Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 199 Approaching the Tribe, New Obstacles Ahead
The light at the end of the passage grew brighter and brighter, so bright that I squinted.
Finally, we burst out of the passage, and a bright and open view opened up before us.
This is a huge valley surrounded by towering peaks that reach into the clouds. Sunlight streams down from the peaks, illuminating the entire valley.
In the center of the valley, there are many uniquely shaped buildings, mostly built of stone and wood, exuding a primitive atmosphere.
There is a strange fragrance in the air, which makes people feel relaxed and happy.
This is the lost settlement of a tribal community!
Before we could observe it closely, a loud metallic clang echoed through the valley.
My heart skipped a beat, and I looked in the direction of the sound. I saw a tall figure emerge from behind a building.
The figure was covered in heavy metal armor, which reflected a blinding light.
He held a huge battle axe in his hand, its blade gleaming with a cold light, clearly extremely sharp.
He walked step by step, each step causing the ground to tremble slightly, like a moving steel fortress.
"Iron Guardian!" The description of the Chromium Beastmaster flashed through my mind, and my heart sank.
He knew that one of my purposes in coming here was to find the lost tribes, and he had warned me that the lost tribes were extremely wary of outsiders, and their guardians—the Iron Guards—were powerful and loyal. To enter the tribe, one had to gain their approval.
I took a deep breath and tried to keep myself calm.
We must not act rashly now; we must find a way to communicate with him.
“Hello, esteemed Iron Guard,” I said, trying to keep a calm tone, “we are travelers from the outside world, with no ill intentions, we just want to…”
Before I could finish speaking, the Iron Guard raised his battle axe, pointed it at us, and issued a low warning: "Leave! Outsiders are not welcome here!"
His voice was harsh, like the scraping of metal, and full of hostility.
My heart sank; it seemed that resolving the issue peacefully would not be easy.
I noticed that the Iron Guard's gaze lingered on my tamed beasts for a moment, as if he were somewhat interested in them.
The Beastmaster Chromium once said that lost tribes have a special affection for beast taming, and perhaps this is a breakthrough.
“We are all beast tamers,” I said, pointing to the Crimson Flame Bird, the Armored Rhinoceros, and Little Shadow beside me. “They are all friendly and will not harm anyone.”
I gestured for Xiaoying to come forward. Xiaoying hesitated for a moment, glanced at the Iron Guard, and then cautiously walked over, gently wagging her tail at the Iron Guard.
The Iron Guardian's gaze was fixed on Xiaoying, and he lowered his battle axe slightly.
A glimmer of hope ignited in my heart; it seemed my strategy had worked.
I continued, "We just want to learn about your tribe and your culture; we have no other purpose."
The Iron Guard was silent for a moment, then slowly lowered his battle axe, but his tone remained icy: "You can stay here, but you must abide by our rules."
Su Yao stood quietly beside me, her hand gently resting on my shoulder, offering me silent support.
I felt her strength, and my heart filled with warmth. Suddenly, a series of hurried footsteps came from afar, accompanied by a cacophony of shouts…
"What's going on?" The Iron Guard turned his head warily toward the direction from which the voice came and said in a deep voice.
Su Yao's hands were very warm; through her thin clothes, the warmth reached my skin and seeped into my heart.
I glanced at her sideways, and she returned a firm look, her lips curving slightly upward, as if to say, "Don't worry, I'm here."
At that moment, my initial nervousness miraculously subsided.
Although the Iron Guardian had put down his battle axe, he still stood in our way, like an insurmountable wall.
“You say you meant no harm, but that’s just empty talk.” His voice was deep and powerful. “You must prove yourselves.”
Looking into the Iron Guard's resolute eyes, I pondered how to prove that I meant no harm.
I suddenly remembered that the Beastmaster Chromium mentioned that this tribe values the emotional bond between beastmasters, which might be a breakthrough.
“We are willing to accept any test,” I said in a deep voice, my gaze sweeping over the strange buildings around us, “as long as it proves our sincerity.”
The Iron Guardian pondered for a moment, then pointed to a towering stone tower in the distance and said, "Do you see that tower? That is the sacred ground of our tribe. Only those with pure hearts can climb to the top. If you can climb to the top, I will believe you have no ill intentions."
I looked in the direction he was pointing, and there stood a towering stone tower that seemed to reach into the clouds. Its body was covered with strange runes and it exuded a mysterious aura.
A chill ran through me; this was clearly no ordinary tower, and it probably held some hidden secret.
“Okay, we accept the challenge.” I agreed without hesitation.
Su Yao nodded, indicating her support for my decision.
We walked toward the stone tower, taking each step with extreme care.
The surrounding buildings became fewer and fewer, replaced by dense jungle.
A strange fragrance filled the air, making one feel slightly dizzy.
"Be careful," Su Yao whispered a warning, "I feel like something's not right here."
I nodded, also noticing that the atmosphere around me was a bit strange.
Xiaoying also seemed a little uneasy, constantly rubbing against my feet.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the jungle, as if something was rapidly approaching.
A chill ran down my spine, and I immediately became more vigilant.
"Who's there?" I shouted.
The response I received was a sharp scream.
Immediately afterwards, a dark figure darted out of the jungle and pounced on us.
It was a huge beast, covered in black scales that shimmered with a metallic sheen.
Its eyes were blood-red, and its mouth was full of sharp fangs, exuding a ferocious aura.
I immediately summoned the Crimson Flame Bird and the Armored Rhinoceros to prepare for battle.
Su Yao also drew her longsword, staring coldly at the beast.
"It seems this is more than just a test..." I muttered to myself, gripping the Beast Taming Ring tightly in my hand, my eyes fixed on the approaching beast, wondering to myself, "What kind of creature is this..."
