The wind whipped up dust, stinging my face. I stood on the city wall, looking down at the dark mass in the distance, surging like a tide, drawing ever closer. The earth trembled slightly—the sound of a charging beast tide. They're coming… I murmured to myself, my heart heavy as lead. On the city wall, all eyes were on me, filled with fear, unease, and above all, doubt.
