Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 257 Venturing into Danger and Mystery, Seeking the Key

The heavy iron door creaked open, and a cold, damp chill wafted out, like the breath of hell. Behind the door was not the room as expected, but a deep, narrow corridor. Torches flickered on the walls, casting eerie shadows and shrouding the depths of the corridor in a hazy mist.

"Be careful." I gripped Su Yao's hand tightly, my palms slightly sweaty.

This eerie silence was even more unsettling than the previous shouts of battle. Su Yao squeezed my hand back; her hand was still icy cold, yet it conveyed a resolute strength to me.

We moved slowly down the corridor, taking each step with extreme caution, afraid of triggering some mechanism. The corridor meandered and twisted, seemingly without end.

After walking for a long time, we came to the first fork in the road. Three dark passages, like giant beasts ready to devour us, silently awaited us.

"Which way?" I asked in a low voice, a sense of helplessness rising in my heart.

Su Yao didn't speak, but closed her eyes and took a deep breath, as if she was sensing something.

A moment later, she opened her eyes and pointed to the leftmost passage: "Take this one."

We continued onward, and along the way, we would occasionally encounter henchmen of the dark forces, like rats in a gutter, hiding in the shadows.

Most of them were low-level beast tamers, but there were many of them, and they were fearless and caused us a lot of trouble.

After each battle, my physical strength was greatly depleted, and even Su Yao's breathing became rapid. I felt dizzy, and everything before my eyes began to blur.

"Take a rest," Su Yao said with concern, helping me lean against the wall.

I shook my head, forcing myself to stay alert: "No, we must find the Di Messenger as soon as possible."

Su Yao didn't say anything more, but silently took out a pill from her bosom and handed it to me: "Eat this, it can restore some of your strength."

I took the pill and swallowed it. A warm current rose from my abdomen and flowed throughout my body, easing my fatigue slightly.

We continued forward, and finally an iron gate appeared at the end of the corridor.

This door was thicker and heavier than the previous one, with more intricate runes carved on it, and it exuded an even more chilling aura.

Su Yao took a deep breath and pushed open the iron door with all her might. Behind the door was still a corridor... only this corridor was wider and more sinister.

Along both sides of the corridor, at intervals there is a cage containing all sorts of creatures, some human, some beasts, all emitting painful groans that echo in the empty corridor, sending chills down one's spine.

“The Di Messenger…” I murmured the name, my heart filled with both hope and worry.

Suddenly, Su Yao stopped in her tracks, her gaze falling on a cage at the end of the corridor.

“There it is!” Su Yao pointed to the cage, her voice tinged with excitement.

I followed her gaze and saw a thin, white-haired old man imprisoned in the cage.

Although he was dressed in rags, his eyes were unusually firm, showing no signs of the despair of being imprisoned.

"Is it him?" I asked.

Su Yao nodded: "It should be him. I can sense a familiar aura about him."

We quickened our pace and headed towards the cage.

Just then, a chilling laugh echoed from the depths of the corridor… “Looks like you’ve finally found it.”

Beyond the iron gate was another corridor, where the eerie atmosphere grew even stronger, as if solidified, making it hard for me to breathe.

The cages on both sides held various creatures, their cries of agony rising and falling like a symphony of despair echoing through the empty corridor.

I even saw a cage containing a giant wolf engulfed in flames, desperately pounding against the iron bars with a deafening clanging sound.

"We need to find the exact location of the Di Envoy. Searching aimlessly like this is taking too much time." I wiped the sweat from my forehead. This damned underground castle is like a giant maze.

Su Yao's face was also a little pale. The long battle and high mental stress had taken their toll on her.

She leaned gently on my shoulder, and I could feel her body trembling slightly.

"I...I'm a little tired," she said softly, her voice tinged with weariness.

I tenderly pulled her into my arms and gently stroked her hair.

"It's okay, we'll find him soon." My voice was firm, but my heart was filled with anxiety.

Suddenly, I remembered my beast-taming companion—the Tracking Rat. It possesses an extremely keen sense of smell and can track any scent. I immediately summoned it from the beast-taming space.

"Little guy, it's up to you now." I handed it a piece of clothing that the Di Envoy had once worn. The Tracking Mouse sniffed it and then ran quickly down the corridor, its figure appearing and disappearing in the dim light.

We followed closely behind the tracking mouse, which chose a direction without hesitation at several forks in the road, and finally stopped in front of a heavy stone door, scratching the ground and making squeaking noises.

"It seems that the Di Envoy is inside." I looked at the stone door, and a glimmer of hope ignited in my heart.

This stone door is different from the previous iron door. It is engraved with complex runes and emits a powerful energy fluctuation, clearly indicating that it is protected by a strong restriction.

Su Yao also regained some of her energy. She stood up straight, a glint of light flashing in her eyes.

“Let me try,” she said, placing her hand on the stone door. A powerful energy surged from her body, impacting the stone door’s restrictions.

The runes on the stone gate began to flash and make a buzzing sound. A powerful recoil force pushed Su Yao back a few steps, and I quickly helped her up.

"Be careful!" Su Yao shook her head, her face pale, clearly the impact had drained a lot of her energy.

"This restriction is very strong; I can't open it by myself." I took a deep breath and poured my own power into the stone door. The two forces merged together, forming an even more powerful energy that impacted the restriction on the stone door.

Just then, heavy footsteps echoed from the depths of the corridor, accompanied by the clanging of metal, growing ever closer...

"Someone's coming!" Su Yao said in a low voice, a hint of vigilance flashing in her eyes.

My heart tightened, and a sense of foreboding washed over me. The restrictions on the stone gate weren't fully lifted yet; our situation was extremely dangerous...

"Looks like we need to speed things up." I gritted my teeth and increased my power output.

The footsteps grew closer, and a cold voice echoed in the corridor: "Who goes there, daring to trespass on forbidden grounds!"

The runes on the stone gate flickered more and more intensely, and the buzzing sound grew louder and louder, as if it were about to explode at any moment.

Just at this critical moment, the footsteps stopped at the corner of the corridor.

A tall figure appeared in our field of vision, covered in heavy black armor, holding a huge battle axe that gleamed with a cold metallic luster.

"Holmium Guards!" Su Yao exclaimed softly, a hint of seriousness flashing in her eyes.

I immediately returned the Tracking Rat to my Beast Taming Space and summoned my other Beast Taming Beast—the Crimson Flame Tiger.

The Crimson Tiger let out a deafening roar, its body engulfed in raging flames, and pounced towards the Holmium Guard. The Holmium Guard swung his battle axe, hacking fiercely at the Crimson Tiger.

The battle axe clashed with the flames, producing a piercing metallic scraping sound and sending sparks flying. The Crimson Tiger nimbly dodged the attack, circled behind the Holmium Guardian, and viciously clawed at his back.

With a clang, the Holmium Guardian's armor was exceptionally hard, and the Crimson Tiger's claws failed to penetrate his defenses.

My heart sank; the Holmium Guardian was stronger than I had imagined. I took a deep breath and commanded the Crimson Tiger to harass the Holmium Guardian while secretly observing his weaknesses.

During a lull in the battle, my thoughts drifted back to the past.

I was once just an unknown, ordinary boy. In order to gain great power, I endured hardships that are unimaginable to ordinary people.

I have toiled under the scorching sun and shivered in the freezing winter, but I have never given up on my dream.

I have constantly honed my will and improved my abilities, and step by step I have come to where I am today.

Now, standing here facing a powerful enemy, I feel no fear, only boundless fighting spirit.

I must rescue the Di Envoy and uncover the conspiracy behind this! The Crimson Tiger's attacks grew more and more ferocious, and the flames became more and more intense, turning the entire corridor a fiery red.

Although the Holmium Guardian had amazing defensive capabilities, it was gradually becoming unable to withstand the continuous attacks of the Crimson Tiger.

Just then, all the runes on the stone gate finally went out, and the restriction was lifted! I was overjoyed and quickly pulled Su Yao into the stone gate.

Behind the stone gate was a small room. In the center of the room, a thin figure was bound to a stone pillar with iron chains. It was none other than the Di Envoy!

"Envoy Di!" I rushed forward, trying to untie the chains binding him.

Just then, the holmium guard rushed into the room, brandishing his battle axe and slashing fiercely at me.

I quickly dodged, while simultaneously directing the Crimson Tiger to block the Holmium Guard's attack.

"Quickly take the Di Envoy away, I'll hold him off!" Su Yao stood in front of me, a dazzling light condensing in her hand.

I gave Su Yao a deep look, and without hesitation, I turned around, untied the chains on the Di Envoy, and helped him walk to the other side of the room.

There was a passage leading to the ground... We moved quickly along the passage, and the sounds of battle behind us grew increasingly intense.

Suddenly, a heavy stone door blocked our way. The door was covered with strange runes and exuded an eerie aura.

“This…” I stared at the stone gate before me, my heart sinking. The Di Envoy weakly pointed to the runes on the stone gate, his voice trembling as he said, “This is… the Sealed Gate…”
