For the Daniels, winning an item at an auction through normal procedures was no difficult task, especially since Stella had provided ample funds.

Daniel's family hadn't intended to accept the money, but Stella's letter stated that elves and fairies never mistreat their friends.

With that remark from her, Daniel happily accepted the money, but also reminded Daniel to make sure to maintain this relationship.

But while they're happy, others are unhappy.

Inside a private box at the auction, someone asked anxiously, "Hasn't Robert arrived yet?"

“We haven’t seen him,” his butler asked. “Sir, could it be that our men failed to get the message to Robert?”

“Impossible,” the old man said. “Others might pass through other races, but that little fairy came out with the Elf King two months ago. She’s already gone back, so she can definitely deliver the message.”

"Robert hasn't come yet. Either the Elf Forest hasn't been unsealed and he can't come out, or he already has a replacement gem and this one is no longer important to him."

The butler frowned and looked down: "Then what should we do now, sir? The gems are about to be delivered."

"If Robert simply can't get out, wouldn't we lose a crucial asset?"

The old man shook his head: "What's the big deal? We can just buy it back through normal channels. It's just a gemstone. As long as we offer a high enough price, it's just a matter of moving it from one hand to the other."

"By paying some taxes, we can use that to curry favor with Robert once he leaves the Elf Forest."

The butler gave a thumbs up: "Master is indeed clever."

They had already made their plans, but unexpectedly, someone actually raised the price to compete with them.

The old man frowned and ordered someone to investigate who it was.

The butler went out for a while and came back to say, "It's Eugene's grandson, the Marquis Eugene Jr., who shares the same name as him, bidding with his son Daniel."

The old man, who was about to raise his placard again, suddenly stopped: "Why did they suddenly take a liking to this gem?"

The butler said, "Isn't Daniel engaged to the princess of the Xuean Empire? Since their agreement didn't come to fruition, no one can say for sure whether this marriage will happen. Perhaps he wants to take a picture and give it to the princess to show his affection."

“That’s alright,” the master said. “When they want to find someone to make something, they can have our people apply and exchange them for something else, and they’ll even make an extra profit.”

Although Daniel and the Marquis Eugene Jr. spent a slightly over-budget amount to win the jewel, they still managed to achieve a decent result.

Before they even left with their things, the largest local gem merchant came out to congratulate them, praising the quality of the gems and offering to take on carving work.

Marquis Eugene the Younger smiled and shook his head. Seeing that the crowd had not yet dispersed, he deliberately raised his voice and said, "We don't have the final say on this matter. We bid for this gem on behalf of someone else."

A person standing nearby, holding their hands, asked, "Oh, who is it that has troubled His Excellency the Marquis?"

“She’s the Elf King’s favorite little fairy,” Marquis Eugene said proudly, patting Daniel on the shoulder. “Daniel is friends with her and was asked by her to help him bid for this gem, saying it was a gift for Master Robert.”

"Master Robert! Is it that Master Robert of the Elf race?" someone exclaimed. "Then there's no need for anyone else to handle it. Master Robert is the most outstanding design master of this century. Who can be better than him?"

The merchant who took the initiative to ask questions almost lost his composure, and it was only when his butler supported him and pinched his arm hard that he calmed down.

Little did they know, their actions were all observed by little Daniel.

When Daniel got home, he immediately told his father about it.

Marquis Eugene Jr. may have limited talent in magical advancement, but he is very astute in scheming and plotting. If it weren't for Rafa's sudden rise to power, Erwin, whom he supported, would certainly have succeeded in taking the throne.

"Didn't Stella say in her letter to you that she learned about this when she was buying jewelry, and because Robert couldn't come out, she had to reluctantly give up the gem, so she asked you to help her find out?"

Marquis Eugene Jr. squinted: "I'm afraid this is a trap set for Robert."

“Robert is a recluse and rarely interacts with people, so they never thought that we would eventually send this gem to the elves.”

Daniel frowned slightly, then quickly relaxed his gaze: "Anyway, the gems are definitely going to be sent to Stella. They're just merchants; they can't possibly cause us any trouble. But should we send someone to inquire about this matter?"

Marquis Eugene nodded: "Although he is a jeweler, it is an undeniable fact that he is plotting against the elves. Let's investigate thoroughly, and it will also be a good opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities to the elves."

"In this world, only the useless will be eliminated. As long as we maintain our friendship with the elves, once the princess marries you and you develop feelings for each other, our family will not have to worry about declining in the short term."

“In your letter to Stella, remember to write this…”

Stella received Daniel's letter, first gave the jewel to Damian, and then sought out Robert alone.

After reading the letter, Robert sneered, "The old man is dead, and the young man starts having other schemes. Does he really think I'm some kind of saint?"

Stella pretended not to hear: "Anyway, Robert, you should take care of yourself. Even if you're just in a bad mood, Damian will be very worried."

“I understand,” Robert’s expression softened. “Thank you, Stella, but don’t worry, I won’t do anything to make Damian worry.”

As he spoke, he muttered under his breath, "I wonder who is the real light elf, Damian or Lucas. Damian is so cute, but Lucas is like a little devil."

Stella covered her ears with both hands: "I didn't hear anything."

Robert snapped out of his daze, somewhat helplessly, and took out two brooches that he didn't know when they were made, handing them to Stella.

“Since you’ve decided to use the Eugene family line, there has to be a give and take. Find an opportunity to give this to Daniel and say it’s a gift from me to him and the princess.”

Stella put the brooch into her storage ring: "Then I'll give it to them at Daniel's engagement ceremony. Otherwise, with their family's influence, once this brooch is given away, it will become irrefutable proof that the elves are helping to bring about Daniel's marriage to the princess."

Whether they can become a couple depends on their feelings and abilities; it's not appropriate for us to get involved.

Seeing that Stella had made up her mind, a hint of appreciation flashed in Robert's eyes, and he beckoned her to come and see the few new things he had made.

Of course, what was presented to Stella was not something the other elves liked; it was about themes of decay and darkness.

Stella liked some of these things and disliked others, but she didn't hide it and could even offer her own opinions on them.

As the conversation progressed, Stella gained inspiration for the gemstone she wanted to design for Savison, and began sketching with the paper and pen Robert had on hand.

Savison loved shiny things, so this gold crystal naturally had to be matched with gold.
