Infinite: Dawn Game

Chapter 18 Absurd Town

Fang Zhi shuddered, his body stiffening abruptly when he recognized the face in the photograph. He then shook his head in a hoarse voice:

"No, I haven't."

The person in the photo is a pale-skinned boy who is holding a fruit knife and stabbing it into the heart of a monster. His face is splattered with the monster's scarlet blood, and his eyes are filled with madness and excitement.

That face belonged to Yu Shijiu.

The man in black robes didn't notice that Fang Zhi was lying. He irritably cracked his knuckles and then raised his hand:

"Let's go look somewhere else."

Fang Zhi breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, and was about to walk into the "pupa shop" when someone suddenly jumped out in front of him.

The man with the pointed mouth had a thick bandage wrapped around his hand, and the malicious smile on his face looked like a devil in Fang Zhi's eyes.

"you--"

Fang Zhi instinctively reached out to grab the man with the pointed beak, but the latter nimbly dodged his outstretched hand and shouted at the black-robed man who had already walked out the door:

"Sir! I know! I know where the person in the photo is!"

Fang Zhi's outstretched hand froze in mid-air, and he could only watch helplessly as the sharp-mouthed man ran forward and, as if seeking credit, embellished the story of Yu Shijiu and told the man in black robes everything.

The leader of the black-robed men listened quietly to everything the sharp-beaked man said, and then said:

"Then he must really hate you."

"Huh?" The man with the pointed beak was taken aback, not quite understanding why the man in black robes suddenly said that, and scratched his head, saying:

"I don't know, I didn't do anything, that kid was just too arrogant—ahhh—"

The man with the pointed beak had his arm ripped off by the man in black robes. As blood spurted out, all four men in black robes took a few steps back.

The black-robed man who was holding the pointed-beaked man's arm disgustedly tossed the arm into the arms of the black-robed man behind him.

"Wrap this filth up."

The man in black seemed to chuckle: "Pack it carefully, this is a welcome gift for our new partner."

"Yes."

The black-robed man, who was holding his arm, responded and quickly wrapped the severed arm in a black cloth.

The surrounding players watched in terror as the sharp-beaked man lay on the ground screaming, not daring to utter a single word.

Not long ago, he was mocking Fang Zhi for being disabled, but now he has become so-called disabled himself.

Fang Zhi stood frozen in place. He could clearly feel the man in black robes glance at him as he left, as if he thought the man was useless and left without lingering.

Fang Zhi only dared to move after the man in black left.

He wiped the cold sweat from his brow and walked over to the sharp-mouthed man who was still screaming in pain.

"Are you ok?"

The man with the pointed mouth clutched his severed arm and screamed pitifully. Hearing this, he felt that Fang Zhi was mocking him, and shouted in a shrill voice:

"It's all your fault! It's all because of you, you cripple!! So what if you give me that recovery potion? It's just a hundred points! Ahhhhh, my arm, my arm!!! Give me back my arm!!"

Fang Zhi stopped talking.

He looked down at the pointed-mouthed man on the ground, a smile more painful than a grimace appearing on his face:

"I'm not alone anymore."

Fang Zhi murmured, "You're disabled too."

After saying that, he ignored the foul-mouthed man on the ground who was cursing him with profanities and went to find his "pupa" without looking back.

As he passed a woman holding a child, she hesitated and tugged at his sleeve.

Fang Zhi stopped and turned to look at her.

The woman hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "Will the child be alright?"

When Yu Shijiu stepped forward and pierced the sharp-mouthed man's palm, the woman probably recognized his back.

It was the person who threw her a lollipop yesterday.

Fang Zhi wanted to nod, but in the end he just shook his head and said:

"I do not know."

The woman stopped talking.

She looked down at the child sleeping soundly in her arms, undisturbed by the noise, and sighed silently.

--------

Yu Shijiu stood by the roadside, gazing at the towering skyscrapers across the street for a long time, before finally deciding to go and take a look.

Although the "Chrysalis Shop" is cheap, the chances of getting any information are extremely slim. He estimated that apart from Fang Zhi, no one else in the entire "Chrysalis Shop" knew anything.

I still have 1500 points, which is enough.

Thinking of this, Yu Shijiu walked towards the road without any burden.

Just as Anjie had said, after crossing the road, he heard a notification that 240 points had been automatically deducted.

Yu Shijiu ignored it and walked straight into the high-rise building that was completely different from the one behind him.

Completely different from the cramped and dark "pupa shop", the town, although it is called a town on the surface, looks almost the same as a first-tier city in reality. The only difference between the two should be the size.

Yu Shijiu glanced over the obviously bustling buildings and shopping malls around him and looked toward the square where a crowd of people were gathered and cheering not far away.

The plaza had a cyberpunk feel to it, with cold metal pillars and decorations. It was huge, and directly opposite was a massive screen that seemed to be playing something.

In the open space below the large screen, there were many fixed chairs nailed to the spot. Some players were standing on the chairs, shaking their heads and shouting something. Some players sat on the ground dejectedly, while others slumped on the ground, muttering something under their breath. As for some players who were obviously not mentally sound and wanted to cause trouble, they were shot dead by people dressed in black from the shadows before they could even make a move. Their bodies were then dragged down by their feet.

Crimson blood flowed all over the ground, and some of it splashed onto the faces of some players who were muttering to themselves. They just stood there blankly, wiped their faces, and then casually wiped their bodies before looking up at the big screen again.

Even when the blood of the dead splattered into their mouths, they continued to stare at the big screen.

This scene stands in stark contrast to the bustling surroundings, making it both absurd and bizarre.

Yu Shijiu didn't actually feel anything was wrong; he was just a little interested in the big screen.

Just as Yu Shijiu was about to go and take a look, a girl's surprised shout suddenly rang out behind him.

"Wow!"

The unfamiliar girl skipped and hopped towards Yu Shijiu, her low pigtails swaying as she walked, as agile as a rabbit.

Are you Yu Shijiu?

Yu Shijiu looked at her, smiling and tilting her head: "Who are you?"

His "free guide" has arrived.

"I watched your trial game!" The girl with pigtails had very dark and large pupils, giving the impression that she was wearing large-diameter colored contact lenses. If you stared at her for too long, you would feel that her eyes did not look like those of a living person.

"I really liked your performance in the trial game," the girl with pigtails said with a smile, extending her hand. Her laughter was clear and melodious.

"My name is He Lingling, and I'm ranked 342nd on the player leaderboard. I'd like to invite you to join me in the next game."

"what do you think?"

Yu Shijiu feigned shock at the opportune moment, then smiled and extended his hand:

“Of course,” the boy seemed somewhat hesitant:

"You look very capable. The game you enter must be very difficult, right?"

Despite this, a deep, twisted excitement lingered in the depths of Yu Shijiu's eyes.
