Rebirth: I Became a Maggot 2
Chapter 39 Watermelon-flavored Xylitol
Just when I was almost at my wit's end, the conversation between the soldier and the ant leader caught my attention.
How could it be poison? It was just something stuck in my mouth while I was chewing gum.
That's why they thought it was poison, but I know how to use that chewing gum.
So I quickly asked them to carry the chewing gum and xylitol to the lobby for me, and since it had just rained, water wasn't a problem.
As expected, many ants have great power; in no time, a large number of ants carried what I needed to the hall.
Looking at the chewing gum, xylitol, and water they had found, the ants were in a difficult situation. They had nothing to carry, so they used rainwater from the leaves to carry the water with them.
"We've brought you everything you asked for. What are you going to do next?" the ant leader asked curiously.
"Exactly, what's the use of these things? Can they really help us win this battle?" the soldier asked curiously.
"Don't rush, it's not the right time yet. Can someone go and find that little hamster for me? I need it." I said very seriously.
"What do we need hamsters for? What will happen to the elevator if hamsters come?" the team leader said, clearly displeased.
"We're about to go to war, what's the point of keeping the elevator? Are we going to use it to send the enemy up? And is it safe to leave the little hamster there?" I yelled, annoyed. Damn it, my direct supervisor is such a hassle, always needing to explain things.
"Okay, I'll go now," the ant leader said, still somewhat reluctantly.
After saying that, he left, but he looked like he was forced to. After all, I had the authority given to me by the Queen Ant, so I went even though I was unwilling.
Soon the cute little hamster was brought over. The ants around clearly recognized the little hamster, so the little hamster didn't seem nervous.
Seeing the xylitol on the ground, I was overjoyed and immediately wanted to eat it, but just as I was about to eat it, the leader of the ants stopped me: "You can't eat that, it's poisonous."
The little hamster still wanted to eat. Its cute little eyes stared longingly at the xylitol and then at the leading ant. It looked so pitiful and adorable that it almost melted my heart.
"It's alright, let her eat it. I called him up here so he could eat this chewing gum and xylitol," I said to the ant leader.
"What? You're trying to kill her? How can she eat this? What if she gets poisoned? Even if she doesn't die, it'll be tough if she becomes mute and can't speak." The leader of the ants was so angry he almost jumped up, and said very unhappily.
Seeing the leader ant's surprise, I crawled straight towards the xylitol and took a bite.
My original plan was to take a bite, put it in my mouth and chew it, then blow a bubble, and tell them in a very impressive way that it wasn't poisonous.
However, showing off always comes at a price. I took a bite and realized I had no teeth. And xylitol was so hard that even a child with teeth might not be able to bite it, let alone me now.
I awkwardly bit into the edge of a small piece of xylitol, it was so embarrassing...
He tried to bite it but couldn't. This attempt to show off is so embarrassing.
"Hey you, come over here and get me a small piece." I said to the soldier not far away, feeling quite annoyed.
"Me? Are you sure it's me?" the soldier said, quite annoyed.
"It's you. Start the IV drip and cut me a small piece." I said, quite annoyed.
The soldier, looking quite dejected, crawled over and, with a look of grim determination, took a bite of the sweet and sour sauce.
Ants have powerful teeth; they took off a small piece of xylitol vinegar in just a few bites.
"Here, take it." His face looked as if he had really taken poison.
The soldier handed me that small piece of xylitol with a rather tragic air, but I felt bad too, because there were still traces of his saliva on the xylitol.
I originally wanted to take a bite myself to show them that it wasn't poisonous, but that they were using the wrong method. However, looking at the saliva on it, I suddenly felt conflicted.
How am I supposed to eat this? I feel like crying. Why is it so hard to just show off?
I almost cried. How am I supposed to eat this? Am I supposed to eat the saliva of those ants?
I swallowed hard. To survive, I had no choice but to eat; otherwise, the rest of the plan couldn't be carried out.
So I could only use my tail to take that small piece of xylitol and start chewing it.
"Twenty-two cents! What are you going to do?" Dafu next to me shouted nervously.
"What are you going to do?" the soldier asked nervously.
But I had already popped it into my mouth while they were shouting. The small piece of xylitol felt as hard as a small stone when I put it in my mouth.
I could only keep using my saliva to soften the xylitol so that it wouldn't be so difficult to chew.
"Are you alright, Yimao Er?" Dafu asked anxiously after seeing that I had already eaten.
"Are you alright? Please don't die. What if the Queen blames you if you die?" The soldier was extremely worried.
But what does that mean? It's not that you're worried about me, it's that you're worried about whether you'll die!
I'm chewing xylitol right now, so I don't have time to chat with them. They can worry about their own things, I'm just chewing. After a lot of chewing, that damn xylitol finally started to soften.
I was incredibly proud of myself. I could finally show off! I immediately started blowing bubbles.
But to my dismay, I couldn't blow it out and almost spat it out. I'm so tired. Why is trying to show off so exhausting?
Sigh, I gave up on pretending, so I spat out the xylitol in my mouth.
"Are you alright? Can you still talk? You're not dead, are you?" Dafu asked excitedly when he saw me spit out a piece of chewing gum.
"It's all over, it's all over. It's all turned red!" the soldier cried out anxiously, looking at the chewing gum on the ground.
"It's okay, you won't die. It tastes like watermelon, so red is perfectly normal," I said, speechless.
Seeing that I could still speak and was still alive, everyone looked at me with surprise.
They couldn't believe I was still alive. I originally wanted to blow a bubble to show off, but the result after I chewed it and swallowed it was even better than I expected.
