Firefly Journey
Chapter 98 Freshmen at St. Louis College (5)
On the second floor, a young nobleman with blond hair and golden eyes suddenly appeared in front of the table of Class 29, holding a wine glass filled with an unknown liquid.
“There seems to be an empty seat. May I sit down?” Morgan asked politely.
Everyone knew him well, and because they often came to see the wind chimes, these classmates had benefited from his presence quite a bit, so naturally they had no objections.
The wind chime remained silent, its gaze fixed downwards.
Seeing that no one objected, he simply plopped down on the floor.
"Has Lü Jianming caused trouble again?" Morgan's relationship with the Crown Prince of Great Chu was only so-so; they were not sworn enemies, but they were not so close that they could sit at the same table together. They were just casual acquaintances.
One of them was polite to everyone, while the other was rude to everyone. But Lü Jianming was smart. The other noble children simply used their family's money and status to flaunt their power, while Morgan was truly beginning to gradually take control of the family's power, making his position completely different.
"It seems so. Nobody can do anything about him. We can't exactly call the school leaders, can we?" Fei Wei said.
Morgan said, "Regardless of who is right or wrong, he's never willing to suffer a loss. After all, we initiated this gathering. If something out of line happens, it won't be good if it gets back to the school leaders. I'm planning to take care of it. What do you think, Wind Chime?"
Morgan has always been patient with girls he's liked since childhood, and he's not afraid of being rejected despite his efforts.
He chose to intervene for two reasons. The simplest reason was that even though Fengling had always looked down on Lü Jianming, they were still classmates and shared a bond, so he would help if he could.
Secondly, as he said, if things escalate, it won't benefit anyone; it's best to keep things quiet. His Demos family is the strongest of the seven dukes in terms of overall power, and Hodge certainly doesn't want to offend them.
"Go ahead and meddle if you want, but don't drag me into it," Wind Chime said.
“You still remember how nosy I was,” Morgan said gently.
"This……"
Even though everyone knew that Morgan liked wind chimes, the students in Class 29 were still surprised. "You're really too much! You're the future heir of the Demos family. Is it really okay to put yourself in such a humble position?"
Everyone was internally ranting and raving, and even Hauglis and Fwayne almost burst out laughing because they couldn't control their expressions, but they managed to keep their composure.
Feng Ling was also taken aback for a moment, then her expression returned to its coldness. "I've said it before, you can do whatever you want, it has nothing to do with me."
“It’ll be ready soon,” Morgan said with a smile. “I’ve already urged my grandfather. The wedding, which should have taken place when you come of age, has been delayed again and again. It’s time to put it on the agenda.”
"Master Xu...our intentions are the same. We'll get married no later than after next year's academy competition."
Feng Ling laughed, not in a flamboyant way, but in a wanton and unrestrained way: "I also said that my grandfather is my grandfather, and I am me. What I, Xu Penglong, want to do is entirely up to me."
“Wind Chime, don’t be willful. You can’t escape the family’s destiny,” Morgan said with a doting expression.
Xu Penglong stopped talking and started touching the untouched snacks on the table.
Morgan stood up, straightened his collar, and walked downstairs.
Fway muttered to himself, "Only Morgan would dare to mess with Wind Chime. He's a real warrior. If it were us, we'd probably be hanging from a tree on the playground all night."
"Look at your pathetic self," Hauglis said disdainfully, though his voice was also low. "If I were the son of the Demos family, I'd fucking do the same!"
"Say less, or the wind chimes might take their anger out on you two," Upton warned with a smile.
Mirashu and Allen exchanged a smile.
“Long time no see, Hodge, no, perhaps I should call you Factory Manager Hodge?” Morgan walked downstairs alone. “The new textile factory you took over during the summer vacation is doing very well. I’m very honored to have such a high-quality supplier as Amelia’s family.”
The golden-eyed man exuded a fiery aristocratic aura, forcing Hodge to greet him with a smile. The man's words were a direct attack on his lifeline.
The textile factory that he ran during the summer vacation was like a testing ground given to him by his family. If he did well, he could naturally solidify his position as heir and increase his prestige.
If you don't do well, there are so many eyes on the side branches, lurking in the shadows, emitting a man-eating green light, just waiting for you to stumble and then stab you in the back.
The success or failure of a textile factory depends on its profitability, and unfortunately, the Demos family is its largest customer.
He was determined to save face for Morgan, no matter what.
“What’s going on?” Morgan asked.
Hodge Amelia began to accuse Lü Jianming, exaggerating in many places and almost portraying him as a rapist.
"Is that so?" Morgan asked Sabrina again.
Although Sabrina was angry with Lü Jianming, she was still happy to take the opportunity to back down.
“I didn’t see it with my own eyes and don’t know the whole story, but I think that the students taught by Professor Cassius wouldn’t have serious moral problems.”
Sabrina naturally sided with Lü Jianming and could only speak against her conscience. She had heard about the shady things Lü Jianming had done, but those girls were not clean to begin with, so the situation was different from what she was seeing now.
"The welcome party is a celebration for us students. As long as it's not too excessive, the school leaders will definitely not get involved."
Hodge, you don't want things to escalate to the point where nobody can have fun, do you?
Hodge quickly weighed the pros and cons, but then thought, "What's the point of weighing the pros and cons? Morgan said that, so he's obviously playing peacemaker. It wouldn't be right not to give him face."
"Never mind, it's not a big deal. Just watch your mouth in the future."
"And what about you, this elven junior?" Morse turned his gaze to Pauline.
The elders in the Pauline family had a past relationship with the Amelia family, which is why they entrusted her with this task. Since Hodge of the Amelia family was willing to back down, she had no choice but to accept it.
"It's nothing, just please show more respect to others in the future," Pauline said.
"It seems the junior is very magnanimous. Then the senior should be even more courteous. How about Your Highness apologizes?" Morgan couldn't accept the apology for nothing, so he had to give Hodge and his group a way out.
Lu Jianming was about to unleash a torrent of curses, asking if he was even worthy of such a rebuke, when he was immediately stopped by Sabrina's gaze. It was as if she were saying, "If you intend to continue causing trouble, I will relay everything to the teacher."
Lu Jianming mumbled and spoke very quickly, "I'm sorry."
"Let's go, don't let the cockroaches spoil our mood!"
Hodge Amelia gave a signal, and Pauline and her group dispersed.
Sabrina knew that her best friend Windbell didn't like her nominal fiancé, but as the eldest granddaughter of the Broan family, she couldn't just follow suit, especially since Morgan had helped her a lot today.
“Thank you, Mr. Morgan,” Sabrina said, using a respectful title in a very formal way.
"It was no trouble at all." Morgan waved his hand. "Go on up, I still want to chat with Wind Chime."
Lin Yuanran whispered to Paninger, "Your boss seems pretty good..."
Paninger whispered, "That's just what we call him in private! Don't tell anyone."
Lin Yuanran was speechless for a moment. So your boss didn't know he had taken in a little sister like you? That's really something!
Lin Yuanran thought he could go up and find a chance to touch the snacks on the table, but he glanced around and saw a familiar face in the crowd. He wanted to go and say hello.
That man is Reinhard Lee, a waiter. I don't know why he's here. Was he working part-time while studying before?
