Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 288 The Path to Finding the Truth
Standing outside the door was Yin Feng, his face pale, his clothes disheveled, his breathing rapid, and his eyes filled with terror. "Brother Nong Yu, something terrible has happened! Someone's trying to kill me!" He grabbed my arm as if it were a lifeline.
My heart sank, and I immediately realized the seriousness of the situation. "What happened? Tell me slowly." I helped Yin Feng into the house, and Su Yao also came over with concern.
Yin Feng trembled as he said, "I...I was just on the street when I was suddenly attacked. The person was wearing a black cloak, so I couldn't see their face, but the moves they used...were exactly the same as those who framed the Golden Beastmaster!"
"As expected, someone wanted to kill me to silence me!" Su Yao clenched her fists, a flash of anger in her eyes.
I had Yin Feng describe the attacker's characteristics and fighting style in detail. Based on his description, I was almost certain that the attacker was an accomplice in framing the Golden Beastmaster. I took out the note covered in strange symbols that I had found in the Golden Beastmaster's room and handed it to Yin Feng: "Have you seen these symbols before?"
Yin Feng examined it carefully, then shook his head. "Never seen this before. What is it?"
"I don't know, but I think it might be related to the person who framed the Golden Beastmaster." I put the note away, a sense of unease creeping into my heart. Although the clues we have now point to the Golden Beastmaster being framed, the evidence is not yet sufficient. Moreover, the mastermind has begun to kill to silence witnesses, which means we are getting closer to the truth, but also means the danger we face is growing.
“We must find more evidence as soon as possible,” I said in a deep voice, “otherwise, we may be the next victims.”
Su Yao nodded in agreement. "Nong Yu, what are your thoughts?"
I thought for a moment and said, "Let's go to the place where Silverwind was attacked first, maybe we can find some clues."
The three of us immediately set off for the location where Silverwind had been attacked. It was a secluded alleyway, flanked by high walls, and dimly lit. A faint smell of blood permeated the air, sending chills down our spines.
I carefully observed my surroundings, hoping to find some clues. Suddenly, I felt my footing give way, and I fell to the ground.
"Nong Yu!" Su Yao exclaimed in surprise.
I fell heavily to the ground, a sharp pain shooting through my ankle. I gritted my teeth, enduring the pain, and looked around. It was a dark, damp cellar, filled with a musty smell. I realized I had fallen into a trap.
Just then, a cold voice came from above: "I didn't expect you to take the bait so quickly."
I looked up and saw a thin, sinister-looking man standing at the entrance to the cellar. It was Palladium's assistant, whom I had seen with Platinum Strategist before! He held a gleaming dagger in his hand, and a cold smile appeared on his lips.
"It's you!" My heart sank, knowing that this time I was probably in grave danger. I tried to stand up, but found that my ankle was twisted and I couldn't move at all.
The assistant descended into the cellar, his eyes filled with murderous intent. "Stop struggling, just accept your death." He raised his dagger and lunged at me… I instinctively reached out to block, but only felt a sharp pain…
"You think you can trap me with such petty tricks?" I sneered, a powerful force surging within me...
I sneered, a powerful surge of energy erupting from within me. The power of the Crimson Lion, with whom I had formed an equal pact, instantly flooded my entire body! I threw a punch, and the phantom of the Crimson Lion roared forth, its scorching flames instantly melting the approaching dagger. Palladium's assistant was shocked, clearly not expecting this move from me. Taking advantage of his momentary lapse in concentration, I kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying.
A sharp pain shot through my ankle. I gritted my teeth and forced myself to stand up. Su Yao's anxious voice came from above: "Nong Yu! Are you alright?"
"I'm alright!" I shouted back, glancing around at the same time. The cellar was larger than I had imagined, and besides the entrance from which I had fallen, there seemed to be a hidden exit. I gritted my teeth against the pain and limped toward the exit, only to find upon closer inspection that it was blocked by a huge stone slab.
I took a deep breath, channeled the power of the Crimson Lion, and slammed both palms into the stone slab. The slab made a dull thud and slowly moved away. A putrid stench hit me, making me frown.
I cautiously entered the passageway and found it to be a narrow corridor with strange symbols carved into the walls. A thought struck me, and I took out the note I had found in the Beastmaster's room earlier. Upon careful comparison, I discovered that the two were exactly the same!
"Just as I thought!" I thought to myself. It seemed this cellar was the key to framing the Golden Beastmaster! I continued forward, and at the end of the passage was a small room with a wooden box in the center. I went up to it, opened the box, and found it filled with forged evidence—enough to put the Golden Beastmaster to death!
I carefully put away the evidence and was about to leave when I suddenly heard a series of noisy footsteps coming from the entrance of the passageway. Oh no, it's Palladium Assistant and his men chasing after us! I immediately slipped into the shadows in the corner of the room, held my breath, and dared not move an inch.
"Damn it! He escaped!" The assistant's voice was filled with rage. "Search! Find him!"
A group of people rushed into the room and searched everywhere, but they couldn't find me. I hugged the wooden box tightly, my heart pounding, terrified that they would find me.
Just then, I heard a familiar voice: "What are you doing here?" It was Su Yao! She actually found this place!
The assistant's expression changed, and he quickly said, "Miss Su Yao, we..."
"Enough with the nonsense!" Su Yao sneered. "You're all acting so suspiciously; you must be up to something shady!"
Su Yao and Pad's assistants were locked in combat, and I took advantage of the chaos to escape through another exit of the room.
I ran frantically along a path until I was far away from that dangerous place. I took out the evidence I had found in the cellar and examined it closely. Besides the forged evidence, I also found a ring engraved with strange symbols. The style of this ring was very similar to the one I had seen on the Platinum Strategist before!
"Could it be... that the Platinum Strategist was also involved in the plot to frame the Golden Beastmaster?" I wondered to myself, a sense of unease creeping into my heart. I must find more evidence as soon as possible to uncover the truth behind this.
I looked up into the distance, towards the direction of the Iridium Beastmaster's residence, a glint of light flashing in my eyes. "Perhaps... I know where to find the answer..." I murmured to myself, and strode towards the Iridium Beastmaster's residence.
