down the corridor were clearly audible, but upon closer listening, one could hear a barely perceptible friction sound mixed in with them.
The sound was exactly like the crawling of a giant python in the swamp of the Forbidden Forest.
The sound made Teach Carl stop immediately, then he moved stealthily and pressed himself against the wall, reducing the area of his body that would be attacked from 360° to 180°.
Finally, he reached his hands to his waist, gripping the Beretta pistol he carried close to his body.
It's a snake! A basilisk monster has emerged from the secret chamber to hunt...
[But it's strange, the second year has only been going on for a few days, how come Ginny Weasley opened the door to the Chamber of Secrets so quickly?]
Once Teach was absolutely certain that the crawling sound was from the basilisk, he dared not look around and could only keep his eyes down at the ground.
Teach happened to be in a corridor, where the bright moonlight shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows, giving him the opportunity to use his shadow to determine if the basilisk was approaching.
As Teach Carl remained vigilant, a huge, long snake shadow appeared in the moonlit corridor.
Teach didn't look, he didn't dare to look, and immediately pulled out his two guns and fired.
During the shooting, he also used the Blink spell to dodge the snake monster's possible attacks.
