Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 174: The light gradually appears, the agreement is waiting to be completed

The council chamber where the peace agreement was signed was solemn and tense. Sunlight streamed in through the tall windows, but it couldn't dispel the gloom that hung over everyone's hearts.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. The words of the Beastmaster still echoed in my ears. Was things really not that simple?

Representatives from various factions entered the venue one after another, their expressions varied, some were smiling, some had furrowed brows, and some were indifferent.

I immediately spotted Elder Tan sitting in the chief seat. Although he had recovered somewhat, his face was still pale and he seemed rather listless.

"Gentlemen," Elder Carbon's voice was somewhat hoarse, "we have gathered here today to sign a peace agreement and end this protracted war." As soon as he finished speaking, a murmur arose in the council hall.

I knew that huge differences still existed between the various forces, and signing a peace agreement would not be easy. Sure enough, the subsequent negotiations did not go smoothly.

Each faction insisted on its own interests, refusing to yield, and arguments rose and fell. Watching the representatives arguing heatedly, I couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness.

"Gentlemen," I finally couldn't help but speak, "peace is hard-won, and we should not give up this hard-won opportunity for immediate gains." I presented my carefully prepared plan for the distribution of benefits to everyone and explained its advantages and disadvantages in detail.

My plan is not perfect, but it balances the interests of all parties as much as possible. "I think young friend Nong Yu's proposal is feasible," Elder Tan was the first to express his support.

With Elder Carbon's support, other factions began to reconsider my plan. After a heated discussion, most factions ultimately agreed to my proposal.

The lithium leader's face was terribly grim. He glared at me fiercely but said nothing. I knew he wouldn't let this go.

The signing ceremony for the peace agreement began. Representatives from all parties signed their names on the agreement in turn.

When Elder Carbon trembled as he signed the last name, the weight that had been hanging over my heart finally lifted.

However, at that moment, the doors to the council hall were suddenly kicked open... "It's terrible! The Nitrogen Messenger... the Nitrogen Messenger, he..." A guard rushed in, his face pale.

The guard's words came to an abrupt halt, yet they exploded like a bomb in the council hall.

Everyone was shocked. The atmosphere in the council hall, which had been slightly relaxed due to the impending peace, instantly froze and became even more tense than before.

Nitrogen Messenger? What happened to him? A sense of foreboding washed over me, and I jumped to my feet.

"Explain yourself! What happened to the Nitrogen Envoy?" Elder Carbon roared, his already pale face now even more ashen. The guard stammered, "The Nitrogen... the Nitrogen Envoy... was... was killed!" A commotion erupted in the council hall.

Although the Nitrogen Messenger lacked the ability to control beasts, he represented the hope for peace, and his death was undoubtedly the greatest provocation against the peace agreement. "Who did it?!" I asked through gritted teeth.

Is the peace that we were so close to achieving about to vanish into thin air again?

Before the guards could answer, the leader of the lithium forces sneered and stood up. His cold gaze swept over everyone and finally landed on me.

"Hmph, peace? It's nothing but the fantasy of the weak!" My heart sank. It really was him! The leader of the lithium forces has always opposed the peace agreement; he's now going to completely break off relations!

"Lithium leader, what do you mean by this?" Elder Carbon glared at the lithium leader, his tone full of warning.

"What do you mean? Elder Carbon, you're too old to see the situation clearly." The leader of the lithium forces met Elder Carbon's gaze without fear. "In this world, the strong ultimately call the shots! Peace treaty? It's nothing but a piece of waste paper!" As soon as he finished speaking, several beast tamers dressed in black entered from outside the door and surrounded the council hall.

"What...what are you going to do?!" Elder Tan exclaimed in shock and anger.

The leader of the lithium faction sneered, "What are we doing? Of course, we're rewriting the rules!" He turned to look at me, his eyes full of provocation, "Nong Yu, didn't you want to sign a peace agreement? I'd like to see if you can still sign it today!" I clenched my fists tightly, trying to control the anger in my heart.

I turned to look at the Boron Beastmaster, who gave me a firm look, signaling me to calm down. "Leader of the Lithium Faction, you are disrupting the peace! You will pay the price for this!" I said, suppressing my anger.

"Price? Hahaha!" The leader of the lithium forces laughed wildly. "I'd like to see what price you can make me pay!" I took a deep breath, knowing that now was not the time to be reckless.

I had to find a way to stabilize the situation and prevent the lithium leader's conspiracy from succeeding. Just then, I felt a warm hand grasp my hand.

I turned around and saw Su Yao. She had been waiting for me outside the council hall, her face filled with worry. "Don't worry, I'll handle it." I gently patted her hand and gave her a reassuring smile.

Feeling the warmth of her palm, my heart gradually calmed down. I turned to look at the leader of the lithium forces, my eyes filled with determination.

"Lithium leader, I will not agree to the conditions you have proposed." The lithium leader's expression changed; he hadn't expected me to be so firm.

He narrowed his eyes, staring intently at me, and said, word by word, "Nong Yu, you'd better think carefully about who you're talking to!"

I met his gaze without flinching: "I know who I'm talking to, and I know what I'm doing. Peace is not something you can destroy alone!" No sooner had I finished speaking than a commotion erupted outside the council chamber.

Immediately afterwards, a voice resounded throughout the hall: "Who dares to touch my man!" Su Yao... she...
