Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 81 Breaking Through the Predicament, Initial Display of Strength
After Su Yao left, I pondered her words repeatedly. She always managed to pinpoint my problems, and I truly needed to change. Zhou's disruptive behavior continued, the classroom atmosphere worsened, and my lectures seemed to sink without a trace, failing to make a ripple. I even began to doubt myself, wondering if I was truly unsuitable for teaching. Filled with doubt and frustration, I locked myself in the college library.
In the vast sea of books, I tried to find an answer to my current predicament. Each thick classic and each line of elegant writing seemed to mock my powerlessness.
"Are you studying teaching methods again?"
A slightly hoarse voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked up and saw Administrator Li standing beside me, his deep eyes gleaming with wisdom.
I nodded and sighed helplessly.
“Class discipline has been very poor lately, and I really don’t know what to do.”
After a moment of contemplation, Li, the administrator, stroked his sparse beard and slowly said, "Perhaps you could try a different approach."
"Another way?"
I looked at him with suspicion, hoping to get some guidance from him.
"for example……"
Administrator Li smiled mysteriously, "Private tutoring."
Those four words were like a bolt of lightning, instantly cleaving through the clouds of confusion in my heart. I stood up abruptly, a feeling of sudden enlightenment washing over me.
Yes, why should I be confined to the classroom? Private tutoring allows me to provide more targeted guidance to students and avoids interference from Zhou.
"Thank you, I understand!"
I excitedly thanked Administrator Li and then eagerly returned to the classroom. I announced that I would provide private tutoring for interested students after class.
The moment the words left my mouth, the classroom erupted in chatter. Students whispered amongst themselves, a flurry of discussion filling the air. Zhou, in particular, wore a surprised expression; she clearly hadn't expected me to come up with such a surprising idea.
The news spread quickly, and soon Professor Qian and his colleague Wu arrived. They stood at the classroom door, scrutinizing me with suspicious eyes.
Professor Qian pushed up his glasses, his tone tinged with accusation: "Professor Nong Yu, what do you mean by this? Does our college's regular classes not compare to your private tutoring?"
I looked at them, a faint smile playing on my lips.
“I just want to help students who are truly eager to learn, and that doesn’t conflict with the college’s regular classes.”
In the days that followed, I began to use my spare time to provide private tutoring for some students.
Zhang, a student from a poor family but a diligent student, became my focus.
Based on his situation, I developed a customized training plan and patiently guided him to master beast-taming skills. My efforts paid off.
In just a few weeks, Zhang and several other students who received my tutoring showed significant improvement in their beast-taming abilities.
During a training session, Zhang skillfully applied the techniques I taught him, coordinating perfectly with his tamed beast, demonstrating astonishing strength and drawing gasps of amazement from the surrounding students.
Seeing the smiles on their faces, I felt incredibly gratified.
However, this was just the beginning... I noticed that Zhou, who was standing in the crowd, had a terribly gloomy face.
She stared intently at me and Zhang, her eyes filled with resentment. I had a feeling that a new storm was about to break.
I walked up to Zhang, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "That's enough for today. Go back and get some rest."
Zhang smiled shyly, his eyes shining with gratitude: "Thank you, Teacher Nong!"
He led his rock-armored beast, which was noticeably much larger than before, away from the training ground, turning back every few steps. Watching his retreating figure, I felt a surge of accomplishment.
However, this joy did not last long. Zhou walked up to me with a gloomy face and said in a sarcastic tone, "Oh, Teacher Nong, it seems you really are 'tireless in teaching,' taking special care of some students."
I frowned, not wanting to pay attention to her provocation.
Stop pretending you're deaf and dumb!
Zhou raised his voice, his tone filled with malice, "Everyone's talking about how you favor certain students and only offer private tutoring to a select few. So, did some people give you particularly valuable gifts?"
Her voice was loud, and the students around her stopped training and looked at us curiously.
A surge of anger welled up inside me, and I was about to retort when I heard my colleague Wu's sarcastic voice: "Hey, Zhou, you're wrong to say that. Professor Nong works so hard to tutor students, isn't it all for the honor of our college? It's just that his teaching methods seem a bit unconventional, and Professor Qian has quite a few complaints about them."
As he spoke, he let out a feigned sigh, his eyes filled with schadenfreude. I knew that Professor Qian had instructed him to put pressure on me.
I took a deep breath and tried to suppress the anger in my heart.
"I did this simply to help students who truly need help. As for whether it's in accordance with the rules, I believe the college will make its own judgment."
After saying that, I turned around and prepared to leave.
"Nong Yu!"
A clear voice called out to me. I turned around and saw Su Yao. She walked up to me, her gaze sweeping over Zhou and Wu, a hint of coldness in her eyes.
Then, she suddenly stood on tiptoe and gently kissed my cheek.
"With your hard work, you're sure to succeed."
She spoke softly, her tone gentle yet firm. My face instantly flushed red, and my heart began to race.
The surrounding students gasped in surprise, and Zhou's face turned extremely pale. I stood there, stunned, unsure how to react.
Su Yao smiled at me, then left without looking back. I stroked my cheek where she had kissed me, my heart filled with mixed emotions.
Her actions not only gave me tremendous encouragement, but also made me more aware of the predicament I was facing.
Rumors have started to spread, and I must find a way to deal with them as soon as possible, otherwise my teaching will become even more difficult.
That evening, I sat alone in my dormitory, repeatedly thinking about what had happened that day.
Zhou's malicious slander, Wu's instigation, Professor Qian's potential pressure, and Su Yao's unexpected actions... all of this is like a tangled mess, entangling my thoughts.
Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.
"Who?"
"It's me, Zhang Xuesheng."
I opened the door and saw Zhang Xuesheng standing outside, holding a package in his hand.
"Teacher Nong, these are pastries made by my mother. She asked me to bring them to you to thank you for your guidance during this time."
As I took the package, a warm feeling welled up inside me.
“Professor Nong,” Zhang hesitated for a moment and said in a low voice, “I…I’ve heard some rumors about you…”
I patted him on the shoulder to let him know not to worry.
"I know, I'll handle it."
Zhang nodded, turned, and left. I closed the door, staring at the package in my hand, lost in thought. I had already heard about the rumors.
Some people say I accepted bribes from students, some say I favor certain students, and some say my teaching methods are completely unorthodox... I walked to the window and looked at the dark night sky outside.
I knew I had to dispel these rumors as soon as possible, otherwise my teaching would be impossible. A thought suddenly flashed through my mind… Tomorrow, I'm going to visit someone.
