My Apocalypse: Infinite Rewinds

Chapter 117 It's all your fault for being too naive

"Ah~~ I slept so well." Li Kai yawned and slowly woke up from his dream. It was rare for him to be able to sleep so well, even though his current situation was not very good.

After a brief moment of mental clarity, Li Kai looked at the closed door with a puzzled expression. "Huh? That's strange. Judging from the sun outside, it's almost ten o'clock, isn't it? Why hasn't anyone come looking for us? Have they forgotten?"

"No, no, that's impossible. No one would make such a basic mistake unless they encountered an unsolvable problem!"

Li Kai immediately rejected his own idea, but the next guess surprised him even more. If that's the case, it might be even worse, and I also have the potential to be a jinx.

"Wait, there seems to be a sound outside!" Li Kai suddenly stopped guessing; there was something unusual coming from outside the window.

A series of muffled crashes echoed in the distance, the sounds of heavy objects hitting the ground reaching Li Kai's ears. Even he, inside the room, could feel a slight tremor.

"Sniff"

Upon smelling the faint scent of blood in the air, Li Kai's pupils constricted sharply, and he exclaimed in disbelief, "This scent... it may be faint, but it's blood!"

"Eek, what happened?" Xueying, who had been woken up, slowly opened her sleepy eyes and asked lazily, without any sense of alertness.

"This is probably a big problem," Li Kai couldn't help but say, looking at the flying debris and the rows of collapsed houses outside the window.

"Thump!!" With a loud crash, the priceless wooden door, unable to withstand the weight, was instantly smashed to pieces, and what came head-on was a flying sphere.

"Speak of the devil and he appears! Isn't that a bit much?"

"Cough cough," the sphere struggled to move its body after crashing into the wall. From its blood-stained face, it was clear that this was the "honest" big man, but his current situation was not good.

"Wow, that fleshy missile is really something. I give it full marks for its entrance." Li Kai couldn't help but exclaim. Although he didn't know what had happened, he had to give this scene credit, otherwise it would be a disservice to his previous attitude.

"So strong! Absolutely unbeatable." Wang Gang seemed oblivious to Li Kai's exclamation, instead wallowing in self-pity. His body was covered in countless cuts, but none of them hit any vital spots, indicating that it was intentional.

"Hey, hey, what exactly happened?" Li Kai shouted loudly. How did this guy suddenly turn into a madman?

“They’re all dead, all of them are dead. This difference…” Wang Gang continued to be gripped by his fear, losing all awareness of his surroundings.

"Wow, you really are—"

"Looks like this is the spot. Lucky me, I just happened to be here!" Before Li Kai could finish speaking, a relaxed voice reached his ears again.

"This guy is terrifying!!" Li Kai's heart pounded as he watched the man walk in leisurely. He felt a constant sense of dread, as if he were being stared at by a wild beast.

Tall and slender, he wore a long black robe, and a bloodthirsty smile graced his handsome face. Fine black hair slightly obscured his vision, but the menacing red light emanating from him was unmistakable. Two rectangular pouches, the contents of which were unclear, were tucked into his waistband, and in his hand was a long sword completely stained with blood.

Was this the guy I had a premonition about last night?! At this moment, Li Kai finally understood the source of that ominous premonition.

"Be careful. Although the memory is vague, it should be this one." Xueying had unknowingly cut the rope and silently came up behind Li Kai.

"I know without you saying it," Li Kai said with a bitter smile. Those who come with ill intentions never come with good intentions. Why do I always encounter things like this?

“Now that we’ve found the rightful owner, the toy is no longer of any use.” The man clapped his hands happily, like a child, except for his blood-stained clothes.

"No, no! I brought you all the way here, please let me go, please let me go!" Upon hearing that he had lost his value, Wang Gang trembled all over and instantly knelt on the ground, begging for mercy without any dignity.

"Hmm, that request isn't impossible. Here's what we'll do: if we can break the weapon in your hand, you can leave." The man pondered for a moment, then casually snapped his fingers.

"Change it," Wang Gang asked hesitantly, his face turning deathly pale.

"Huh?" Before he could finish speaking, a terrifying chill instantly enveloped his body, startling him so much that he quickly took back what he had said.

"I'll do it, I'll do it right away!" Wang Gang, thinking only of his own life, didn't consider anything else and just kept fawning over him.

"Hey, hey, what are you guys talking about? I don't understand a word!" Li Kai interrupted from the side, clearly showing no awareness of being a prisoner.

"Xiao Hong, I'm so sorry, I had no choice." Wang Gang said apologetically, holding a twisted weapon that resembled a scimitar in his hand.

The blade trembled violently, as if it were constantly trying to tell a story.

"No way, could the weapon in his hand be... what he wants?!" Li Kai exclaimed in surprise as he watched this scene.

"Crack!" Wang Gang twisted the blade with both hands, and it snapped in two. The woman, coughing up blood, collapsed to the ground with a tragic expression. Wang Gang also spat out a mouthful of blood. The invisible chain connecting the two was severed.

"How could you do this to me? I... what the hell—" The woman pointed tremblingly at Wang Gang not far away. As a weapon conjured by an infected person, there was only one way to break it.

"They'd go to this lengths to save their own lives," Li Kai thought, looking at Xue Ying behind him. If it were him...

"Brother, can I leave now?" Wang Gang pretended not to hear and looked at the man ingratiatingly.

"Okay, you can go now," the man said casually, waving his hand.

"Thanks, I'll be going now. Uh, you broke your promise!!" Before he could take two steps, Wang Gang felt a sharp pain in his chest and stared wide-eyed at the long knife that had pierced through his body.

"A slip of the tongue? Didn't I let you go? But I never said I wouldn't kill you!" the man said doubtfully, then delivered a heavy blow to the man, so he could go to hell in peace. Hah, it turns out he was just too naive.

"Sigh, to believe such a plan is just too stupid, isn't it?" Li Kai shook his head and sighed after witnessing all of this.

"The entertainment is over, now it's time for the main course!" After enjoying the show, the man looked at Li Kai excitedly, "Nice to meet you, please take care of me!"
