His words, coupled with his expression, conveyed a sense of sadness. Seeing Geng Miaowan look up at him, he continued before she could speak, "Just a few years ago, I was still a human being, but now I can only be considered a pathogen carrying a virus."

His words finally made Geng Miaowan raise her head. She looked at him, her face full of surprise, "Virus?"

“Yes, to be precise, it’s a virus with a code name.” Qiu Pi rested his elbows on his thighs, looking at his crossed hands with a somewhat sorrowful expression. “This is a secret within the Arans Corporation, a secret known only to a few of us infected individuals.”

"Since it's a secret, then let's not talk about it." Geng Miaowan remembered seeing something about viruses turning people into vampires before, but no one had ever been able to find a real vampire to prove this point. Now, there were actually two living examples in front of her, which piqued her interest. However, she already knew that these kinds of people's feelings were generally different from hers as the listener, so if the other party didn't want to talk about it, she wouldn't force them. As long as it confirmed what she thought, that was enough.

Qiu Pi seemed surprised that she would refuse so directly. Usually, when people encounter this kind of thing, they would be full of curiosity and ask why they got infected, where they got infected, and who else was infected. Why did she seem to have no interest at all?

"I didn't mean to hide it from you. I was just afraid that if you knew, you would be scared, I..."

“I understand,” Geng Miaowan interrupted him. “I’m glad you told me the truth. Now I can tell you that I’m not afraid, nor will I treat you differently because of this. You are you. Mr. Qiu as I know you. That’s all.”

"Thank you!"

"If you've finished speaking, then please leave. I want to rest." Geng Miaowan bluntly and directly gave him the order to leave.

Qiu Pi's smile returned, and he said calmly, "Excuse me. I've disturbed you," before turning to leave. As he reached the door, Geng Miaowan's voice came from behind him, "Mr. Qiu!"

He stopped and turned around, puzzled. She asked again, "You drink blood too?"

“I…yes, I also suck blood.” He said somewhat excitedly, “I only suck blood plasma bought from hospitals, and I never suck blood directly from people or animals.”

He paused here before continuing, "I'm sorry, if it weren't for me, he wouldn't have come looking for you."

Geng Miaowan didn't know how to react, but after all, he wasn't the one who sucked the blood. So she didn't want to say anything more to him. She simply replied, "It's none of your business, I'm just unlucky."

She couldn't very well say that she was just too curious and willingly offered herself up to Peng Yuxian to leech off her.

After Qiu Pi left, Geng Miaowan discussed his words with Xu Ruwen and Huangfu Aoxuan. Now that Luan Hao had joined in, it became even more lively. Everyone chimed in with their own comments, making it quite a lively scene.

The next morning, as soon as Geng Miaowan came out of her room, Xu Ruwen placed a newspaper in front of her. The headline, printed in blood-red characters, read: "A Desiccated Female Corpse Found in the Suburbs."

The gist of the story is that early this morning, a shriveled female corpse was found on the outskirts of the city. The death was extremely gruesome, and the cause of death is still under investigation.

“I’ve already checked online. Strange female corpses often appear here. According to the descriptions, the manner of death is similar to this one, so the cause of death should be the same.”

The word "shriveled" immediately brought to her mind Peng Yuxian and Qiu Pi, because only vampires would drain a person's blood completely.

When Geng Miaowan placed the newspaper in front of Luan Hao, who was eating, he put down his knife and fork, picked up the tablecloth, and slowly wiped his mouth with an extremely elegant and charming gesture.

"I didn't do it," he denied simply and clearly.

"Who was it?" Geng Miaowan stared at him, not wanting to miss any expression on his face. "You must know who did it, right?"

Qiu Pi also looked at her, "A member of the Silver Alliance, and looking at this person's death, although he was shriveled, he was very intact. The only person who could do that is Scarlet, the leader of the Silver Alliance."

"You mean Peng Yuxian!" Geng Miaowan stood up in surprise, her voice rising a few decibels as she thought of how he had almost drained her blood that day.

Qiu Pi shrugged, his face still bearing that gentle expression, looking at her with a half-smile, "I didn't say it was him, you said it."

Geng Miaowan then remembered what he had told her: they didn't have direct evidence to prove that Peng Yuxian was Scarlet from the Silver Alliance. "Then... is there any way to find out if he did it?"

Qiu Pi shook his head. "Fei Se is always very careful in her work and never leaves any clues for others, so there is no way to investigate her."

That makes things a bit complicated. If it were anything else, Geng Miaowan might not have cared, but she felt that this matter was related to her mission. If several shriveled corpses appeared every day, wouldn't humanity have been terrified long ago?

But they didn't do that. Could there be some kind of conspiracy involved? Could it be the conspiracy she mentioned in her mission?

Thinking of this, Geng Miaowan felt a slight surge of excitement.

In the evening, Peng Yuxian sent someone to pick her up for dinner. She originally intended to refuse, but when she thought of the mummified corpse in the newspaper, she agreed to go.

This is a very standard Chinese restaurant, with elegant and tasteful decor that is sophisticated without being vulgar. The environment is quite nice, at least Geng Miaowan thought it was pretty good after seeing it.

Even during dinner time, there weren't many people eating in the restaurant; people here were clearly more interested in drinking nutritional water and taking nutritional supplements.

However, Peng Yuxian somehow found out about her preferences and specially arranged to come here to cater to them.

The man led Geng Miaowan to a private room and said to her, "Miss Geng, our young master has something to attend to and will be here shortly. Please wait here for a moment."

Geng Miaowan nodded, and the person left. (To be continued.)
