Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 8 The Beast Taming Dilemma: The Difficulty of Breaking Free

Xiao Ling's sudden action startled Lin Hu. His outstretched hand froze in mid-air as he looked at Xiao Ling with surprise and uncertainty.

"What is this thing? A mutated squirrel?" I took the opportunity to hug Xiaoling back to my arms and stared at Lin Hu warily.

"Lin Hu, I advise you not to do anything reckless! Xiao Ling is no ordinary squirrel."

Lin Hu snapped out of his daze and scoffed disdainfully, "Hmph, playing tricks! Even if it's some kind of mutated squirrel, it doesn't change the fact that you're a piece of trash! I'm taking this spirit herb today!"

With that, he lunged at me again. My heart sank; I knew this conflict was inevitable.

I held Xiaoling tightly, bracing myself for Lin Hu's attack.

Just then, Xiaoling suddenly broke free from my arms and swallowed the Jade Spirit Grass that I had hidden in the cloth bag.

The Jade Spirit Grass melted instantly in the mouth, and a dazzling green light emanated from Little Spirit's body. Its small body began to swell, and its fur became smoother and softer.

I was overjoyed; it seemed the Jade Spirit Grass really worked! However, the green light quickly disappeared, and Little Spirit's body stopped expanding; it didn't seem to have changed much.

I wondered, was the medicinal effect of the Jade Spirit Grass not enough? Just as I was wondering, Little Spirit suddenly let out a painful cry, its body began to tremble, and its eyes became confused.

I was startled and quickly checked Xiaoling's body, only to find that there was a chaotic energy surging around inside it.

"Xiaoling, what's wrong?" I asked anxiously, but received no response.

This sudden turn of events left me at a loss. I held Xiaoling in my arms, my heart filled with anxiety.

Xiaoling's growth has hit a bottleneck, and I must find a solution as soon as possible!

Over the next few days, I searched everywhere for information about the bottleneck in Beast Taming, hoping to find a way to help Xiaoling break through.

However, my efforts were repeatedly thwarted, and Lin Hu kept creating trouble and interfering with my actions.

"I heard that Nong Yu's beast taming has run into a problem, it seems to be some kind of bottleneck that he can't break through."

"Really? I thought his beast taming was amazing, but it turns out he's just a useless piece of trash."

"I don't think he has any talent for beast taming at all. He must have gotten incredibly lucky to awaken his beast taming ability before."

The rumors spread by Lin Hu spread like a plague within the family, and I could hear these jarring voices wherever I went.

I was furious, but powerless to refute it. I knew that the most important thing now was not to pay attention to these rumors, but to find a way to help Xiaoling break through as soon as possible.

One day, I overheard the witch talking about the bottleneck in beast taming.

I was overjoyed and quickly stepped forward to ask for advice. The old witch glanced at me and said meaningfully, "Each beast has a different bottleneck, and the methods to break through them are naturally different as well. If you want to help your beast break through, you must find a method that suits it."

The witch's words made me think deeply. What, then, is the right method for Xiaoling?

I recalled the scene of fighting wild beasts in the ancient forest. Xiao Ling showed amazing agility and fighting instinct in the battle... Could it be...? I suddenly raised my head, a determined look flashing in my eyes.

"I understand!" The witch's words woke me up, and I kept recalling the scene of fighting wild beasts in the ancient forest.

Little Ling's agile movements, its sharp claw strikes, and the unspoken understanding it showed with me during the battle... I gradually formed an idea in my mind.

Instead of forcibly enhancing Xiao Ling's power with rare treasures, it's better to let it break through its bottleneck in actual combat!

I found a secluded spot and began training Xiao Ling.

I simulated various battle scenarios, allowing Xiaoling to continuously practice dodging, attacking, and defending.

At first, Xiaoling's movements were a bit slow, but as the training progressed, it gradually regained the feeling of fighting in the ancient forest, and its movements became more and more fluid and swift.

I could even feel that the chaotic energy within Xiaoling's body was slowly calming down, and a new power was being nurtured.

"Xiaoling, that's it! Faster! Harder!"

I kept encouraging Xiaoling. My clothes were soaked with sweat, but I didn't feel tired at all. My eyes were full of hope.

I didn't take those rumors, those taunts and doubts to heart at all.

I know that as long as I persevere, Xiaoling will definitely be able to break through the bottleneck and become stronger!

However, my training didn't last long before Lin Hu's annoying voice reappeared.

"Hey, isn't this our good-for-nothing Nong Yu? Still playing with your broken squirrel?"

Lin Hu, with his enormous hunting dog, looked at me with a mocking expression.

I gave him a cold glance and ignored him. My most important task right now is to help Xiaoling break through her bottleneck; I don't have time to waste words on him.

"Hmph, stop pretending to be high and mighty! Today I'll show you what I'm capable of!" Lin Hu was furious and ordered his hunting dogs to pounce on me and Xiao Ling.

"Xiaoling, get out of the way!" I quickly reminded Xiaoling. Although Xiaoling had not yet fully broken through the bottleneck, its speed and reaction ability had already improved significantly.

It nimbly dodged the hound's attack, then, taking advantage of its unpreparedness, leaped onto the hound's back and viciously clawed at the hound's neck.

The hound let out a painful howl and frantically shook its body, trying to throw Xiaoling off.

Xiao Ling held the hunting dog's neck tightly, refusing to let go no matter how much it struggled.

I was overjoyed; Xiao Ling's fighting instincts were indeed amazing!

However, just when I thought Xiaoling was about to break through the bottleneck, the hound suddenly let out a low growl, a black mist rose from its body, and a powerful force burst forth from its body.

I had never seen this power before; it was filled with an aura of evil and destruction, and it sent a chill down my spine.

Xiao Ling was blasted away by the force and crashed heavily to the ground, letting out a painful whimper.

"What is this?!" I was shocked and quickly hugged Xiaoling in my arms.

Lin Hu laughed triumphantly: "Haha, this is my new skill—Shadow Strike! How about it? Doesn't it feel good?"

Shadow Impact... What exactly is this power? Why have I never heard of it before? Little Spirit struggled to stand up, but its body trembled incessantly, and its eyes became confused.

I was extremely anxious. Was Xiaoling's breakthrough about to fail?

Just then, a dazzling light suddenly burst forth from Xiaoling's body... This light was more intense than ever before!

"What...what is this?!" Lin Hu's voice was filled with shock and fear.

I held Xiaoling tightly, feeling the surging power within her...

"Xiao Ling..." I murmured to myself, my heart filled with anticipation...
