Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 61 The Path to Deciphering the Secret: A Turning Point Appears
The treasure behind the stone gate was within reach, but Chen the merchant's men blocked our way, and the air was thick with tension. The burly man's henchmen, each with a menacing expression, brandished gleaming swords, their greedy eyes darting back and forth between us and the stone gate. I felt Su Yao's hand gently rest on my shoulder, a warm feeling spreading through me.
"Trying to steal our stuff? Don't you even know your own limitations!"
Su Yao's voice was clear and firm, carrying an undeniable authority. I gripped the stone tightly in my hand, feeling the energy surging within it.
The fairy said that only with a pure heart could I activate this stone and open the stone door. Could this energy also help us overcome our current difficulties?
"Cut the nonsense!"
The burly man waved his hand impatiently, "Brothers, charge! Kill the men, leave the women alive!"
At his command, his men pounced like hungry wolves. Su Yao sneered, and with a flash, she rushed into the crowd.
She used both fists and feet, each move fierce and ruthless. Her henchmen were like paper in front of her, utterly helpless.
Although I don't have Su Yao's powerful combat abilities, I am not a lamb to be slaughtered.
I took a deep breath and infused my spiritual energy into the stone. The stone emitted a faint golden light, as if it had become one with me.
I felt a powerful force surge through my body, and my speed and strength were greatly enhanced.
I dodged an attack from one of my men, then punched him in the stomach, sending him flying.
I dared not linger in the fight, dodging attacks while carefully observing my surroundings.
The elf said the key to opening the treasure chamber lies in the pattern, and the pattern requires special energy to activate. Could this special energy simply refer to the spiritual power within me?
I suddenly remembered what the elf had said before; when it pointed to the pattern on the stone gate, there seemed to be a hint of cunning in its eyes. Could there be some hidden meaning behind this?
I looked again at the patterns on the stone gate and the surrounding walls, hoping to find some clues.
Just then, I noticed an inconspicuous indentation on the wall, the shape of which was exactly the same as the pattern on the stone door!
Moreover, the location of this indentation perfectly matches the size of the stone in my hand. Could it be...? A thought flashed through my mind, and I immediately pressed the stone into the indentation.
The stone fit perfectly into the recess, making a crisp "click" sound. Then, a hidden door suddenly appeared in the wall and slowly opened.
This sudden change stunned everyone. Chen Fushang's men stopped their attack, staring dumbfounded at the scene before them.
Even Su Yao showed a surprised expression. Behind the hidden door was a deep, dark passage, its destination unknown.
I took a deep breath and said to Su Yao, "Let's go!"
Before we could even take a step, Chen Fushang's men reacted.
"Don't let them get away!"
The burly man shouted and charged toward the hidden door first.
The other subordinates followed closely behind, swarming forward, trying to rush into the secret door... Su Yao and I exchanged a glance, and quickly moved to the front of the secret door, blocking their way.
I held the stone tightly in my hand, and the golden light it emitted became even more dazzling, as if responding to the determination in my heart.
"Want to get in? You'll have to get past us first!"
Su Yao's voice was cold and sharp, like a drawn sword. She stood beside me, leaning slightly towards me, her eyes firm yet tinged with dependence.
"With you here, I'm not afraid of anything."
She spoke softly, in a voice only I could hear. I felt her trust, and my heart warmed. A surge of strength welled up from the depths of my being, dispelling all fear and unease.
I held Su Yao's hand tightly and gave her a firm look.
"Don't worry, I will protect you."
The burly man glared at us menacingly and sneered, "You won't listen to reason, so here we are! Brothers, get them! Take care of these two, and the treasure is ours!"
Her men swarmed forward again, swords flashing and blades gleaming. Su Yao moved like lightning, weaving through the crowd, her fists and feet flying, each strike carrying a sharp gust of wind. I stood behind her, using the golden light emanating from the stone to form a barrier, blocking the attacks of those who managed to escape. The battle was incredibly fierce; the narrow entrance to the secret chamber actually limited the enemy's numerical advantage. Although I didn't possess Su Yao's skills, I could still barely withstand some attacks using the power of the stone. I constantly adjusted my breathing, trying to remain calm, searching for an opening in their defenses. Just then, I noticed Chen the Rich Merchant hiding behind the crowd, stealthily approaching the secret door.
His eyes gleamed with greed; he clearly wanted to slip inside amidst the chaos.
A thought flashed through my mind, and I immediately shouted to Su Yao, "Su Yao, watch out for Chen the Rich!"
Hearing my reminder, Su Yao immediately turned around and glanced back. Chen, the wealthy businessman, had been discovered and no longer bothered to conceal it; he quickened his pace, trying to rush into the secret door.
Seeing this, I immediately threw the stone in my hand at Chen Fushang. The stone, gleaming with golden light, streaked through the air like a shooting star and struck Chen Fushang precisely in the leg.
"what!"
Chen Fushang screamed and fell to the ground. Seeing that Chen Fushang was injured, his men panicked and their attack became chaotic.
Su Yao seized the opportunity, knocking the burly man to the ground with a heavy punch, then grabbed my hand and rushed into the secret door.
The hidden door slowly closed behind them, shutting out the noise from outside.
We entered a deep, dark passage, the walls on both sides of which were covered with mysterious runes that shimmered with a faint light.
I glanced back at Su Yao and noticed that her face was a little pale, clearly indicating that the battle had taken a toll on her strength.
"Are you OK?"
I asked with concern.
Su Yao shook her head and forced a smile: "I'm fine, just a little tired."
I helped Su Yao along, and we slowly made our way forward through the passage. The passage was very long, and we walked for a long time, but we still hadn't reached the end.
The runes around them grew denser and the light brighter, filling the air with a mysterious aura.
Suddenly, I felt a tremor beneath my feet, and the walls on both sides of the passage began to move, making a loud rumbling sound.
"careful!"
I grabbed Su Yao and pulled her behind me. The walls were moving faster and faster, and the passageway was getting smaller and smaller.
I felt an immense pressure coming from all directions, as if it were going to crush us into pieces.
"What's this……"
Su Yao's voice trembled slightly. I held Su Yao's hand tightly, feeling the warmth of her palm.
At the end of the passage, a light appeared... We stepped inside, and Su Yao whispered, "This...is..."
