Black Market Boss: His Beloved Wife's Lazy Life

Chapter 156 Going to find Grandpa.

"Put it next to the stove!" Shang's mother pointed to their own coal stove.

"Little sister, here's the room we've prepared for you. You and your brother-in-law can get some rest tonight." Shang Yanyan pointed to a room on the first floor.

"Okay, thank you, sister." Shang Yanfang smiled at her sister and carried the child back to her room.

That night, the whole family slept very well.

Gao Jianguo also got up early to make breakfast for the whole family.

When Shang's father and second brother saw that Gao Jianguo had cooked the meal when they woke up in the morning, their impression of him as their son-in-law/brother-in-law improved considerably.

When Shang Yanfang got up with her two children, only her three children and her mother were left at home.

"Mom, where's Gao Jianguo?" Shang Yanfang felt a little uneasy when she didn't see Gao Jianguo.

“Jianguo has gone to find his grandfather.” Shang’s mother glanced at her disheveled daughter.

"Oh, she went to see Grandpa Gao!" Shang Yanfang was still in a daze.

Gao Jianguo went there early in the morning with the address his grandfather had given him.

They stopped in front of a magnificent courtyard. "Stop."

The young soldier on guard immediately shouted when he saw that the person was a stranger.

"Hello, comrade, I'm looking for Chief Gao from Building 8."

"Commander Gao, we need to verify your identity before we can contact him." The young soldier picked up the phone and dialed Old Master Gao's number.

The Gao family now consists of only Grandpa Gao and a bodyguard. Grandma Gao passed away a few years ago, and Grandpa Gao has only one son.

He had studied abroad and married a foreigner. During the turmoil, they moved abroad, and he was implicated and sent to the countryside because of this.

If he hadn't found his eldest grandson in the countryside, he probably wouldn't have been able to come back.

Gao Jianguo, standing next to the phone, heard a strong voice coming from the other end.

"Hey, Gao family, is there something you need?"

"Hello, there's someone at the gate looking for you, Commander Gao," the soldier said in a very respectful tone.

"Looking for me? Who would look for me?" Old Master Gao wondered, unable to recall for a moment.

"Comrade, what's your name?" The young soldier looked at Gao Jianguo when he heard Commander Gao's question.

"My name is Gao Jianguo." Gao Jianguo's self-introduction was heard directly by Old Master Gao on the other end of the receiver.

He had originally thought that with the Liu family's girl back, his grandson would be coming soon too.

Unexpectedly, he appeared right in front of her.

"Come in, let him in," Old Master Gao exclaimed excitedly before the young soldier could even announce Gao Jianguo's name.

Gao Jianguo was let in and followed the directions given by the young soldier to the Gao family home.

Grandpa Gao was already waiting at the door.

"Jianguo, are you all alone? Where are the children?" When Grandpa Gao saw Gao Jianguo, he excitedly ran a few steps, not at all like a seventy-year-old man.

"Grandpa, my wife and child are still at my mother-in-law's house." Gao Jianguo, with his long legs, took big strides and helped the old man up.

"Why didn't you bring them with you?" Old Master Gao complained, looking at his eldest grandson.

"Grandpa, we just arrived at my wife's house last night, and I came here today. My wife and child are still asleep." Gao Jianguo helped the old man back home.

"I see. I'll go with you to visit your in-laws later," the old man said, sitting on the sofa.

"Grandpa, I'll bring Yanfang and the others to visit you in a few days." Gao Jianguo looked around the duplex apartment.

"That's fine. You must bring my great-grandchildren over in a couple of days." Old Master Gao was happy to hear that he would be bringing his great-grandchildren, including his granddaughter-in-law, to visit him.

"Jianguo, which university did your wife get into?" Grandpa Gao had sent Shang Yanfang some study materials before, but he didn't know how they did on the exam.

"Grandpa, my wife got into Jingda University." Gao Jianguo's words carried an inexplicable sense of pride, as if he, the old father, was showing off his daughter's college admission.

"Peking University is great! What are you planning to do?" Old Master Gao asked his grandson.

"Grandpa, that's why I came here. Yanfang and I plan to settle down in Beijing. We want to buy a house."

As soon as Gao Jianguo finished speaking, Old Master Gao's expression changed.

"Jianguo, you can just stay at home, why bother buying a house!"

"Grandpa, don't overthink it. We're thinking of buying a house near the Shang family's place so that it will be convenient for my mother-in-law to help us take care of the children."

Grandpa Gao felt a strong urge to get closer to those three fair-skinned little ones.

"Alright, I'll have someone inquire about it, but I want to move in with you all," Old Master Gao said, as if a thought had just crossed his mind.

"Okay, Grandpa. Hurry up and find it for me, I'm going back now." Gao Jianguo came here to familiarize himself with the place.

"Have lunch before you go back," Old Master Gao said, trying to persuade him to stay.

"No, Grandpa. The children are all at home. I'll go back and keep them company. I'll bring them over to keep you company tomorrow."

"Xiao Zhang, drive Jianguo to safety," Old Master Gao instructed his bodyguard.

"Yes, sir." Guard Zhang responded and went to get the car.

Gao Jianguo then got into the military region's car and returned to the food factory's residential compound.

A large group of elderly women in the residential compound saw the car and curiously followed it.

When the vehicle stopped at the factory director's house, the factory director's son-in-law even got out of the car.

They were all whispering among themselves, "Hey, what kind of old man is the factory manager's son-in-law that he can still ride in a car?"

"Yanfang is such a lucky girl. She was the prettiest girl in our neighborhood since she was little, and now she's married to a good family."

These are the nice things said; there are also harsher things said.

"What do you mean by 'marrying well'? He's just a peasant, how can he be compared to us city folks?"

"That little girl has always had a seductive look about her since she was little. I don't know where she seduced those men. It's her good fortune that my son is attracted to her, yet she still says that my son is a toad trying to eat swan meat."

Silence, a deathly stillness.

"Liu Dahua, what did you say? Say it again." When Shang's mother heard from her son-in-law that her in-laws had prepared a gift for her, she came out to get it.

Then I heard this old geezer slandering her daughter.

When Liu Dahua saw Shang's mother come to her side, she glared at the people around her. Why didn't anyone give her a heads-up?

"Hehe, Sister Shang, no, she didn't say anything. She just praised your daughter for having good taste and finding a good son-in-law." Liu Dahua was so timid because her husband was a team leader at the factory.

The reason they were causing trouble for the Shang family was because the Shang family had rejected their son's marriage proposal.

"Really? You have a good eye. My son-in-law is much better than some of those lazy, cunning, and slackers."

Every word that Shang's mother said hit Liu Dahua squarely.
