Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 304 Near the Divine Artifact
The boy with lead suddenly stopped, staring ahead with a serious look in his eyes. "Wait..." His voice was low, trembling slightly. I followed his gaze, but all I could see was a hazy mist; I couldn't make out anything. "What's wrong?" Su Yao walked to his side and asked with concern.
The boy with lead didn't answer, but slowly squatted down and gently touched the ground with his finger. A slight vibration came from his fingertip, and my heart skipped a beat; an ominous premonition welled up inside me.
“Traps.” The boy with lead stood up, his face pale. “This place is full of traps; you could easily trigger one.”
My heart sank. The divine artifact was within reach, yet the surroundings were riddled with dangerous traps, undoubtedly increasing our difficulty significantly. I tried to use my mental power to survey the area, but found that it was severely suppressed here, making it impossible to probe very far.
Just then, a figure came rushing from afar—it was the Bismuth Beastmaster who had helped us before. Seeing us stop, he quickly asked, "What's wrong? What happened?"
“There’s a trap here,” I explained briefly.
Upon hearing this, the bismuth tamer's expression also turned serious. He carefully observed the surrounding environment and then said, "I know some information about these traps. Follow me, and I will try my best to lead you away from them."
A glimmer of hope ignited in my heart, and I quickly followed behind the Bismuth Beastmaster. His understanding of the artifact was indeed extraordinary; he skillfully led us away from most of the traps, even triggering some in advance to clear a safe path for us.
I am filled with gratitude for him; without him, we would probably have fallen into the trap long ago.
"Senior Bismuth, thank you so much," I said sincerely.
The bismuth tamer smiled and said, "No need to be polite. I'm also here for the divine artifact. It's only right that we help each other."
We continued onward, the fog thickening and visibility decreasing. I held Su Yao's hand tightly, afraid we might get separated at any moment.
Suddenly, the bismuth beastmaster stopped in his tracks. His expression turned grave as he stared ahead and said in a low voice, "Be careful, there's a large trap ahead..."
Before he could finish speaking, a whooshing sound came from afar...
The sound of something cutting through the air grew closer, and several figures emerged from the mist—it was the Mercury Beastmaster and his men, with the Thallium Beastmaster among them. They wore cold smiles, clearly having come prepared.
"Oh, isn't this Nong Yu? I didn't expect you to make it this far." The Mercury Beastmaster spoke with a mocking tone, his eyes full of contempt. He glanced around and sneered, "Looks like you've fallen into my trap."
My heart sank. The appearance of the Mercury Beastmaster had completely disrupted our plans. He brought not only the advantage of manpower, but also an invisible pressure, a suffocating sense of oppression. Su Yao held my hand tightly; her hand was soft and warm, and I could feel her strength flowing through me, which reassured me slightly.
"Mercury Beast Tamer, what do you mean by this?" I asked in a cold voice, trying to remain calm.
"What do you mean?" The Mercury Beastmaster laughed loudly. "Of course, it's to stop you from getting close to the divine artifact! This divine artifact is destined to be mine!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the thallium beast tamer ordered his men to spread out and surround us. They were all menacing, radiating a dangerous aura. The bismuth beast tamer's expression was grave. He whispered to me, "It seems we must deal with these people before we can proceed."
I nodded, mentally preparing for battle. Su Yao also drew her longsword, her gaze coldly sweeping over the surrounding enemies.
"Nong Yu, be careful, they are quite strong," Su Yao whispered to me.
I clenched my fist, took a deep breath, and said, "I know, I will protect you."
Just then, the boy with lead suddenly exclaimed, "Look! A magical artifact!"
I followed his gaze and saw, deep within the mist, a faintly radiant object. Though the light was dim, it was filled with a sacred aura, drawing me closer.
The divine artifact is within reach, but we are surrounded by the forces of the Mercury Beastmasters. How can we break through the encirclement and obtain the artifact? My mind raced as I considered various solutions.
The Mercury Beastmaster also noticed the divine artifact. A greedy glint flashed in his eyes as he shouted, "Charge! Whoever gets the artifact will be richly rewarded!"
Upon hearing this, his men charged at us with unbridled energy, as if injected with adrenaline. A fierce battle erupted instantly. I summoned my tamed beast, and together with Su Yao, we fought to repel the enemy's attacks.
The bismuth beastmaster also summoned his beast and joined the battle. Although the lead boy was not as strong as us, he bravely fought against the enemy.
The battle was incredibly fierce, and the surrounding air was filled with fluctuations of energy. As I fought, I kept a close eye on the direction of the artifact, my heart filled with anxiety.
Suddenly, I felt a powerful force emanating from the artifact. The force was vast and boundless, as if it would devour everything.
"What's going on?" I was startled and turned to look in the direction where the artifact was.
The light emanating from the artifact grew stronger and stronger, and the surrounding mist began to churn violently, as if something was about to burst forth from the earth...
The Mercury Beastmaster ceased his attack, his eyes fixed on the divine artifact, filled with greed and desire. He slowly raised his right hand, muttering incantations, seemingly preparing something…
"What is he going to do?" An ominous premonition rose in my heart, and an inexplicable sense of fear welled up in my mind.
A strange smile crept across the Mercury Beastmaster's lips. The light in his hand grew brighter and brighter, and a powerful force was gathering...
He suddenly pointed the light in his hand at the divine artifact and shouted, "Open it for me!"
