Hearing her say that, Lu Shuaishuai's face showed a rare smile, but his face was so pale that it was heartbreaking.

When Geng Miaowan led Lu Shuaishuai by the hand and walked among the children, the homeroom teacher looked at her as if she were an alien. She simply smiled and led Lu Shuaishuai to play with the other children.

Unbeknownst to her, Peng Yuxian happened to be passing by and came in to take a look. Through the school's security cameras, he saw her every move on the playground from the security room.

Although he couldn't hear their voices, just watching the interaction between their actions was enough to amaze him.

Surprisingly, she actually succeeded.

When Geng Miaowan came out, she saw Peng Yuxian waiting at the door.

"Why are you here?" She didn't think he had come to pick her up out of kindness.

"I was just passing by on business," he said, glancing at her. "What did you and Lu Shuaishuai talk about on the playground?"

A conversation that lasted nearly half an hour—that's definitely a record-breaking one.

"You knew already?"

"I just happened to see it." Peng Yuxian shrugged dismissively.

Geng Miaowan waved her phone, "I have something good here."

Peng Yuxian was surprised that this young girl, who knew nothing and had never even worked as an assistant, could think of turning on the recording the moment Lu Shuaishuai spoke. This was truly remarkable.

While driving, he listened to the conversation between Geng Miaowan and Lu Shuaishuai that she had recorded. By the time they got home, he had listened to it at least ten times. He carefully considered and analyzed every word Lu Shuaishuai said. He even copied the recording from the security guard beforehand. As soon as he got home, he went into his study and studied the video on the computer along with the conversation on Geng Miaowan's phone.

Geng Miaowan ignored him and went inside to cook. After all, she wasn't a psychology expert, nor did she have any professional knowledge to analyze these things.

Even after she finished cooking, Peng Yuxian remained engrossed in his study.

When Peng Yuxian came out of the study, it was already past ten o'clock. He rubbed his empty stomach and realized that he hadn't eaten yet. The living room light was on, and on the dining table next to him was a very ordinary four-dish-and-one-soup meal. Each dish looked fresh from the pot and hadn't been touched.

He looked around. He couldn't find Geng Miaowan anywhere, only a tuft of black hair peeking out from behind the sofa.

Peng Yuxian walked over and saw Geng Miaowan leaning against the sofa, fast asleep.

The girl who suddenly appeared in his field of vision always gave him a different feeling. Every time he realized that this was her, she would do something that refreshed his understanding of her.

Although Geng Miaowan looked slightly tired while sleeping, her expression was gentle and peaceful, with her brows relaxed, as if there was nothing in this world that could bother her. She could leave without a trace, no matter what.

This feeling made her inexplicably uncomfortable. He withdrew his hand, which he had been trying to use to wake her, and abruptly turned and went back to his study.

The next morning, Geng Miaowan sat on the sofa, looking confused. She couldn't understand how she had fallen asleep there. She stood up. Her body ached all over from sleeping in the wrong position all night.

What frustrated her was that Peng Yuxian had already left. In other words, he clearly saw her asleep on the sofa but didn't wake her up, or even cover her with a blanket.

After a night of air conditioning, if it weren't for her extraordinary constitution as a cultivator, she probably would have caught a cold by now. She thought he was really a bit inexplicable.

That day, when kindergarten let out, all the other children's families had picked them up, leaving only Lu Shuaishuai in the entire class.

The homeroom teacher was supposed to wait until the very end, but she had something to do that evening, so she asked Geng Miaowan to wait with Lu Shuaishuai a little longer. Geng Miaowan figured she had nothing else to do, so she agreed.

"Thank you, Miaowan," the homeroom teacher said.

Geng Miaowan smiled and said, "It's okay, you can go now if you have something to do."

It wasn't until it was almost dark that Lu Fangtong hurriedly arrived. As soon as he saw Geng Miaowan, his face was full of apologies. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Something came up at the factory and I was busy until now before I got back."

"It's alright," Geng Miaowan said with a smile, showing no displeasure at being late. She handed the child to Lu Fangtong and said, "Since you're here, Shuai Shuai is yours now."

Lu Fangtong took Lu Shuaishuai's hand and said, "Teacher Geng, I would like to ask for a few days' leave for Shuaishuai."

Geng Miaowan stopped leaving and asked in confusion, "Why? Shuai Shuai's performance has improved a lot these past few days. I think he will perform even better if given more time."

“I know that Shuai Shuai’s condition has indeed improved a lot these past few days, but…” Lu Fangtong thought for a moment and decided to tell her the truth, “There are some things at the factory that I need to do on a business trip to the province overnight. The child will be home alone with no one to take care of him. I’m thinking of sending him to my mother’s place so she can help look after him for a few days.”

"Home alone?" Geng Miaowan asked, puzzled. "Where's Shuai Shuai's mother?"

A fleeting look of sadness crossed Lu Fangtong's face. "To be honest, my wife... she hasn't been doing well these past few days. I'm worried about leaving the child with her alone, so I've sent her back to the city to be cared for by my mother-in-law."

Hearing him say that, Geng Miaowan also felt a little uncomfortable.

Seeing that she didn't speak, Lu Fangtong thanked her again and said, "Then I'll take the child back first. I need to pack my things and take him to his grandmother's house."

Lu Shuaishuai stood quietly to the side the whole time, only showing slight dissatisfaction when he heard that he was going to be taken to his grandmother's house. Geng Miaowan looked down and asked him, and he said, "I don't want to go to my grandmother's house."

"why?"

"Xiaoming is waiting for me at home. He will be sad if I'm not home."

Hearing him say that, Lu Fangtong's expression changed, and he gently tugged at his hand, saying, "Don't talk nonsense."

"I wasn't talking nonsense. Xiaoming was just waiting for me at home to play together!" Lu Shuaishuai insisted.

Lu Fangtong ignored him, only saying something to Geng Miaowan before pulling Lu Shuaishuai along and turning to leave. As they walked, Lu Shuaishuai repeated, "I didn't say anything wrong, Xiaoming was just waiting for me at home to play together!" (To be continued.)
