Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 2 A Path Full of Thorns, A Glimmer of Hope for Beast Taming

I felt my feet slip and my body plummet! I was startled and quickly grabbed a vine next to me to steady myself.

Looking down, I saw a bottomless pit covered with withered branches and leaves. If I hadn't reacted quickly, I probably would have fallen in.

Damn it, who set this trap? I looked around and saw some fresh cut marks on the surrounding trees, clearly man-made.

Could it be Lin Hu? I can't think of anyone else who would go to such lengths to harm me.

I secretly rejoiced, all thanks to Xiaobai. Since signing the equal contract, a special connection had been established between Xiaobai and me; I could sense some of its feelings, including its premonition of danger.

Just as I was about to step into the trap, Little White suddenly became restless and kept scratching at my trouser leg with its claws, which made me more alert.

I carefully climbed up, dusted myself off, and felt a burning anger inside me.

Lin Hu, you've really gone too far! I'll make you pay!

I continued toward the ball of light, but this time I was more careful, observing my surroundings with every step I took.

Since Lin Hu dared to set a trap, it means he must still be nearby.

After walking for a while, I found a dense thicket of bushes blocking my way.

Just as I was about to go around it, I suddenly heard a rustling sound coming from the bushes.

Could it be Lin Hu? I gripped the machete tightly, held my breath, and slowly approached the bushes.

Parting the branches, I saw a familiar figure—Lin Hu!

He was lurking furtively behind the bushes, holding a dagger in his hand, staring at me with a sinister look in his eyes.

"Nong Yu, I never expected you to escape my trap!" Lin Hu said through gritted teeth. "But do you think you can escape my grasp like this? Today, I will make sure you die here!"

I sneered and said, "Lin Hu, you're really stubborn! I warned you long ago not to mess with me again!"

Lin Hu grinned maliciously and said, "Enough with the nonsense! Today it's either you or me who dies!"

Having said that, he brandished his dagger and lunged at me. I was prepared, so I raised my woodcutter's knife and met him at the same time.

"when!"

The blades clashed, producing a crisp sound. Lin Hu's strength was greater than I had imagined; the impact made my hands go numb, and I staggered backward.

"Haha, Nong Yu, your strength is nothing special!" Lin Hu laughed smugly. "Today, you'd better obediently accept your death!"

He brandished his dagger and lunged at me again. I quickly dodged, but he was too fast, and I was nearly stabbed.

Just when I was about to lose my grip, I suddenly heard a clear bird song.

Immediately afterwards, a white figure descended from the sky and landed in front of me.

"Little White!" I exclaimed in surprise. Little White opened its little mouth, and an ice arrow shot out, striking Lin Hu's wrist.

Lin Hu screamed in pain, and the dagger fell to the ground. I seized the opportunity to raise my wood-chopping knife and slash at Lin Hu's shoulder.

Lin Hu couldn't dodge in time and was struck by my blade, causing blood to gush out.

"what!"

Lin Hu let out a shrill scream, fell to the ground, and groaned in pain while clutching his wound.

I looked at him coldly and said, "Lin Hu, you asked for this!" With that, I turned to leave.

Suddenly, I felt a powerful aura coming from behind me.

I turned around abruptly and saw a gigantic figure walking towards me... that figure was so large it blotted out the sky...

"What's this……"

That figure, blotting out the sky, was like a colossal beast that had stepped out of ancient mythology.

Its body was covered with thick scales that shimmered with a metallic luster, and its pair of scarlet giant eyes emitted a chillingly fierce light.

I have never seen such a huge monster. Just standing there, it exudes a suffocating sense of oppression.

Little White also sensed the danger. It let out a sharp cry, its feathers stood on end, and its small body trembled slightly.

I knew we were in deep trouble. "Roar!" The behemoth let out a deafening roar, and the ground trembled.

It suddenly swung its huge claws and slammed them down at me.

I quickly dodged to the side, barely avoiding the attack.

The giant claw landed on the ground with a loud thud, creating a huge crater.

"Little White, Ice Arrows!" I shouted. Little White immediately opened its little mouth, and a barrage of ice arrows rained down on the giant beast.

However, these ice arrows struck the giant beast's thick scales, only sending up sparks and causing no real damage.

The behemoth seemed to be enraged. It roared again, opened its blood-red maw, and spewed a stream of scorching flames at me.

I quickly raised my machete and chopped at the flames with all my might.

The wood-chopping knife sizzled as it struck the flames, and I felt a wave of intense heat wash over me, my arm burning painfully.

I gritted my teeth, enduring the pain, and swung the wood-chopping knife again to scatter the flames.

However, the giant beasts attacked one after another, and I had no chance to catch my breath.

I feel my strength draining away rapidly, and I'm getting more and more wounds.

I know that if this continues, I will be killed by the giant beast sooner or later.

Just when I was about to despair, I suddenly heard a clear voice: "Beast! Stop!"

Immediately afterwards, a dazzling light flashed, and the giant beast let out a painful howl, its massive body being knocked back several steps.

I looked up and saw a woman in silver armor standing in front of me, holding a long sword.

She was tall and slender with stunning beauty, her long, jet-black hair flowing in the wind, like a goddess descended from the heavens.

"You are..." I looked at her in surprise. "I am Su Yao," the woman said calmly. "Are you alright?"

"I'm alright, thank you for saving me," I said gratefully.

"It was nothing," Su Yao said. "This magical beast is quite powerful. How could you, a mere beast tamer, dare to provoke it?"

I gave a wry smile and told her what had happened. After listening, Su Yao frowned slightly and said, "It seems you've encountered quite a bit of trouble. Deep within this ancient forest, many powerful magical beasts are hidden, and I sense that there seems to be even greater danger ahead."

"An even greater danger?" I was startled. "That's right." Su Yao nodded, "But at the same time, I also feel that that might be the final place where your Beast Taming Awakening will take place."

My mind began to struggle. Should I give up now, or keep going?

I took a deep breath and said, "I've decided to keep going!"

Su Yao looked at me, a hint of admiration flashing in her eyes, and said, "Very good, that's courageous. Come with me."

We walked together deeper into the ancient forest. After walking for a long time, we came to a clearing.

In the center of the open space, there was a mysterious array, emanating powerful energy fluctuations.

I stared at the formation, my mind filled with questions. I didn't know how to enter it, nor what it held within… Su Yao walked to the edge of the formation, reached out, and gently touched the runes on it, whispering, “It seems this is…”
