Rebirth with a Space to Counterattack and Abuse the Scumbag

Chapter 55 The Showdown Between Truth and Lies

"Who?!" A deep voice echoed in the darkness.

My heart started racing. I held my breath and pressed myself tightly against the wall, almost becoming one with the darkness.

The warehouse was dimly lit, and a tall figure could be vaguely seen rummaging through something.

It's Lu Zhan!

I became even more convinced of my judgment.

He must be destroying evidence!

I crept closer, trying to see what he was doing.

He was holding a stack of documents, tearing them into pieces one by one, and then throwing them into the brazier next to him.

The raging flames devoured the paper, crackling and popping, and also devoured my hope.

No, I can't let him destroy all the evidence!

Just as I was about to appear and stop him, I suddenly heard footsteps outside the warehouse.

somebody is coming!

I quickly hid behind a huge wooden crate, held my breath, and observed the movements outside.

The warehouse door was pushed open, and two bodyguards in black walked in.

"Young Master Lu, everything is arranged," one of the bodyguards said.

"That student reporter has already been 'persuaded' by our people."

Student journalist?

Could it be Liu Zhengqing from the school newspaper?

My heart skipped a beat as I realized the seriousness of the situation.

Lu Zhan actually struck first and misled the reporters!

I must find Liu Zhengqing as soon as possible and expose Lu Zhan's conspiracy!

After leaving the warehouse, I immediately contacted Liu Zhengqing and arranged to meet him at the back of the school.

I briefly told him the evidence I had gathered, hoping he could help me expose Lu Zhan's true colors.

However, Liu Zhengqing's attitude surprised me.

His eyes flickered, and his tone was full of doubt.

"Miao Qing, do you have any evidence for what you're saying?"

I was stunned; I hadn't expected him to react this way.

"Of course! I saw it with my own eyes..." Before I could finish speaking, I was interrupted by a commotion.

Several students suddenly appeared, pointing at me and shouting, "It's her! She's been spreading rumors and slandering Senior Lu Zhan!" "She's just jealous of Senior Lu Zhan because of her poor grades, and she's deliberately framing him!"

That's when I realized that Lu Zhan had not only misled Liu Zhengqing, but also arranged for people to attack me, leaving me speechless.

I looked at Liu Zhengqing, and his eyes grew increasingly suspicious and indifferent.

I took a deep breath and forced myself to calm down.

"Liu Zhengqing, do you really believe what they're saying? Don't you want to know the truth?"

Liu Zhengqing was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke: "The truth? What is the truth? What I see now is you..." He paused, his gaze falling on my hands, "What are you holding in your hand?"

I clutched tightly in my hand a half-sheet of paper that I had picked up from Lu Zhan's warehouse. It wasn't completely burned yet; it was crumpled and had charred edges.

I originally planned to present other evidence first, but this unexpected turn of events made me change my mind.

I slowly unfolded the half-sheet of paper, on which I could vaguely make out the words "Cooperation Agreement" and a hastily written signature—"Lu Zhan".

I held the paper up to Liu Zhengqing and said, word by word, "This is the evidence! Lu Zhan colluded with an off-campus company to defraud the school and students. This is the truth I want to expose!"

Liu Zhengqing's pupils suddenly contracted, and he snatched the paper from my hand, examining it carefully.

The students who had been shouting earlier fell silent. They looked at each other, seemingly realizing the seriousness of the situation.

Liu Zhengqing's expression was uncertain, clearly indicating that he was having an intense internal struggle.

He looked at me, then at the half-sheet of paper, then at the students, as if he were weighing something.

"This...this is just half a piece of paper, it doesn't prove anything..." Liu Zhengqing's voice trembled slightly, but his hand holding the half piece of paper tightened unconsciously.

I didn't rush to explain; instead, I took another neatly folded piece of paper from my pocket and slowly unfolded it...

“I think you’ll be more interested in this one,” I said calmly, handing the paper over.

On the paper, it was clearly written...

Instead of directly explaining the origin of that half-piece of paper, I smiled slightly and said to Liu Zhengqing, "Liu Zhengqing, instead of listening to only one side of the story here, why don't we go and see some more direct evidence?" I deliberately paused, observing his reaction.

He took the bait, a hint of hesitation flashing in his eyes, but he ultimately nodded.

I know that his deep-seated desire for the truth overcame Lu Zhan's lies.

"Where to?" he asked in a low voice.

"Lu Zhan's secret stronghold." I spoke calmly, yet with a resounding tone, like a pebble thrown into a still lake, creating ripples.

The students around me immediately erupted in chaos, shouting and discussing, their eyes filled with fear and unease as they looked at me.

I know that once Lu Zhan's secret base is exposed, his true colors will be completely revealed to the world.

I led Liu Zhengqing around the teaching building, across the playground, and into a deserted grove of trees behind the school.

There is an abandoned warehouse here, which is Lu Zhan's secret base.

I deliberately slowed down to give Lu Zhan enough time to react.

I knew he wouldn't just sit idly by and wait to die; he would definitely try every means to stop me.

Sure enough, when I pushed open the warehouse door, a strong smell of gasoline hit me.

The warehouse was pitch black; you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

I sneered inwardly, "Lu Zhan, do you think you can stump me with such a small trick?"

"Watch out!" Liu Zhengqing grabbed my arm and whispered nervously.

I patted his hand to reassure him, then took a lighter out of my pocket and lit it with a "snap".

The faint light illuminated a corner of the warehouse, and also...

A thin steel wire connects the warehouse door to a huge oil drum...

"Wait..." I grabbed Liu Zhengqing's wrist and pulled him behind me.

"What's wrong?" he asked, puzzled.

I pointed to the steel wire and said, word by word, "Look..."

The flickering firelight illuminated the almost transparent steel wire, which gleamed dangerously in the darkness.

Liu Zhengqing gasped, his face turning deathly pale.

"This is... a trap?" His voice trembled as he looked at me in disbelief.

I nodded, thinking to myself that Lu Zhan was indeed ruthless, actually trying to use this method to kill and silence witnesses.

Luckily, I was prepared.

I smiled slightly and mysteriously pulled a delicate little bottle out of my pocket. Under Liu Zhengqing's questioning gaze, I gently uncorked the bottle, and a strange fragrance instantly filled the air.

"What is this?" he asked curiously.

I didn't answer, but simply pointed the bottle at the wire and sprayed it lightly.

A miraculous thing happened: the steel wire melted at a speed visible to the naked eye and eventually broke.

"This is a specially made potion, designed to deal with these kinds of tricks," I explained casually, a hint of smugness in my voice.

I carefully led Liu Zhengqing around the oil drums and continued deeper into the warehouse.

The warehouse was filled with all sorts of odds and ends, and the air was thick with a musty smell.

By the faint light of the fire, I carefully searched every corner.

Finally, in a corner, I found a locked iron box.

I used the master key in my spatial storage to open the box, which was filled with various documents and ledgers.

I quickly flipped through it, a victorious smile spreading across my face.

These documents and ledgers are evidence of Lu Zhan's collaboration with off-campus companies to defraud people!

I handed the evidence to Liu Zhengqing, who examined it carefully, his expression growing increasingly grave.

I know he has already believed everything I said.

"Thank you, Miao Qing. You showed me the truth," he said solemnly, his eyes filled with gratitude and admiration.

I was just about to leave the warehouse with Liu Zhengqing when I suddenly heard a commotion outside.

Oh no, someone is coming!

I quickly extinguished the lighter, closed the warehouse door again, and then pulled Liu Zhengqing into a corner.

With a loud "bang!", the warehouse door was kicked open.

The blinding light shone in, and I squinted to see a familiar figure standing in the doorway—Vice Principal Gu Yuan!

Several school security guards followed behind him, each looking fierce and menacing.

"What are you doing here?" Gu Yuan asked sharply, his eyes sweeping over us with a fierce gaze.

My heart sank suddenly and an ominous premonition came over me.

It seems that Lu Zhan has already told the vice principal about the matter, and he's here to prevent us from revealing the truth!
