Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 173 Alliance Resolves Grudges, Building Peace Together
The deep roar of the Shadow Leopard still echoed in my ears, and the smell of gunpowder filled the air. Although we had won this battle, I knew this was just the beginning. The sinister look in the eyes of the lithium faction leader told me that the real challenge was yet to come.
The grudges between the various parties have been brewing for a long time, and cannot be easily resolved with a single battle. "The real test is yet to come," I said in a deep voice, watching the battlefield gradually dissipate.
Su Yao walked to my side and gently rested her head on my shoulder. I could smell the faint fragrance in her hair.
“I know what you’re worried about, but don’t forget, we have allies,” she said softly, her voice firm.
The Boron Beastmaster approached, a grave expression on his face. "Nong Yu is right. Although we won this battle, the conflicts between the various factions remain unresolved. What we need to do next is to defuse these grievances and rebuild peace." I nodded, glancing at the Nitrogen Envoy in the distance. He had been tirelessly traveling between the various factions, attempting to facilitate peace negotiations, but with little success.
This victory might bring him a glimmer of hope.
The three of us walked toward the Nitrogen Messenger. Along the way, I saw many beast tamers from small and medium-sized forces looking at us with awe.
The previous battles showed them our strength and made them trust us.
"Nong Yu, Su Yao, Boron Beast Tamer, thank you for your help!" Nitrogen Messenger excitedly greeted them. "This victory has brought new hope to the peace negotiations!"
I smiled slightly. "Nitrogen Envoy, you have been working hard for peace. We have only done our part. Next, we need to work together to persuade other forces to put aside their hatred and sit down for a proper talk." In the following days, we visited various small and medium-sized forces with the Nitrogen Envoy.
With our previous prestige and Su Yao's assistance, we successfully persuaded many forces to put aside their hatred and express their willingness to negotiate a solution to the conflict.
Seeing more and more people willing to join the ranks of peace, the Nitrogen Messenger smiled with satisfaction.
However, not all powers are willing to accept the olive branch of peace. Some large powers, especially those closely associated with lithium, are hostile towards us.
They refused to speak to us and even secretly sent beast tamers to harass us. One evening, Su Yao and I were discussing our next plan.
Su Yao leaned gently on my shoulder, her breathing soft and even, which made me feel at ease. Suddenly, a rapid knocking broke the silence.
Boron Beastmaster rushed in, looking panicked. "It's terrible! Elder Carbon... he..." Boron Beastmaster was covered in sweat, his face was deathly pale, and his words were broken. "Elder Carbon... he's been attacked!" My heart sank. Elder Carbon was highly respected and a key figure in this peace negotiation. If something happened to him, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"What happened?" I asked hurriedly, a surge of anger rising within me.
Su Yao stood up from beside me, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes. "Beast Tamer Boron, tell me slowly, what exactly happened?" Beast Tamer Boron took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. "Just now, Elder Tan was ambushed on his way back to the camp. The attackers were extremely powerful, and... and they were ruthless..."
"How is Elder Carbon now?" I asked anxiously. "His life is not in danger, but his injuries are serious, and he is unconscious," the Beastmaster Boron said in a heavy tone.
A chill ran from the soles of my feet to the top of my head. I clenched my fists so tightly my nails almost dug into my flesh. Who was it? Who dared to attack Elder Tan at this critical juncture?
Su Yao gently took my hand; her hand was warm and strong, giving me a sense of comfort.
“Nong Yu, calm down. We must find the murderer first.” Her gaze was firm, and her tone carried an undeniable force.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. “Beastmaster Boron, do you know who the attackers are?” Beastmaster Boron shook his head. “There were no clues left at the scene, but according to Elder Carbon’s guards, the beasts the attackers used were extremely rare. I suspect…” He paused, his tone grave, “I suspect it was done by the Lithium faction.”
"Lithium forces..." I gritted my teeth, my anger surging. They were clearly trying to sabotage the peace negotiations!
Over the next few days, we cared for Elder Tan, who remained unconscious, while secretly investigating the attack.
We discovered that the lithium forces not only secretly attacked Elder Carbon, but also spread rumors that our side had ulterior motives and intended to manipulate other forces in order to undermine the trust we had worked so hard to build.
Some forces that had initially agreed to join the peace talks began to waver, even openly questioning our motives. The dawn of peace seemed to be obscured by a thick layer of dark clouds.
Late at night, I sat on the edge of the bed, watching Su Yao sleep soundly. She leaned gently against my shoulder, her breathing even and soft.
I gently stroked her hair, inhaling its faint fragrance, my heart filled with weariness and helplessness. "What should we do?" I murmured to myself.
Su Yao seemed to hear what I said. She opened her eyes groggily, her eyes filled with concern.
"What's wrong, Nong Yu?" I told her what had happened, and Su Yao frowned after hearing it.
“The lithium industry is going all out,” she said coldly. “They know we are trying to resolve the grievances between the parties, so they are trying every means to sabotage us.”
“But what should we do now? Elder Tan is seriously injured and unconscious, and other forces have become suspicious of us. The peace negotiations have almost reached a stalemate.” I felt a sense of helplessness. Su Yao sat up, her eyes shining with determination.
"Nong Yu, don't be discouraged, we haven't lost yet! We must find evidence to prove the lithium forces' conspiracy and regain the trust of the other forces!" Looking into her determined eyes, a glimmer of hope ignited in my heart.
“Yes, we cannot give up! For the sake of peace, we must persevere!” The next day, we began to collect evidence of the lithium forces spreading rumors.
Meanwhile, the Boron Beastmasters intensified their investigation into the perpetrators of the attack on Elder Carbon and made some breakthroughs.
After much effort, we finally found enough evidence to prove that lithium-related forces were behind the scheme. We made this evidence public, exposing the lithium-related forces' conspiracy.
Those forces that had been misled finally saw the truth, condemning the lithium forces' despicable actions and reaffirming their support for peace negotiations. The signing of a peace agreement was finally on the agenda. All parties gathered, but the atmosphere was unusually tense.
Looking at the complex expressions on the representatives' faces, I felt a vague unease creeping into my heart. The Beastmaster walked to my side and whispered, "Nong Yu, be careful, things... might not be that simple..."
