The Primordial Mosquito Dao Chronicle
Chapter 78 Xuandu Becomes a Disciple
"Go, do as instructed." Kongtong waved his hand, offering no explanation, and sent the three away to spread the decree. He knew all too well the harm caused by the Western Religion; their doctrines included not only various precepts, but also a sophisticated method of brainwashing.
If humanity were to join the Western Religion, they would be willing to oppose the East without hesitation in the future. While the doctrines of the Western Religion have their merits, they are not yet suitable for the currently weak human race.
Humanity has not yet reached its peak. If they were to exploit this opportunity and convert humans to the West, the spread would be terrifying, and such a situation must be prevented. That is why there is the saying that one cannot participate in human affairs. He believes that the current human race is still very loyal to its own race.
Kongtong's move is tantamount to saying that if you join the Western Religion, they will not recognize you as human. Once this decree is issued, those who aspire to join the Western Religion will surely know how to choose. Furthermore, if one wishes to explore the path of immortality, choosing the Three Pure Ones is far better than choosing the two Western beings.
Furthermore, if they go to the West, humanity's fortune will truly be lost. They will be focused on revitalizing the West, and won't consider the future strength of humanity. However, if they study Taoism with the Three Pure Ones, even the lost fortune now will benefit humanity upon their return after mastering their skills. As humanity prospers, its fortune will also increase.
On Mount Kunlun, the Three Pure Ones sit in their cave dwellings.
Seeing the two below still arguing, Laozi felt a headache coming on and said helplessly, "Second brother, third brother, I wish to go to the prehistoric world to find a place to settle my 'Human Sect'. I wonder what your plans are?"
"Brother, why is this?" Yuanshi and Tongtian were arguing about taking on disciples. They were both puzzled when they heard Laozi suddenly have this idea.
The Three Pure Ones all attained sainthood by establishing their own religions. As a religion, it was natural to recruit disciples and pass on their teachings. Yuanshi believed that accepting disciples was no trivial matter, and the three of them, who considered themselves descendants of Pangu, were always proud of it. Moreover, he had always looked down on the demon race and did not want to accept some creatures with fur and armor, which would bring shame upon the Three Pure Ones.
As the master of the Chan Sect, Yuanshi established two rules: those with poor aptitude would not be accepted, nor would those born from moisture or eggs. However, Tongtian's Jie Sect doctrine aimed to secure a lifeline for all living beings in the primordial world. In his view, as long as one possessed a heart yearning for the Dao, the door should be opened wide for them. This is why the two disagreed and argued endlessly.
People are flocking to Kunlun Mountain to become disciples, and many have already gathered at the foot of the mountain to join them. The Three Pure Ones have noticed this, but due to their differing doctrines, they have been unable to reach an agreement.
"After attaining enlightenment, I felt that the fortune of Kunlun Mountain was insufficient to support three sages, hence this statement. You two may discuss your own allegiance here." With that, Laozi left the cave and rode a cloud southwestward without waiting for their response.
Lao Tzu sensed a connection to a place in the primordial wilderness, and so he headed in that direction. Upon reaching a mountain peak, he saw a panoramic view of Lotus Peak, surrounded by nine other peaks. Clouds and mist billowed, like ribbons of white silk drifting from the vast mountains, shimmering with a delicate golden hue. It was like a fairyland on earth.
Lao Tzu was quite satisfied with the view before him. The main reason was that this mountain had not yet been occupied by anyone, and with such an unusual phenomenon, there must be something extraordinary about it. He then stopped thinking about it and descended.
However, as soon as he landed, he saw a young man meditating and cultivating. Moreover, he was cultivating the Golden Core Dao that he himself had taught. Laozi could tell that the other party was not old, but his cultivation had already reached the Golden Immortal realm, which made him very curious, wondering why the other party was hiding here alone to cultivate.
The young man saw a figure descending from the sky, and he couldn't sense the other person's cultivation level. He knew that even if the person wasn't a powerful figure, they were certainly beyond his ability to contend with. He quickly stepped forward, clasped his hands in greeting, and asked, "I wonder if the Great Immortal has arrived with any instructions?"
Laozi noticed that the other party's cultivation level wasn't high, but he didn't seem as nervous as others when they saw him. Moreover, he spoke neither humbly nor arrogantly, as if he didn't care about anything else, which immediately piqued Laozi's interest.
"What's your name? Why are you cultivating here all alone?" After saying that, he looked around and found that the other person was also cultivating here temporarily and had no intention of taking over this place.
“My name is Xuandu. I am a human cultivator. Feeling that my clan was noisy, I came out alone to find a place to cultivate. I came across this place by chance and saw that the spiritual energy was overwhelming, so I often come here to cultivate.” Xuandu did not expect to take over this place, but he also knew that his cultivation was limited.
The powerful beings of the primordial era would discover such a treasure land sooner or later, so he adopted the mindset of cultivating one day at a time. He always came here during his seclusion, never expecting that someone would actually come today. Judging from the other person's expression, they seemed to be very interested in this place as well, and immediately began to tell him about their experiences.
Lao Tzu founded the Humanistic Teachings, which emphasizes the Way of Non-Action and the natural order of things. Although he wasn't particularly concerned with the traditions of the sect, he felt it was fate that they had met. Moreover, the other party possessed such a temperament and knew that cultivating the Golden Elixir was very fast, so he had the idea of taking him as a disciple.
"I am Laozi, the Supreme Pure One of the Three Pure Ones, and I also founded the Human Teachings. Today, you and I are destined to meet. Would you be willing to become my disciple?" Since the other party had this idea and met his requirements for accepting disciples, Laozi naturally stopped teasing him and immediately revealed his identity.
Xuan Du was greatly surprised upon hearing this. Although he had already guessed that the other party was extraordinary, he never expected that the person was the leader of the Three Pure Ones. Taiqing Laozi was a sage. He himself had heard him preach from afar, and now most of the human race practiced the Taoist methods he had passed down.
Now that he had encountered him again, and that the master was even willing to take him on as a disciple, he was naturally overjoyed and immediately knelt down and kowtowed, "Disciple Xuandu greets Master."
After Xuandu finished his greetings, Laozi quickly helped him up. He was extremely pleased, thinking that he had originally come to find a place to establish his sect, but had unexpectedly taken on a disciple, and that this disciple was quite suitable to pass on his teachings. Afterwards, he looked around and said, "Xuandu, you've stayed here before, do you know of anything unusual about this mountain?"
"This disciple has never explored the depths of this place. I only know that this mountain is called 'Shouyang Mountain' and that it was created not long ago. I know nothing else." With his Xuandu cultivation level, he had never actually examined it. At the time, he thought that this place would be occupied by others sooner or later, so he gave up on understanding this place.
Hearing his disciple's words, Laozi performed some calculations and his eyes lit up. "I never imagined this mountain appeared at the very moment I became a saint. No wonder I sensed it; it seems I truly have a connection with it."
With this in mind, Laozi and Xuandu settled down there. He didn't plan to return to Kunlun Mountain. So many people were coming to seek apprenticeship there; for someone like him who preferred tranquility, cultivation there wasn't really suitable. Besides, Kunlun couldn't accommodate three sages.
