Su Yuanyuan reluctantly entered the space on the very last day.

Looking at the room that was already packed full, she finally felt a little comforted.

She took a deep breath and slowly walked into the portal.

When Su Yuanyuan opened her eyes again, everything was pitch black. She could hear people talking around her, but unfortunately, she couldn't understand a word they said.

Su Yuanyuan panicked and tried to call for help, but all she could manage were syllables like "ah~ ah~".

A moment later, she felt herself being picked up. Startled, she flailed her limbs and heard someone laughing loudly.

Before long, her eyelids felt heavy, and she eventually succumbed to sleepiness and fell asleep.

After a month of eating and sleeping, Su Yuanyuan deduced, through a combination of guesswork and deduction, that she might have traveled to ancient times.

She had been reborn into the world of the dead. When she was able to see, she discovered that this was indeed ancient times, but it was a fictional world, a dynasty she had never heard of before.

Su Yuanyuan temporarily gave up exploring the new world and obediently played the role of a little baby.

She pieced together some information from her parents, albeit in fragments.

The place they live in now is called Lianhua Village, which is under the jurisdiction of Qingyun County. They don't know where it is further away. The people in this village have never left Qingyun County in their entire lives.

This country is also ruled by an emperor. There is no war now, and the people live in peace and contentment.

Su Yuanyuan's parents were both only children, which was very rare in that era.

They had several cousins, but none of them lived in the same village. Because they had no brothers to help them, their family was relatively poor compared to other villagers.

She learned from her parents' conversation that they did not plan to have another child.

While Su Yuanyuan was happy, she was also a little worried. They had been really good to her these past few months, and she knew she would be leaving sooner or later. She was afraid they would be left destitute in their old age.

Soon Su Yuanyuan had no time to overthink things; she had reached the required age, and her mother began having her learn embroidery.

Every time she looked at her fingers, which were covered in thorns, she felt like crying. Her family was already so poor, so why could they afford to hire an embroidery master?

She had discussed this issue with her mother. According to her mother, since they had always had only one son, they were still able to save some money.

She appears to be struggling financially, but it's all an act for outsiders. Otherwise, as a girl, she'd be the target of all sorts of unwanted advances.

Su Yuanyuan could only study with a bitter face, while still being extremely grateful to her mother.

That evening, with her hands wrapped up like rice dumplings, Su Yuanyuan clicked on the lottery, and another long wait ensued.

As it slowly came to a stop at the skill's location, Su Yuanyuan's eyes widened; her luck had exploded!

I took a closer look at the instructions. It said it allowed me to become invisible in the night?

……

What kind of skill is that?!

Su Yuanyuan wanted to throw the spinning wheel away, but it was already so dark in the countryside at night that you couldn't see anyone, so there was no need to become invisible!

She lay on the bed, feeling utterly hopeless, knowing she wasn't so lucky after all, and that her hopes had been dashed.

She closed the lottery interface, threw the skill into her spatial storage, covered herself with the blanket, and went to sleep. She didn't want to learn this skill right now.

"Mother, this is a flower I embroidered for you." Su Yuanyuan ran into her mother's room with her short legs, holding a newly embroidered handkerchief in her hand.

Hearing the voice, Yue Niang put down her work, looked at her and smiled gently, "Let me see if the flowers that our Yuan Yuan embroidered are pretty."

Su Yuanyuan handed over the handkerchief, "Mother, take a look! The master praised my embroidery today."

She put her head on her mother's lap, blinked her big, dark eyes, and looked like she wanted praise.

Moon Lady carefully examined the embroidery, a hint of unease flashing in her eyes. Her young lady's embroidery skills were really not very good; it was hard for the master to praise her against his conscience.

"The embroidery is quite good. Is it for Mother?" Yue Niang was silent for a while, looking at her bright, watery eyes, unable to say anything else.

In the end, I realized that sometimes you can do without a conscience.

"Yes! Mother, do you like it?" Su Yuanyuan nodded, revealing a slightly silly smile.

"Mother likes it very much, thank you Yuanyuan." Yueniang rubbed her daughter's head and smiled helplessly.

Her daughter, the older she gets, the more childish she becomes.

"Mother, when is Father coming back? Will we have meat today?"

Su Yuanyuan took off her shoes and sat on the bed, resting her hands on the table. She leaned close to her mother's ear and whispered a question.

"What's wrong with you? Your father won't be back until tonight. There's no meat today, but we'll make some for you tomorrow."

Seeing her silly antics, Yue Niang stretched out a finger and gently pushed her head away, deliberately showing a look of disgust on her face.

"Mother, am I not your precious darling anymore?" Su Yuanyuan also leaned back, covering her chest with both hands as if in pain.

Her antics made Yue Niang laugh out loud. "Stop fooling around. Go boil the water. I'll cook in a bit."

"Got it!"

Su Yuanyuan responded and ran out. Yue Niang watched her retreating figure and shook her head.

She quickly finished her work, patted off imaginary dirt, got out of bed, and prepared to cook.

Su Yuanyuan was watching the fire in the kitchen, poking around in the stove with a stick in one hand.

"You little brat, get out of here, don't get in the way." Yue Niang went up and tapped her forehead with her finger, shooing her away.

Su Yuanyuan quickly threw away the stick, ran out with a grin, and shouted something to the kitchen.

"Mother, I'm going out for a bit, I'll be right back."

"Dinner's almost ready, where are you going?" When Yue Niang came out, she could no longer see Su Yuanyuan. She shook her head and went back to the kitchen.

Su Yuanyuan ran out and headed straight for the back mountain. When she was bored, she set up a few small traps on the back mountain and went over to see if she had caught any prey.

She wants to eat meat! She can't wait until tomorrow.

Su Yuanyuan walked carefully along the mountain path, her eyes constantly glancing around to see if there were any other good things she could bring back.

Soon they reached the first trap. Su Yuanyuan looked at the fallen trap; there was nothing inside.

"Looks like it got away." Muttering to herself, Su Yuanyuan squatted down and put the trap back in place. "Let's go check the next one."

As she stood up, she caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye, and carefully parted the grass. "It's a mushroom!"

Su Yuanyuan smiled happily. It was just the right time to pick some mushrooms to cook with the meat. She quickly picked the mushrooms and put them in her clothes.

She went a little further in, and the second trap was destroyed. Su Yuanyuan ran over and saw a rabbit lying in the trap.

Because Su Yuanyuan had stuck several sharpened, thick branches into the trap, the rabbit was no longer moving.

Su Yuanyuan lay down on the ground and reached out to grab the rabbit. "We'll have meat for dinner tonight."

Su Yuanyuan put the rabbit aside, carefully restored the trap, rewrapped the mushroom, and then picked up the rabbit and walked back.

I won't bother looking at the other traps; it would be dangerous to go any further at this point. Anyway, I've already got my share of meat for today.

On the way back, Su Yuanyuan skipped and hopped all the way, humming an unknown little tune.
