Rod followed behind Lu Xuan, listening to Lu Xuan's forced, business-like voice as he introduced the ordinary town before him.

But in this ordinary, utterly ordinary town, Rhodes witnessed a scene he had never seen before in the Kingdom of Light. Even though it was night, the entire town was brightly lit, people sat chatting and laughing in roadside teahouses and taverns, their faces beaming with happiness, and the sounds of the streets filled the air. Moreover, although the town's environment couldn't compare to the capital city of Holy Light, he didn't see a single beggar hiding in its shadows—something beyond Rhodes's comprehension.

Because in Rhodes’ view, those beggars were like the dark side of the country, existing in every corner of the country. Even in the Holy City, there were beggars in the corners of its sacred and solemn church. But in this town called Carlos, although there were no magnificent buildings or impressive things, there were no beggars or slum-like buildings on its streets.

Rhodes was about to ask Lu Xuan these questions, but then he changed his mind and swallowed back the words he was about to ask. He suddenly wanted to observe the town of Carlos with his own eyes and see the country that the priests called a raging flood.

Carlos town wasn't very big, and Lu Xuan quickly led Rod around the town.
