The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 31 Show Me How It Is

When Wen Tao sent someone to find Chang Sheng, Chang Sheng was like a madman, his hair was messy and he looked much more haggard. He had been searching for Wen Fei alone in the mountains for the past few days, determined to succeed or die trying.

When Changsheng saw Wentao, he rushed over and cried, "Your Highness, it's all my fault for being incompetent and failing to take good care of the Fourth Young Master. I lost him."

Wen Tao simply patted Chang Sheng on the shoulder without saying a word.

Changsheng led Wentao and his group to the place where Wenfei fell off the cliff: "Your Highness, the Fourth Young Master fell from here."

Wen Tao glanced at it and ordered his men, "Bring the rope and go down to take a look."

Soon, several soldiers went down the rope and quickly found the cave. Wen Tao and the others followed. They passed through the cave smoothly and found Ji Wuchang's house.

When Wen Tao found Wen Fei, Wen Fei was practicing martial arts under Ji Wuchang's supervision. He was stunned when he saw Wen Tao.

Wen Tao circled around Wen Fei and said, "You've been living quite the carefree life these past few days!"

"Father, you finally found me." Wenfei said, feigning composure.

Wen Tao looked at Ji Wuchang, who was sitting to the side, and bowed, saying, "May I ask how this senior is addressed?"

Ji Wuchang squinted and said, "I am just a farmer in the mountains."

Wen Tao smiled and said, "Senior seems to be a reclusive master. Otherwise, how could he live under Wangtianya? Otherwise, given Elder Li's temperament, he would not allow others to live on the same mountain with him."

“You still don’t understand Li Chaoyang,” Ji Wuchang said.

"What kind of person is Elder Li in the eyes of the senior?"

Wen Tao said.

"You don't need to know." Ji Wuchang was too lazy to open his eyes and look at him.

“It seems my son has been bothering you for quite some time, senior. It’s time for him to leave,” Wen Tao said.

"Father, I won't leave. I want to stay here with Master," Wenfei said anxiously.

"You have to come back with me today, or I'll break your legs." Wen Tao's anger flared up instantly.

“The world is vast, and Li Chaoyang is not the only one who can be a teacher to the world,” Wen Fei said boldly.

"You unfilial son, if you dare to spout nonsense again, I'll cripple you!" Wen Tao's anger flared even more.

“In matters of the world, one should not force people to do things against their will. Since he is unwilling to follow Li Chaoyang, he can stay with me,” Ji Wuchang said.

"I'm going to get you out of here today! Kidnap Wenfei!" Wen Tao said, waving his hand at his men.

The soldiers swarmed forward, and Wenfei thought to himself, "It's all over!" He cried out, "Master, save me!"

Ji Wuchang leaped forward and blocked Wen Fei's path: "I said that since he doesn't want to leave, he should stay."

"Anyone who blocks my way, tie them up!" Wen Tao shouted.

The soldiers formed ranks, ready to attack. Ji Wuchang, using his nimble footwork, unleashed a strike, and the soldiers instantly fell to the ground. Wen Tao, seeing the fallen soldiers, roared in fury, "Useless!" and charged towards Ji Wuchang.

Ji Wuchang leaned slightly, and Wen Tao fell flat on his face. He scrambled to his feet and charged again, but Ji Wuchang easily blocked him with his hand and knocked him to the ground.

Wen Tao wanted to rush forward again, but Wen Fei stopped him: "Dad! That's enough! You can go now!"

"If it weren't for you, you bastard, would I be in such a sorry state today?" Wen Tao held his sword, wishing he could chop Wen Fei in half.

With a clang, Wen Tao's sword was knocked away by Ji Wuchang. Wen Tao looked at Ji Wuchang and said, "Senior is indeed no ordinary person. I admire you!"

"You may leave now. I need some peace and quiet," Ji Wuchang said, dismissing them.

"Wenfei, you'd better learn something from me." After saying that, Wentao turned and left with the others.

Wen Fei watched Wen Tao leave, feeling uneasy. He looked at Ji Wuchang.

"Go." Ji Wuchang narrowed his eyes again.

Wenfei quickly caught up with Wentao and shouted, "Dad! I have something to ask you."

Wen Tao stopped in his tracks and asked without turning his head, "Go ahead and ask."

"I want to know about my mother," Wenfei said timidly.

“You’re not allowed to mention your mother; that’s our family rule,” Wentao said.

“I’ve already stepped into the world of martial arts, and I don’t know what will happen next. I just want to know what kind of person my mother is. Can’t even my father grant me this simple request?” Wenfei said.

"To hell with the martial world, I hate it. Anyone who dares to mess with my son, Wentao, is doomed. Live well, kid, your father is gone." Wentao felt uncomfortable.

"Father! Father!" Wenfei called out.

"If you want to know about your mother, go to Wenxian Pavilion and find Li Chaoyang. He knows more than your father. You'd better watch yourself!" Wen Tao said, disappearing into the vast forest.

Disappointed, Wen Fei returned to Ji Wuchang's side, his feelings complicated, and he didn't want to say a word.

"Is Wenjun your grandfather?" Ji Wuchang asked.

"Yes, Master knows him?" Wenfei asked.

“We are from the same era. Back then, in the Battle of Nanshan, if it weren’t for your grandfather’s intervention, Li Chaoyang and I would have turned into dust long ago. I heard that Wenjun has a good-for-nothing son,” Ji Wuchang said.

"Master, it's that guy from earlier, my dad," Wenfei said shyly.

“I already knew that. Actually, your father wasn’t that bad. Back then, he was a young hero who went on a mission to the Western Regions at a young age,” Ji Wuchang said.

“Master, do you know our family well? Have you heard about my mother?” Wenfei asked.

"I'm afraid you'll be disappointed, but I really don't know," Ji Wuchang said.

“From childhood to adulthood, whenever my mother is mentioned, it’s like touching my father’s sore spot. My mother is a taboo in my family,” Wenfei said sadly.

“Some things aren’t as bad as you think. With time, things will become clear,” Ji Wuchang comforted him.

"Master, I feel terrible." Wenfei said, burying his face in Ji Wuchang's arms and crying.

Ji Wuchang was taken aback by this sudden tenderness. No one had ever cried in his arms before. He felt that he should pat Wenfei to comfort him, and that's what he thought and did.

Wen Tao went to Wenxian Pavilion again and met Li Chaoyang. The two of them talked for a long time in Li Chaoyang's upper room. No one knows what they talked about. In the end, all that was seen was Wen Tao happily coming down from the upper room.

Before leaving, Wen Tao asked Chang Sheng to stay and take care of Wen Fei. When Chang Sheng saw Wen Fei, he threw himself on Wen Fei and burst into tears. The grievances of the past few days welled up in his heart, and he cried on Wen Fei's body for a long time.

"Chang Sheng, don't cry, I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?" Wen Fei comforted him.

"As long as Fourth Young Master is alright, Changsheng is at ease," Changsheng said, sobbing.

"Chang Sheng, from now on, let's practice together with our master properly," Wen Fei said.

"Yes! Fourth Young Master!" Changsheng said, wiping away his tears.

“Okay, but when it comes to cooking in the future…” Ji Wuchang narrowed his eyes again.

“No problem, Master, Changsheng and I will do it together,” Wenfei said happily.

“I can do it myself, Fourth Young Master,” Changsheng said.

“Chang Sheng, once we leave the palace, we are equals. From now on, we will work together and practice martial arts together,” Wen Fei said.

“Let’s do it together!” Changsheng chimed in.

"Still young!" Ji Wuchang thought to himself with delight.
