Firefly Journey

Chapter 30 Major Events in the Small Town (6)

The tavern was packed with people.

Ryan Andre has recently been going to the town's dilapidated little church to pray, praising the great god of light and wisdom. He didn't originally believe in this, but since he's making so much money, he might as well give it a try.

In the bustling tavern, Olek Andrei was busy moving about. Since realizing that he was not destined for supernatural powers, he had calmed down and turned his attention to his own business.

The Orc Butcher Brothers are regulars at the tavern, spending all their time there except when they're sleeping, just like Worstin.

For once, the Frost Troll McCauley walked into the tavern, ordered a beer on the rocks, and plopped down at the table with the two brothers.

Because of their fierce appearance, and adhering to the principle of "better safe than sorry," no one wanted to share a table with them. Perhaps Macaulay thought that since he looked similar to the Butcher Brothers, it wouldn't matter if they squeezed in.

With just one glance, the Butcher Brothers sensed the aura of the troll before them—a high-ranking powerhouse.

“You don’t mind, do you?” McCauley said.

The eldest brother, Neil, shook his head: "Absolutely no problem."

Having learned from Cassius's experience, they now understand that good tempers like Mr. Werewolf are rare, and those who can't control their temper will suffer greatly.

The curtain was lifted, and a special guest walked into the tavern. He was not old, about the same age as Ario, who was a regular customer. He had short brown hair and wore cheap linen clothes.

Du Pippen.

Olek, busy with his work, spotted his friend at a glance and was surprised that he was there. Old Durant and Pippen were regulars, but Little Durant and Pippen didn't seem to have this kind of hobby.

"You... came here for a drink?" Olek asked.

“Yes, a glass of absinthe, thank you,” Dupippo said expressionlessly.

Olek roughly knew what was going on. Although Cassius had suppressed the news of Old Dupippen's death at home, the townspeople were not well-trained soldiers, so how could they be expected to obey orders 100%?

Privately, there was a lot of discussion, and rumors flew around the tavern. Seeing Dupippon's dejected appearance, Olek was certain that the news was true, and he sighed, feeling sorry for his friend.

"for you."

"Did you take the wrong one?" Dupipon asked, looking at the pale yellow liquid in front of him.

“No,” Olek Andrei said seriously. “You’re not in the right condition for absinthe. Pear liqueur would be more suitable. Also, this glass is on me, you don’t need to pay.”

“Not pay? Won’t your father beat you? He’s such a stingy person… I mean, he’s the kind of person who keeps accounts straight.”

"You may not know this, but I now have control of this tavern. Giving away a little something now and then is fine; consider it a promotion."

Dupippen shook his head: "No."

He pulled out five copper coins and threw them on the counter: "I remember it being this price, right?"

Olek nodded, collected all the copper coins, and had achieved his goal of exchanging the absinthe for pear wine. If Dupippon insisted on it, so be it; this way, he could feel more at ease.

"Be careful, these guests are not to be trifled with." Olek gave a friendly reminder. The superhumans at the lower levels were arrogant and, under the influence of alcohol, many of them lost their minds.

A few days ago, a fight broke out in the bar, in which one person had his front tooth knocked out. The incident was only brought to an end when Curry Ward arrived.

Frustrated, Du Pippen was about to sit down in a corner with his pear wine when he was bumped by someone who got up. The glass fell to the ground and shattered, splashing pear wine everywhere.

Some of it spilled onto that person's back.

"Hey kid, can't you watch where you're going?" the burly man said menacingly, clearly having a short temper.

Dupippen raised his head, staring at the unfriendly face without fear or expression.

"Hey!" The burly man put his hand on Dupipeng's shoulder. "Don't look like you've lost your parents. Lick your clothes clean, or I'll teach you a lesson."

Seeing this, Olek at the counter immediately jogged over and smiled apologetically at the burly man: "Sir, he didn't mean it, there's no need to be so rude."

How about this? We'll cover all your expenses today. Don't argue with him, okay?

Upon hearing that the meal would be free, the burly man was in high spirits and gave a soft hum, ready to agree.

"not good."

The speaker was Dupipon, his eyes filled with malice and resentment as he looked at the strong man.

Olek thought to himself, "This is terrible! You don't know when to back down! How am I supposed to save you now?"

Dupippen continued, "You have to pay for my wine, or this isn't over."

In the past, Dupippen might have actually complied and accepted Olek's offer, but since his father's death, his temperament has subtly changed.

"I think you're living too comfortably!" the strong man said fiercely, then stretched out his thick arms, trying to lift Dupipon up.

Olek was sweating profusely and tried his best to persuade him, but the strong man, angered by Dupippon, wouldn't listen to anything now and was determined to teach him a lesson.

"Hiss!" The strong man suddenly released his grip, leaving a tooth mark on it.

Dupimpon spat on the ground and stretched out his thin arm; he actually wanted to fight.

Maybe he just wanted to vent, but can't you see the difference in physical strength? The other person is a superhuman; if he gets really angry and uses magic, your life will be in danger!

Olek gently clenched his fist. He had already made up his mind: as long as Dupippen charged forward, he would attack from the side. In a fight, two people are always better than one.

"you wanna die!"

The strong man threw a punch, which stopped less than five centimeters from Dupipon's forehead.

"enough!"

The commotion at this table had already drawn everyone's attention. As they looked in the direction of the sound, Jonathan slowly walked down the stairs, his mane standing on end.

A werewolf standing on end means he's somewhat angry.

Jonathan witnessed the entire incident from the second floor. He had always hated those superhumans who were unreasonable and oppressed the good.

Jonathan withdrew his magic, and the strong man's arm fell to his sides. There was a hint of resentment in his eyes, but more so, fear of facing an even stronger opponent.

That's how these people are; they bully the weak and fear the strong. Once they encounter someone more powerful than themselves, they immediately back down.

“Go and turn yourself in to the mayor. Consider it a lesson you’ll learn,” Jonathan admonished.

The strong man gritted his teeth, unable to muster any resistance, and said, "Fine, fine."

"Get out!" Jonathan kicked him in the backside, and the strong man stumbled and scrambled out of the tavern.

"Thank you, Mr. Jonathan," Olek said gratefully. Luckily, Mr. Werewolf was there, otherwise he would probably have been in for a beating.

"I just can't stand these people bullying the weak," Jonathan said, turning his gaze to Dupimp. That kid was ruthless; that bite just now had really hurt the strong man, which was why he reacted so strongly.

He is a ruthless person.

"What's your name?"

“Du Pippen,” he answered honestly.
