Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 423 Exploring the Cracks into a Perilous and Mysterious Realm
Chapter 423
The crack, like a gigantic eye, coldly stared at us. It slowly writhed, its edges shimmering with an eerie green light, as if it might devour everything at any moment. The surrounding air thickened, oppressively suffocating us. Fear, like vines, coiled around my heart, and I felt a chill creeping into my palms.
"What...what is that?" The metal-clad youth's voice trembled as he gripped the metal-iridium beast tamer's arm tightly, his face as pale as paper. Even the metal-thallium warrior, who had remained expressionless until now, showed a solemn look, his sharp eyes fixed on the crack as if trying to see through the secret behind it.
“Perhaps… it’s another world…” the strategist muttered to himself, his tone filled with uncertainty and fear.
Silence, like an invisible net, enveloped us. No one spoke; only the howling wind added to the eerie atmosphere. This unsettling stillness was more unsettling than any clamor.
I took a deep breath, trying to suppress the fear in my heart. I knew I couldn't back down; I was everyone's pillar, and I had to face all of this bravely. "No matter what's inside, we have to go see." My voice was a little hoarse, but unusually firm.
As I spoke, I channeled my spiritual energy, and the Beast Taming Ring shone brightly. My three tamed beasts—Azure Phoenix, Crimson Flame Tiger, and Black Tortoise—appeared beside me. Sensing my resolve, they also exuded powerful auras, standing shoulder to shoulder with me, as if silently declaring that they would face all challenges together with me.
I flew towards the crevice first, my figure like a bolt of lightning, tearing through the heavy air. The wind whistled in my ears, and I felt like a moth drawn to an unknown flame. I knew it was dangerous, but I knew I had to do it.
My actions seemed to inspire the others. Su Yao followed closely behind, her eyes filled with unwavering determination. The Iridium Beast Tamer, the Metal Youth, the Mercury Envoy, and the Thallium Warrior also joined in. Fear remained, but more so was a resolute determination to die for the cause.
The closer we got to the crevice, the more intense the suffocating pressure became. Inside, it was a chaotic mess, nothing could be seen, as if it led to an endless abyss. A powerful suction force emanated from it, as if trying to pull us in. I tightly controlled my body, resisting the suction force, while vigilantly observing everything around me.
Suddenly, a gigantic tentacle emerged from the crack, as black as ink, covered in sharp barbs, and emitting a nauseating stench. The tentacle moved with incredible speed, sweeping towards us.
My heart skipped a beat, and I immediately commanded the Azure Phoenix to spew out a blazing flame. At the same time, the Crimson Flame Tiger let out a deafening roar and pounced towards the tentacles.
"boom!"
With a deafening roar, the tentacles were repelled, but more tentacles emerged from the crack… Su Yao flew to my side, grabbing my hand. Her hand was icy cold, but her eyes were unusually resolute. “Yu…”
Su Yao followed closely behind me, her hand gripping mine tightly. I could feel the coldness of her palm and the unwavering determination it conveyed. "Yu," her voice trembled slightly, but remained exceptionally firm, "no matter what danger there is, I'll be with you." I squeezed her hand back, giving her a reassuring look. I knew she would always be by my side, no matter what.
The Beastmaster with the metal and iridium stopped, his face pale and his eyes filled with terror. "No, we can't go any further!" he shouted. "This crevice is too strange; going in is suicide! We should go back and reconsider!"
His words were like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing the courage that had just been ignited in everyone. Both the gold-plated youth and the mercury-plated messenger showed hesitation.
"Beastmaster of Metal and Iridium, are you afraid?" I turned to look at him, a hint of displeasure in my voice. I knew fear was human nature, but now was not the time to back down.
"I'm not afraid!" The Beast Tamer's face flushed red. "I just... I just think it's too risky! We know nothing about what's inside the rift; going in rashly will only lead to our deaths!"
“But we can’t just do nothing!” I retorted. “This crack has appeared in our world’s sky, and we must figure out what it is and what it will bring! Running away won’t solve the problem!”
“But…” The iridium beast tamer wanted to say something, but was interrupted by the thallium warrior.
"Enough!" The thallium warrior's voice was deep and powerful. "We, the thallium people, never fear a challenge! Now that we've come this far, there's no reason to back down! We either go in together, or we go back together!"
The Iridium Beastmaster wanted to argue, but seeing the Thallium Warrior's resolute gaze, he ultimately shut his mouth. He took a deep breath, as if making some kind of decision.
"Okay, I'll go in with you!" His voice trembled slightly, but it was filled with determination.
I nodded and looked at the crack again. The crack was still slowly writhing, like a giant beast waiting to devour us, ready to trap us.
I took a deep breath, channeled my spiritual power once more, and flew towards the rift with my tamed beast. Su Yao followed closely behind, her hand still gripping mine tightly, as if trying to transfer all her power to me. The Iridium Beast Tamer, the Metal Youth, the Mercury Envoy, and the Thallium Warrior also caught up, their eyes filled with fear and hesitation, but above all, with a resolute determination to die for their cause.
The closer I got to the crack, the stronger the suction became. I felt as if an invisible hand was grabbing me and trying to pull me into an endless abyss. I tightly controlled my body, resisting the suction, while vigilantly observing everything around me.
Suddenly, I felt Su Yao's hand tighten abruptly, her body trembling slightly, as if she were afraid of something. I turned to look at her and saw that her face was pale, her lips were trembling slightly, and her eyes were filled with fear.
"Yu..." she called my name softly, her voice trembling slightly, "I...I feel..."
Before she could finish speaking, an even stronger suction suddenly came, and I felt my body being uncontrollably pulled towards the crack… Su Yao cried out in alarm, gripping my hand tightly, her eyes filled with terror and helplessness… “Yu…” The suction came too suddenly, too violently; I had no time to react before it dragged me into the crack. The wind howled in my ears, the light and shadows distorted before my eyes, and I felt as if I were being tossed about in a giant vortex, the world spinning, my internal organs feeling like they were being squeezed out. I held Su Yao’s hand tightly, afraid that if I let go, I would lose her forever.
"Su Yao!" I shouted, but my voice was torn apart by the gale and couldn't get through. I could only feel Su Yao's hand gripping mine tightly, and that strength told me she was still by my side, that we were still together.
I don't know how much time passed—perhaps just a moment, perhaps eternity—but the tearing sensation finally disappeared. I slowly opened my eyes and found myself in a completely unfamiliar place.
The sky here was a dark red, as if stained with blood, so oppressive it was hard to breathe. The ground was black, like congealed tar, emitting a pungent sulfurous smell. An eerie atmosphere permeated the air, sending chills down one's spine.
"Su Yao?" I quickly looked to my side. Su Yao was lying on the ground, her face pale and her eyes closed. I quickly helped her up. "Su Yao, are you alright?"
Su Yao slowly opened her eyes, her gaze still filled with confusion. "I...I'm fine..." Her voice was weak, as if she had exhausted all her strength.
I looked around and saw that the Iridium Beastmaster, the Metal Youth, the Mercury Envoy, and the Thallium Warrior were all nearby. They all looked like they had just gone through a fierce battle, their faces pale and their breathing disordered.
"Where is this place?" the gold-plated boy asked in terror, his voice trembling slightly.
No one could answer his question. We knew nothing about this place; it was shrouded in mystery and danger.
"Everyone be careful!" the thallium warrior said in a deep voice. "This place is very strange; we must be on high alert!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a strange sound suddenly came from afar, like the low growl of some wild beast or the chanting of some ritual, sending chills down one's spine.
"What was that sound?" asked the Mercury Messenger, his face pale and his voice trembling violently.
We looked in the direction of the sound, but all we could see was darkness in the distance; we couldn't make out anything. The eerie sound grew closer and clearer, as if something was slowly approaching us.
I gripped my sword tightly, my heart filled with vigilance. I knew that in this strange and eerie place, we could face deadly danger at any moment. Su Yao held my hand tightly as well, her eyes filled with fear, but even more so with determination. I knew that no matter what happened, she would face it with me.
The sound grew closer; we could even feel the ground trembling slightly. Suddenly, a dark figure emerged from the darkness—it was a…
"Watch out!" Su Yao suddenly shouted and pushed me away.
Before I could react, I felt something brush past me...
