The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 99 Showdown

Wenfei and Wenjie arrived at the entrance of the Liang residence, with Wenfei walking in front.

“That’s not right! Second brother, this is your future father-in-law’s house, you should walk in front,” Wenfei said.

"Get out! Go inside yourself, I'll wait for you here!" Wenjie said irritably.

"Isn't that a bad idea, Second Brother? You've already come all this way to their doorstep. If you don't go in, Imperial Physician Liang will be angry, and Sister Feiyan will start to overthink things," Wenfei said.

"Enough with the nonsense!" Wenjie said.

"Second brother, tell me the truth, do you like Miss Shangguan?" Wenfei asked in a low voice.

“I’ve always liked her,” Wenjie said honestly.

"That's amazing! What about Sister Feiyan? She seems to have feelings for you." Wenfei said.

"I'll handle it. Go inside and call for help. I'll wait for you over there," Wenjie said, pointing to the corner.

Wenfei had no choice but to enter the Liang residence alone.

Just then, Liang Feiyan, who had just returned from playing outside, saw Wenjie hiding around the corner through the car window. She asked the driver to stop the car, and Caihong helped Liang Feiyan down. When Wenjie saw Liang Feiyan, he immediately became nervous.

"Young Master Wen, what are you doing here?" Liang Feiyan asked.

"I'm waiting for Wenfei!" Wenjie said nervously.

"Did Wenfei go to my house?" Liang Feiyan asked.

“Yes!” Wenjie said.

“Let’s go in together!” Liang Feiyan said.

"I..." Wenjie had no choice but to follow Liang Feiyan into the Liang residence.

"Second Brother! Sister Feiyan, you've come back together?" Wenfei said.

"Wenfei, I've taken Weishi and Shangguan back to the post station," Liang Feiyan said.

"Alright! I'll go to the post station to find her. You two can have a good chat." Wenfei said, making a face at Wenjie before leaving the Liang residence.

"Please come in, Young Master Wen," Liang Feiyan said.

"Thank you!" Wenjie said.

As Wenjie entered the Liang residence, he realized that he hadn't been here for many years. This was a place he used to frequent as a child, where he would always come to play with Liang Feiyan and sometimes they would study together. But after he went up Nanshan and met Shangguan Xingyun, everything changed. He hadn't even been to this courtyard once since.

"I'll go and pay my respects to Imperial Physician Liang and Madam Liang first," Wenjie said.

“It’s time for Grandpa to rest now. Let’s go later. My mother went to Tianyun Temple to worship Buddha,” Liang Feiyan said.

"What a coincidence," Wenjie said.

“Let’s sit in the pavilion for a while. Rainbow, go and get some tea,” Liang Feiyan said.

The two sat down in the pavilion. Liang Feiyan looked at Wenjie's uneasy appearance and thought of what Shangguan Xingyun had said earlier: "Feiyan, you are a good girl. You should bravely pursue your own happiness."

"Young Master Wen, you like Sister Shangguan, don't you?" Liang Feiyan voiced the question that had been on her mind.

"Yes!" Wenjie answered affirmatively.

"When did it start?" Liang Feiyan asked.

"When I was fifteen, my master took me to visit Abbess Wuyi in Beishan. I saw a girl on the snow-covered mountain, wielding a long sword. She looked so elegant. At that moment, I thought she was so beautiful! She was the woman of my dreams." Wenjie seemed to have returned to the winter of that year when he was fifteen.

"Why didn't you tell me? For so many years I've been fantasizing about what it would be like for us to be together." Liang Feiyan's tears flowed.

“I haven’t been able to find a suitable opportunity, and besides, my father is a formidable obstacle,” Wenjie said.

"I understand! You can go now!" Liang Feiyan said.

"I'm sorry!" Wenjie stood up to take his leave.

"Second Young Master, you haven't had your tea yet!" Rainbow called out from the corridor, carrying a cup of tea.

"Let him go!" Liang Feiyan said.

"Miss, he rarely comes here, why doesn't he stay a little longer?" Rainbow complained.

"I'm tired, let's go back to my room!" Liang Feiyan said.

Wenjie felt much more relaxed after leaving the Liang residence. He finally told Liang Feiyan what was on his mind. Although he knew Liang Feiyan would be very sad, he believed that it was all temporary and that time would heal everything.

Wenfei went to the post station and had someone call Li Wei out. Li Wei was very happy to see Wenfei.

“I thought your dad wouldn’t let you go out anymore,” Li Wei said.

"How could that be? My dad is so open-minded," Wenfei said proudly.

"My grandfather said we're going back to Wenxian Pavilion tomorrow. Are you really not coming back with us?" Li Wei asked.

"I'm not going. I want to travel around and see the beautiful landscapes of our Great Lu before I think about where to go next," Wenfei said.

"I'm so envious of you, you rascal!" Li Wei said.

“You can go too!” Wenfei said.

“Grandpa won’t allow it. I want to continue practicing martial arts and studying at Wenxian Pavilion,” Li Wei said.

“Your grandfather is keeping an eye on you for your own good. Although I don’t like Wenxian Pavilion, it is indeed a place where many talented people reside,” Wen Fei said.

"What secrets do you and my grandfather share?" Li Wei asked.

“We have no secrets,” Wen Fei said.

"Don't lie to me. I could tell from your conversation. Fine, don't tell me then," Li Wei said.

"Knowing too much is not good. You'll find out eventually," Wenfei said.

"Can you call me by my name from now on?" Li Wei asked.

“Sure! You can call me by my name too!” Wenfei said.

"Wenfei! Will you miss me?" Li Wei asked, blushing.

"Ah! Miss you? Of course! Li Wei." Wen Fei was taken aback by this sudden question.

Seeing Wenfei's embarrassed expression, Li Wei burst into laughter, and Wenfei also laughed awkwardly.

When Wenjie arrived at the entrance of the post station, he saw Wenfei and Li Wei laughing foolishly and asked, "What's wrong with you two?"

"Young Master Wen, you're here to see Sister Shangguan, right? She's inside; she's going back to Beishan tomorrow," Li Wei said.

"Second Brother, let's go say goodbye to Miss Shangguan," Wenfei said.

Wenjie entered the post station; he wanted to tell Shangguan Xingyun about his decision immediately.

Wenjie knocked on Shangguan Xingyun's door, and Shangguan Xingyun opened the door and saw Wenjie.

"Why are you still coming to see me? I've said everything I needed to say, don't you understand? Please don't let down Sister Feiyan's deep affection, okay?" Shangguan Xingyun said.

“I’m here to tell you that I’ve told Miss Liang everything,” Wenjie said.

"How could you hurt such a good girl like Feiyan? You have disappointed me so much," Shangguan Xingyun said with heartache.

“I know you’re used to the life of the martial world. I can go with you, and we can roam the world together,” Wenjie said.

"No need! I prefer to be alone!" Shangguan Xingyun refused.

“Miss Shangguan, why don’t you understand my true feelings for you?” Wenjie said.

"Sister Feiyan is also deeply in love with you, can you feel it?" Shangguan Xingyun said.

"Feelings can't be forced," Wenjie said.

“But I have the right to refuse you, just like you refused Feiyan. Go away! I don’t want to see you again!” Shangguan Xingyun said.

"I won't give up!" Wenjie roared as he walked out of the post station.

Wenfei and Li Wei were at the door watching Wenjie roar out, looking shocked, especially Wenfei, who had never seen his second brother so out of control.
