Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 142 The Exploration Begins Amidst Peril
Pushing open the gate to the secret realm, the expected resistance did not appear. Instead, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of damp earth caressed my face, like a tender invitation.
However, beneath this calm surface, a turbulent undercurrent was brewing. I keenly sensed something amiss; a faint, almost imperceptible, smell of blood filled the air. Had I not been tempered by experience during this period, making my senses exceptionally sharp, I probably would have overlooked this dangerous signal.
"Watch out!" I shouted in a low voice, pulling Su Yao behind me and signaling the Beastmaster and the Green Girl to be on high alert.
The scenery inside the secret realm is completely different from the outside. Towering ancient trees block out the sun, and the ground is covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves that make a "rustling" sound when stepped on, adding to the eerie atmosphere.
The surroundings were eerily quiet. I took a deep breath and slowly released my beast-taming power, attempting to communicate with the creatures around me.
A strange fluctuation emanated from my body, spreading out like ripples, but the information that returned made my heart tighten.
Countless tiny, densely packed life forms lurk in the shadows, their presence faint yet brimming with aggression, like venomous snakes lying in wait, poised to strike.
"Did you find anything?" Su Yao asked with concern, holding my arm tightly, and I could feel her slight trembling.
I briefly told them what I had sensed: “We are surrounded. There are many of them, but they are not strong individually. They seem to be wary of something and dare not attack rashly.”
"Fear? Fear what?" Green Girl's voice trembled slightly. After all, she had no ability to control beasts, and it was inevitable that she would feel fear when faced with unknown dangers.
I shook my head, preparing to investigate further, when suddenly, a rustling sound came from the bushes on the left. Immediately afterwards, several dark figures darted out like lightning, rushing straight at us!
"Get out of the way!" I shouted, releasing my beast-taming power to form a barrier in front of me.
The dark figure struck the barrier with a dull thud, then quickly retreated into the bushes and disappeared.
"That was close!" Huang Yushou wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. "These guys are really fast. If it weren't for Brother Nong's timely reaction, we would probably be in trouble."
I did not let my guard down. The attack just now was just a test. The real danger was yet to come.
“They are testing our strength,” I said in a deep voice. “We must find a safe place as soon as possible before making any further plans.”
Thanks to my special beast-taming ability, I can vaguely sense the approximate location of dangerous creatures. Although I cannot pinpoint their exact location, it is enough for us to avoid direct confrontation.
We carefully navigated through the dense jungle, trying to make no noise and avoid the dangers lurking in the shadows.
After walking for about an hour, we came to a relatively open valley. In the center of the valley was a clear spring, surrounded by some strange plants that emitted a faint fragrance.
“It feels safer here,” said Huang Yushouzhe. “Let’s rest here for a bit and replenish our strength.”
I nodded and was about to sit down when suddenly, a strong sense of crisis surged into my heart... Senior Orange's voice came from afar, "Children, be careful! That's not spring water..." Senior Orange's voice was like a thunderclap. I turned around sharply and saw that the once clear spring water was now churning with strange dark green foam, and a nauseating stench hit me.
Before anyone could react, a huge bubble suddenly rose from the center of the spring and burst with a "bang," revealing a massive figure slowly rising from the water.
It was a creature resembling a giant python, covered in dark green scales, exuding a suffocating aura.
Its scarlet eyes stared intently at us, its huge forked tongue flicking in and out, emitting a chilling hiss.
"It's an elf from the secret realm!" Huang, the Beastmaster, exclaimed. "A powerful creature that guards the legendary secret realm, with strength comparable to a Beastmaster Grandmaster!" My heart sank. A Beastmaster Grandmaster!
This is far beyond what we can currently handle. Su Yao held my arm tightly, her body trembling slightly. She looked at me and said, "Yu, I feel at ease with you here."
Her eyes were full of adoration, but that adoration felt like a mountain pressing down on my shoulders, making it hard to breathe. I had to protect her, and protect everyone.
"Run!" I shouted, grabbing Su Yao and running towards the edge of the valley. The Yellow Beastmaster and the Green Girl followed closely behind. We ran with all our might, not daring to look back.
The giant python let out a deafening roar, its massive body writhing as it chased after us. The ground trembled violently, trees collapsed one after another, and we felt as if we were in the midst of the apocalypse.
Just then, I saw several familiar figures appear in the distance—it was the Purple Beastmaster and his subordinates! They had also entered the secret realm.
Unlike us, they didn't panic and flee. Instead, they stood aside with great interest, watching us being chased by the giant python, a gloating smile on their faces.
"Damn it!" I cursed under my breath. The Purple Beastmaster was obviously deliberately getting close to us, trying to seize the initiative while we were entangled by the giant python.
I tried to stay calm, dodging the giant python's attacks while thinking of a solution. The python was incredibly fast; we couldn't shake it off at all.
If this continues, it will catch up with us sooner or later. Suddenly, a possibility occurred to me.
I stopped, turned to face the giant python, took a deep breath, released my beast-taming power, and tried to communicate with it.
“Great spirit of the secret realm,” I conveyed my message to it with my mental power, “we have no ill intentions, we have simply strayed into your territory by mistake, and we are willing to leave immediately, please spare our lives.”
The giant python seemed to pause for a moment, its scarlet eyes flashing with confusion. It stopped attacking, its massive head slowly lowering as if considering my words.
Just when I thought there was hope, the Purple Beastmaster suddenly burst into laughter: "Hahaha, Nong Yu, you think you can communicate with the spirits in the secret realm? That's wishful thinking! It will only tear you to pieces!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the giant python let out an angry roar and lunged at us again. It seemed that the Purple Beastmaster's words had enraged it.
I cursed under my breath and pulled Su Yao away again. We ran desperately along the edge of the valley.
The giant python pursued relentlessly, and we could almost smell its foul stench. Finally, we escaped the valley and entered a much denser forest.
The forest was dimly lit, with trees blocking out the sun, creating a sense of oppression. I could hear low growls all around me, but I couldn't see any dangerous creatures.
"Wait..." I grabbed Su Yao, held my breath, and listened carefully to the sounds around us. "It sounds like something..."
