Chapter Thirty-Four: Illegal Trespassing

When Mo Zhen walked into the study, he saw Leng Yuling sitting at the desk looking at medical books without any regard for her image. She did look serious, but her cross-legged sitting posture was really hard to bear.

He walked step by step to Leng Yuling's side, following her gaze. It was indeed a medical book, and one that he couldn't understand.

Seeing how engrossed Leng Yuling was, he finally realized that Leng Yuling was indeed the disciple of the Medical Sage.

He had always assumed that Leng Yuling was simply using the title of the Medical Sage's disciple to move around, but he seemed to have forgotten that only a few people knew that Leng Yuling was the Medical Sage's disciple.

Even Leng Yuling's father, Prime Minister Leng, did not know that she was a disciple of the Medical Sage, nor did he know that she was skilled in medicine.

"I thought Ruikang was joking, but I didn't expect you to actually be reading medical books." After an unknown amount of time, Mo Zhen finally spoke, which startled Leng Yuling.

She shuddered, instinctively looking in the direction of the sound, and blurted out, "Are you crazy? Can't you knock before coming in? Don't you make any noise when you walk?"

Upon hearing Leng Yuling's words, Mo Zhen's face darkened instantly. Sure enough, every time he spoke to Leng Yuling, he was always angered by her.

"Does the Emperor need to knock before entering? I've never heard of that!"

Leng Yuling naturally understood what Mo Zhen meant; it was nothing more than, "The world is vast, but all things are dust." However, she was indeed not used to being disturbed while reading.

“I know you are the emperor, I know you have great power, and I know every inch of land in this Southern Chu Kingdom belongs to you, but—” Leng Yuling abruptly changed the subject, her tone turning cold, “Now that I live here, this is my home. You need my permission to come in, otherwise…”

Before Leng Yuling could finish speaking, Mo Zhen interrupted her, his tone hardening as he retorted, "Otherwise what?"

"Otherwise I'll sue you for trespassing!" Leng Yuling used the same words she had used in her previous life, but unfortunately, Mo Zhen couldn't understand them at all.

Considering that she and Mo Zhen were legally married, and that his actions didn't exactly constitute trespassing, Leng Yuling changed the subject: "What are you doing here?"

"Can't I come to see you?" Mo Zhen retorted.

This question left Leng Yuling bewildered. She didn't think Mo Zhen needed to come see her; after all, their relationship was merely nominal, a complete lie.

"I heard you've been reading medical books lately?" Leng Yuling didn't speak, so Mo Zhen continued to ask.

Only then did Leng Yuling subconsciously close all the medical books in her hands, worried that something might happen to Mo Zhen. After a moment's thought, she said, "Because your Southern Chu palace is too boring, and I can't go out to play, if I don't read books, what else do you think I can do?"

Every word Leng Yuling said was correct, and Mo Zhen couldn't help but frown. He stared at Leng Yuling, as if trying to see any trace of lying on her face, but he found nothing.

"Do you feel that I've neglected you?"

"No, no, no." Leng Yuling said "no" three times in a row before continuing to explain, "It doesn't matter if you ignore me or not, but could you please not restrict my activities?"

As the empress, she could only move freely within the palace. Whenever she brought up the topic of leaving the palace, she was always interrupted by Ziyan and shot with sharp eyes by Rong Momo.
