The Young Swordsman of Dalu
Chapter 32 Grandmaster Uncle, You're Being Favoritistic
After leaving Wenxian Pavilion, Duan Lixing parted ways with Wen Tao. Before leaving, Wen Tao wrote a letter to Li Hong, a subordinate in the Northern Frontier Defense Army, asking him to help Duan Lixing find Liang Feiyan.
Duan Lixing headed north, while Wen Tao led his team back to the capital.
Wen Tao traveled for two days. It was already late when they arrived at the post station. Wen Tao instructed his men to rest there for the night and continue their journey the next morning.
Upon entering the room, Wen Tao was about to remove his armor and wash up when he heard someone in the post station shout, "Imperial edict! Wen Tao, receive the edict!"
Wen Tao quickly tidied himself up and came down to receive the imperial decree. The eunuch delivering the decree walked towards Wen Tao, took out the imperial decree from his robes, and handed it to him: "Your Highness, His Majesty has issued a secret decree this time. You will read it by yourself, and I will not read it aloud."
Wen Tao hurriedly accepted the imperial edict and thanked the eunuch, saying, "Please go to your room and rest, sir."
"I have other matters to attend to, so I will not linger any longer." With that, the father-in-law rode away.
Wen Tao hurried to the room and opened the imperial edict: "My dear minister, the court has received a secret report that the northern border has been rather unsettled recently. Today, I order you to go there, firstly to appease the border people, and secondly to take the opportunity to find out if the Northern Dynasty has any intention of invading our borders." After reading it, Wen Tao burned the imperial edict.
Wen Tao sat down and pondered for a long time. The northern frontier was no longer peaceful. It seemed that His Majesty had noticed something. This trip would definitely be a difficult task.
That day, after finishing her training, Li Wei felt bored, so she quietly went down to the mountainside to find Wen Fei.
Wenfei and Changsheng were chased by Ji Wuchang until they were panting heavily. Changsheng had collapsed to the ground from exhaustion, while Wenfei was still struggling to keep running. Before long, Ji Wuchang brought them back, one in each hand.
"Master, we can't practice like this anymore, it's too boring. Could you teach us some martial arts?" Wenfei said.
"It's still early. I'll talk to you after you've run past me. Go cook, I'm hungry," Ji Wuchang said.
"Master!" Wenfei still wanted to try.
"Alright, young master, let's go cook." Changsheng pulled Wenfei to cook.
"Chang Sheng, if we keep practicing like this every day, when will it ever end?" Wen Fei said.
"You need to eat to have the energy to train," Changsheng said.
"All you ever think about is eating!" Wenfei said angrily.
"I thought you were practicing some kind of unparalleled martial arts here, but it turns out you guys are just playing a game of chasing each other all day!" Li Wei mocked.
"Tomboy, what are you doing here? You're not welcome here!" Wen Fei said angrily.
“Every blade of grass and every tree here belongs to Wenxian Pavilion, brother,” Li Wei said.
"So what if it belongs to Wenxian Pavilion? It's still the territory of my Great Lu Kingdom, not your Li family's private land. What are you so arrogant about?" Wen Fei said bluntly.
“You’ve become quite the smooth talker these past few days. I underestimated you,” Li Wei said.
"Who do you think you are, stop trying to take advantage of me?" Wenfei said.
“I’m not going to take advantage of you. I’m here today to test my skills against you,” Li Wei said.
“That’s not fair. My young master hasn’t even learned kung fu yet. What does he have to offer you for a competition?” Changsheng said.
"What are you doing here if you haven't learned any kung fu? Get out of here!" Li Wei said deliberately.
"Let's have a match then, who's afraid of who?" Wen Fei was also getting into it. He immediately got into a fighting stance, ready to take on Li Wei.
"I admire your courage, bring it on," Li Wei urged.
Wen Fei yelled and rushed towards Li Wei. He desperately needed to vent his emotions, otherwise he would feel suffocated. He didn't care whether he could win or not, he just wanted to fight first.
Seeing Wen Fei rushing towards her so frantically, Li Wei seemed to be provoked. She quickly dodged, and Wen Fei stumbled. He then turned and charged at Li Wei. Seeing him acting like a madman, Li Wei stretched out her palm and pushed Wen Fei hard, knocking him to the ground.
"Wenfei, are you crazy?" Li Wei said.
“I’m crazy, so what?” Wenfei said.
Li Wei flew over and kicked Wen Fei a full ten feet away, angrily saying, "Who are you to call your father?"
"Whoever speaks up gets to claim it," Wenfei retorted, unconvinced.
"You bastard! I'll chop you up!" Li Wei said, drawing her sword and slashing at Wen Fei.
Just as the sword was about to strike Wen Fei, Ji Wuchang, squinting, flicked it lightly with his hand, causing Li Wei's sword to fall to the ground. Li Wei looked at Ji Wuchang and saw him with his eyes narrowed.
"Grandmaster Uncle, you're being biased! Why are you helping him?" Li Wei said with dissatisfaction.
“He’s still my disciple. If you kill him, who will I teach?” Ji Wuchang said.
"Grandmaster Uncle, Grandpa is determined to let him go, but you want to keep him here. What are you two up to?" Li Wei asked, puzzled.
“I don’t care what your grandfather does, but it has been my wish for many years to have a suitable disciple. I’ve waited so many years, and now you’re going to kill him, that’s not good,” Ji Wuchang said.
"Is he really that much to your liking? He's as stupid as a pig," Li Wei said.
“You’re the pig, your whole family are pigs,” Wenfei shouted angrily.
"I'll kill you!" Li Wei leaped to Wen Fei's side and slashed at him with his palm. Wen Fei closed his eyes.
A gust of wind blew past, and Li Wei had already fallen to the ground.
“Girl! I told you, you can’t kill him.” Ji Wuchang withdrew his hand.
"Grandmaster Uncle! He's driving me crazy, and you're not even doing anything about it," Li Wei said, feeling wronged.
"Isn't this just flirting between you young people? It's none of my business," Ji Wuchang said calmly.
"I'm not even familiar with him, who would flirt with him? Grandmaster Uncle, don't talk nonsense!" Li Wei retorted.
"How is your grandfather?" Ji Wuchang asked.
"He's doing very well, no need for Grandmaster Uncle to worry." Li Wei rolled his eyes at Ji Wuchang with dissatisfaction.
“Go back, girl! You should come here less often, lest Li Chaoyang find something on me and make this old man pack his bags and get out of here,” Ji Wuchang said.
"Before I leave, I want to make this clear: it wasn't my idea for your father to find this place. I, Li Wei, am unreasonable and I would never betray a friend. No, we're not friends, but I won't betray you on our terms." After saying this, Li Wei left.
“Young master, it was I who brought the prince and the others to find you,” Changsheng said.
“I know,” Wenfei said.
"Are you still angry, young master?" Changsheng asked in a low voice.
"Much better," Wenfei said.
"Hurry up and cook! This old man is starving!" Ji Wuchang shouted.
Li Wei returned to the mountain, where Li Chaoyang was waiting for her in her pavilion.
“Grandpa, you’ve come,” Li Wei said.
"Did you go to find Wenfei? Is he alright?" Li Chaoyang asked.
“Grandpa, why don’t you go see for yourself? Maybe your junior brother misses you,” Li Wei said.
"You've come back with a belly full of anger, kid. Is that old bastard Ji Wuchang getting tired of staying here and wants to move? Tomorrow I'll have someone kick him off the mountain," Li Chaoyang said, deliberately feigning anger.
"Grandpa, please don't! They didn't say anything bad about you, and they even asked me to bring this to you," Li Wei said hurriedly.
"Then who are you angry at?" Li Chaoyang asked.
"It's all because of that bastard Wenfei. I really want to chop him in half with one palm," Li Wei said angrily.
“If he makes my precious granddaughter angry, I’ll send someone over and chop him up,” Li Chaoyang said.
"Grandpa!" Li Wei called out in a spoiled tone, "Grandpa, you've always known that Wenfei is with Grandmaster Uncle, right?" Li Wei only remembered to ask now.
“No blade of grass or tree on this horizon can escape my eyes, Li Chaoyang,” Li Chaoyang said.
"That's what my grandmaster uncle said about you too," Li Wei said.
"Hahaha! Junior brother understands me best!" Li Chaoyang laughed loudly. "Just don't go looking for Wenfei anymore. You should stay on the mountain and practice your skills."
"Grandpa!" Li Wei watched Li Chaoyang leave with dissatisfaction.
