HP: The Root of Everything - The Magician
Chapter 127 The White Wizard in Gray Robes
Teach Carr's repeated revelations and speculations about the facts earned high praise from Dumbledore, the person directly involved.
Dumbledore squinted at Teach, clapping his hands in admiration and saying, "Whew~~~"
“Professor Carl, every time I speak with you, you make inferences and interpretations of the truth, leaving me nowhere to hide.”
"It is a great blessing from Merlin that Miss Hermione Granger is able to become your apprentice."
Dumbledore's sincere praise and admiration did not bring Teach a good mood; on the contrary, it made Teach very unhappy.
All that could be heard was the rustling of the crimson protective suit on Teach's shoulders in the evening breeze.
Teach flew to Dumbledore's side, drew close, and then, a fierce glint appeared in his one gold and one black eye. He then said in an icy tone, "Headmaster Dumbledore, it seems you haven't fully grasped the true meaning of 'Magic is Materialistic'."
"Magic is materialistic. On the path of studying magic, every step must be taken with a firm footstep. Every step forward is like leaving a solid footprint on an unknown road overgrown with weeds."
"Hermione is my adopted disciple, my proud disciple."
"Hermione became my apprentice, Teach Carr, through her talent, ability, intelligence, and tireless efforts."
"How can you say that Hermione received the so-called blessing of Merlin to become my magic apprentice?"
"Do you know that by saying this, you are negating Hermione's efforts on the path of magic, and even more so, you are negating my gratifying decision to take Hermione as my disciple?"
Dumbledore both understood and didn't understand what Teach was saying.
He was a wizard, born a pure-blood wizard. Wizards' magic could grant wishes in many things, and Dumbledore could use magic to solve many difficulties.
Just like the simplest example, you don't need to wash your clothes; just recite the magic spell to make them sparkling clean.
No need to cook, the house-elves will bring the dishes to the table.
If there's not enough food, there's a replication magic, so you'll never have to worry about going hungry, and you can raise as many children as you want.
Wizards wouldn't do these things, so Dumbledore understood, yet didn't quite grasp, Teach's idea of taking things one step at a time, step by step.
The murderous glint in Teach's one gold and one black eyes hadn't dissipated, and before he could finish speaking, he continued, "Dumbledore, I admit your thinking is correct. At this stage, it is indeed safer for Griffin to stay at Hogwarts."
"Because your power is recognized throughout the magical world, no one will provoke you without good reason."
"But you want to spread the news and put my disciple and Griffin in danger. Did you ask me, Teach Carr, before doing so?"
"Did you ask Hermione if you wanted to keep Griffin at Hogwarts?"
"As Hermione's teacher, did you ask me?"
"Have you obtained my approval for the plans and objectives you wish to implement?"
After Teach finished speaking, he moved away from Dumbledore and snapped his fingers.
Xia Ke transformed into a dragon girl, flapping her dragon-scaled wings and instantly appearing behind Teach. Her dragon eyes and the faint Fiery Dragon Breath gathering in her mouth were aimed at Dumbledore.
Faced with Teach's warning, Dumbledore pondered for a moment, then drew his Elder Wand and beckoned Fawkes the Phoenix to his side, saying, "Teach Carr, I am the Headmaster of Hogwarts. I cannot allow this great magic school, with its thousand-year history, to decline in six hundred years."
"Griffin's importance to Hogwarts is something this old man will never compromise on."
"You know I'm known in the wizarding world as the greatest and most powerful white wizard, but do you know why I, who holds these titles, always wear a gray robe?"
Dumbledore explained, answering his own question, "Because...between black and white, I chose gray."
"It is neither the white of justice nor the black of evil, but the gray in between."
"Is it gray?" Teach thought to himself as he looked at Dumbledore, who was determined not to give up on Griffin. He considered the pros and cons of the situation.
While Teach could certainly use force to compel Dumbledore to abandon his impure motives toward Griffin and Hermione, doing so would have many drawbacks.
The place where Teach and Dumbledore are playing chess is above Hogwarts Castle. If force is used, then professors like McGonagall and Snape will definitely attack Teach.
In this situation, Teach would have no place at Hogwarts afterward.
It's not that Teach Carr insisted on staying at Hogwarts, but rather that he still had important magical research to complete and something crucial to him to obtain.
After much deliberation, Teach decided to step back and let Dumbledore carry out his plan for the time being.
Hermione is Griffin's master. Given their master-servant relationship, Teach doesn't believe Dumbledore can use emotional appeals to keep Griffin at Hogwarts and make him a magical charging station for the castle.
Even without a master-servant relationship, given the proud nature of the mythical griffin Griffin Hufflepuff, it would never again be bound by anything that would cost it its freedom.
Teach then had Shake revert to her dragon form, and then said with a cold laugh, "Headmaster Dumbledore, if you want to lure danger to Hogwarts, to Hermione and Griffin, so that staying at Hogwarts is the safest option, then you'd better think about the consequences~"
"As her teacher, I would never allow my student Hermione to be harmed without cause."
"Then... you, as the principal, must be prepared to come out and clean up the mess at any time."
After delivering his final warning, Teach brought Shake down to the rooftop of the tower, leaving Dumbledore alone on his flying broomstick, struggling to make a decision.
The choice was to risk the lives of others to carry out the Griffin Plan.
Or should we abandon Griffin and prevent those innocent wizards from coming to Hogwarts to die?
This was a difficult choice, but Dumbledore made his decision in his heart after a short while. His grey wizard robes stood out conspicuously in the evening night.
......
On the rooftop of the tower.
With the help of his young owner Hermione, Griffin successfully built a 4-meter-wide nest out of branches and then covered it with dry grass, creating a perfect masterpiece.
At Hermione's invitation, Griffin acquiesced to Teach and Shakky lying on its lair.
I must say, it feels pretty good to lie on, not much worse than a soft bed with a quilt.
The moon had already risen, and the three people and one beast on the tower could see them clearly. Little Hermione, nestled in Griffin's warm, sun-like embrace, asked, "Teacher, what did you talk about with Headmaster Dumbledore in the sky just now?"
"I see you laughing one minute and getting angry the next."
Teach lay on the dry grass, gazing at the starry night sky, and chuckled, "My conversation with Old Deng wasn't pleasant, but it's irrelevant."
"...Hermione, have you been cleaning and maintaining the gun I gave you every day?"
“Oh, yes, some teachers,” Hermione replied, taking the enchanted silver spear Beretta from the pouch at her waist.
Teach took it and then handled the silver spear with exceptional skill before tossing it back to Hermione after confirming it was in good condition.
"Hermione, you'd better stay focused for the rest of the semester!"
"Because your days ahead will be full of excitement."
