Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 262 Exploring the Secret Chamber, Undercurrents of Passion

The dark, damp entrance emitted a chilling aura, making me shiver. The messenger went in first, followed closely by Su Yao and me. The entrance was narrow, forcing us to crawl forward. In the darkness, I could only feel Su Yao's warm breath brushing against my cheek.

After crawling for a long time, the view suddenly opened up, and we arrived at a spacious underground chamber.

The air was thick with the smell of dust, and a few dim oil lamps flickered weakly, illuminating the scene inside the sealed room.

Strange runes were carved on the walls, exuding a mysterious aura. In the center of the room stood a stone table, piled high with various books and scrolls.

"This is where the Dark Lord plotted his schemes." The Di Envoy's voice echoed in the empty chamber, trembling slightly. "All their secrets are hidden here."

I endured the pain and walked to the stone table, picking up a scroll.

The scroll was covered with dense text, and after careful examination, I discovered that it contained evidence of the Dark Lord's collusion with other forces!

"Just as I expected!" I thought to myself. This evidence is enough to expose the true face of the Dark Lord and restore justice to the world.

"Watch out!" Su Yao suddenly exclaimed.

Before I could react, I heard a soft "click," and a mechanism on the stone table was activated. Oh no! My heart sank; there were mechanisms in this secret chamber!

"Warning! Warning! Intruder!" The piercing alarm blared in the secret room, echoing endlessly.

Damn it! I cursed under my breath. This is a huge problem! The alarm will definitely attract the Dark Lord's guards. We must find a way out of here as soon as possible.

"What should we do?" Di asked in a panic, his face pale.

I forced myself to calm down and looked around, hoping to find some clues.

The walls of the secret room were covered with all sorts of patterns. I looked at them carefully, hoping to find a hidden exit.

"Here!" Su Yao pointed to a pattern on the wall and said, "This pattern is different from the others!"

I looked in the direction Su Yao was pointing and sure enough, I saw that the pattern was slightly raised, seemingly a hidden button. I took a deep breath and pressed it.

"Rumble..." A muffled sound came, and a hidden door appeared in the wall.

"Hurry!" I grabbed Su Yao and the Di Envoy's hands and rushed into the secret door.

Behind the hidden door was a narrow passage. We ran along the passage, hoping to shake off our pursuers.

"They're catching up!" Su Yao said anxiously as she looked back.

My heart tightened, and I quickened my pace. A glimmer of light appeared at the end of the passage, and I was overjoyed—the exit was right in front of me! Just then, Su Yao suddenly stopped.

"What's wrong?" I asked confusedly.

Su Yao did not answer, but stared intently at a pattern on the wall, her expression solemn.

“This pattern…” Su Yao murmured to herself, “It seems like I’ve seen it somewhere before…”

"Yao, we must leave here immediately!" I urged.

Su Yao ignored me and instead reached out and gently stroked the pattern on the wall.

"Wait..." Su Yao suddenly said, "I remember now..."

"I remember now!" Su Yao suddenly raised her head, a glint of light flashing in her eyes. "I've seen this pattern in an ancient book! It represents... silence!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Su Yao placed her palm on the pattern, and a strange energy fluctuation spread out from her palm, instantly enveloping the entire secret room.

The grating alarm came to an abrupt halt, like a rooster being choked and suddenly falling silent.

"Great! Now we have time!" I was overjoyed. Su Yao was actually able to block the alarm; this was a stroke of genius!

Her composure and insight made me admire her even more. But before I could be happy for long, the walls around the secret room suddenly cracked open, and metal puppets jumped out.

These puppets were burly and wielded sharp blades that gleamed coldly; they were clearly not to be trifled with.

"Watch out! It's an automated defense puppet!" Su Yao shouted, drawing her longsword from her waist and assuming a fighting stance.

I immediately prepared for battle, and with a thought, my beast companion—the Earth-Splitting Bear—appeared beside me.

"Earth-Splitting Bear, cover me!" I gave the order, and the Earth-Splitting Bear let out a deafening roar, its massive body charging towards the puppets like a small mountain.

I commanded another beast, the Gale Wolf, to harass and attack from the side.

The Gale Wolf was incredibly fast, turning into a series of afterimages as it constantly darted around the puppets, waiting for an opportunity to tear into their weaknesses.

Su Yao, on the other hand, was like a fluttering butterfly, skillfully weaving between the puppets.

Her figure was light and graceful. Every time she swung her longsword, a fragrant breeze would rise up. The sword light flashed and accurately struck the core of the puppet.

The puppet's metal shell was like paper under her sharp blade, easily torn apart. I was mesmerized; Su Yao's combat skills were simply breathtaking.

She was not only agile, but also had a very precise grasp of the enemy's weaknesses, making every strike just right.

"Nong Yu, don't get distracted!" Su Yao shouted, drawing my attention back.

I quickly focused my attention, directing the Earth-Splitting Bear and the Gale Wolf in a fierce battle against the puppets. The Earth-Splitting Bear possessed immense strength; each swing of its claws sent a puppet flying.

The Gale Wolf used its speed advantage to constantly harass and restrain the puppet, creating opportunities for me and Su Yao to attack.

The battle lasted for nearly half an hour. The floor of the secret chamber was littered with metal fragments, and the air was filled with a strong smell of burning.

Finally, the last puppet was destroyed by Su Yao's longsword and collapsed to the ground with a thud. I breathed a long sigh of relief, my muscles aching all over.

Although this battle was thrilling, it also made me realize the importance of teamwork more deeply.

I turned to look at Su Yao and saw fine beads of sweat on her forehead, and a few strands of hair sticking messily to her cheeks, which only added to her charm.

Her sweat-drenched appearance stirred a strong desire within me. I couldn't help but step forward and gently pull her into my arms.

Su Yao's body was soft and warm, and I greedily inhaled the faint fragrance emanating from her. Su Yao raised her head, her eyes filled with allure and love.

She gently bit her lip and said softly, "Yu, now is not the time..."

But she didn't push me away; instead, she pressed her body even closer to my chest... Her hand, slowly... reached towards mine... Su Yao's hand slowly climbed up my waist, her fingertips gently tracing my skin, sending a tingling electric current through me. My breathing became rapid, and my heart beat faster and faster.

Her fragrance, like poppies, intoxicated me, leaving me unable to extricate myself.

“Yao…” I murmured her name softly, my voice hoarse and low.

Su Yao raised her head, her eyes glazed over, her cheeks flushed.

She gently bit her lip and said softly, "Yu, now... is not the time..."

Her voice was soft and melodious, with a hint of coy reluctance, which made me even more restless. I couldn't help but lower my head, wanting to kiss her alluring red lips.

Just as my lips were about to touch hers, a weak voice suddenly rang out: "Ahem... Gentlemen... could you... perhaps take care of business first..."

I snapped out of my daze and turned to look. I saw Di Shizhe leaning against the corner of the wall, his face pale and his eyes filled with helplessness.

Then I remembered that we were still in the secret room, and there were more important things to do. I was filled with frustration and wanted to slap myself.

Su Yao also came to her senses, a blush of embarrassment flashing across her face.

She gently pushed me away, straightened her disheveled clothes, and then walked to Di's side, asking with concern, "Di, how are you feeling?"

"Cough cough... I'm... alright..." the Di Envoy replied weakly, "but... time is of the essence... we must find... clues to the Dark Lord's conspiracy as soon as possible..."

His words reminded me that we couldn't delay any longer.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down, then walked over to the Di Envoy and asked, "Di Envoy, do you know what the Dark Lord's conspiracy is?"

The Di Envoy shook his head and said, "This old man... only knows... that the Dark Lord is plotting... something that could overturn the entire Beast Taming World... but what exactly it is... this old man doesn't know either..."

"Then... is there any clue in this secret room?" I looked around, hoping to find some clues.

The messenger pointed to a stone slab in the center of the secret chamber and said, "This stone slab... is very likely... the key..."

I walked up to the stone slab and examined it closely. The surface of the stone slab was smooth and flat, without any patterns or words.

I tapped the stone slab with my hand, and it made a dull sound, as if it were hollow.

“This stone slab… seems to have some kind of mechanism…” I said.

Su Yao also came over and carefully examined the stone slab. Suddenly, she reached out and felt around the edge of the slab, then gently pressed it, and the slab made a soft "click" sound.

One corner of the stone slab slowly lifted up, revealing a dark hole. I was overjoyed; it seemed we had found a clue.

I took out a tinderbox, lit it, and carefully extended it into the opening. The opening was very deep, and the light could only illuminate a small area.

I could vaguely see that there seemed to be something inside. I reached in, rummaged around for a while, and then took out a scroll.

The scroll was made of an unknown animal hide and was covered with dense writing.

"What is this?" Su Yao asked.

I shook my head and said, "I don't know, I don't recognize any of the characters on it..."

The messenger walked with difficulty to my side, glanced at the scroll, and his expression immediately became serious.

“This is… the Dark Lord’s… journal…” he said, his voice trembling, “It records… his plots…”

My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly unrolled the scroll.

However, the instant I unrolled the scroll, a powerful force suddenly erupted from it, blasting me backward... My vision went blank...
